  2. I'm so glad that I posted my feelings in this thread. So many of us are in the same boat as I am. The heart felt replies actually have helped me feel better. Thank you People! Who would have thought that a fishing forum could produce so many kind friends. Dan.

  4. Like Terry's story, I had a good propane tank fill yesterday. The lady is in the office, I put my tank on the scale and move away. She comes out and fills my tank with gloves on and leaves. I get the tank and put it in my vehicle. The door is open to the office, I walk in, she's on the other side of the room, I tap my credit card and leave without closing the door. I disinfect my hands and credit card before getting back in the car. We did a transaction and never came within 20 feet of each other.

  8. Dan, I struggle daily because my kids are with my ex and cannot come here. My daughter who is 16 has begged me twice since this all started to come live here and sadly I have had to say sorry but no. I would love it if she did but with what's going on, she has to stay put... I will fully admit that I have my very emotional moods missing my kids, parents and friends but I know it's for the best to do so. Good luck all and try and stay sane. Geoff

  13. People are not getting it. I went to ctc for curb pickup a man and child were standing by their vehicle ,woman from ctc walks up with bicycle and stuff , child runs over to her and grabs the bike from her the man grabs the helmet and other stuff from her signs the paper within inches of her and I believe touching her No distancing ,no ppe . this is how it spreads. My turn, I rolled down my window an inch and said please set it down there and walk away I will sign it and get back in my vehicle you can get the paperwork and leave. She was happy to do it. With gloves on I signed got back in the truck she took her paper work and left .I grabbed the stuff. Later disinfect everything and wash hands This is how not to spread the virus please do it right people

  14. Sometimes it is better to sit on the sidelines, my experience is things fall much faster than they recover. Retired 2008 and had time to recover from that one but not this time. I'll jump back in, but I'm betting this recent upturn is false and the real SHTF is still ahead.

  19. NOTICE: Municipality to allow access to boat launches The County of Prince Edward is allowing public access to municipal boat launches. The municipality continues to monitor conditions, given the COVID-19 outbreak and high water levels on Lake Ontario, and will make adjustments in the future if necessary. Signs have been installed at the boat launch sites informing the public to: Stay in their vehicles when waiting to launch Avoid congregating Maintain physical distancing of 2 m/6 ft at all times County by-law enforcement will be monitoring the boat launches to ensure compliance with the provincial regulation prohibiting social gatherings of more than five people.

  20. I'm no lawyer but if the Premiers words are written in plain English saying parks will remain open, but some municipalities put their own spin on it and fine someone $750 for doing what the boss says is OK, there shouldn't be any problem beating it in court. And for $750 it's sure be worthwhile fighting it.

  22. I feel for everyone here who can't see their kids and grandkids. While the boss and I don't have any rugrats, not seeing sisters and bro, and friends, leaves a huge hole. I can't begin to imagine how much catching up there will be when we turn the tide, and put this in the rear view mirror. be safe, stay safe everyone.

  23. I fell your pain, everyone. My kids are 16 and 13 now and I can't see them. My folks, can't see them either. Lucky side is Sue has been living with me almost a year so she's stuck here, LoL.

  25. GICs are great to allow you to sleep at night but really you’re still losing money because the inflation rate is higher than 1.6%, especially after taxes. Good solid companies pay a 4-6% annual dividend and have the likely potential to appreciate in value. Plus capital gains and dividends are taxed less than interest. It takes discipline to resist buying stocks when the market is hot but wait for the inevitable correction to buy them on sale.

  26. What exactly did he get the ticket for, from what I understand it's still legal to be in a park unless signed otherwise and your not using any park equipment including benches. Seems really strange he'd get a ticket for simply being in a legal place.

  27. Well right now I am making 1.6% on a 1 year term not great but at least I am making and its guaranteed. I feel sorry for the people who had their money in mutual funds and were relying on the income for retirement.

  29. Ok. I'm a bit of a history buff and hearing the stories my dad has told me; about the occupation of Belgium; during WW2. This pandemic sounds very familiar. Where people for minimal reasons call officials on their neighbors. Sad that people think that they're doing the right thing by calling the "officials" for/on people for things that are not harming anyone. I think these type of things are going to continue; until were afraid to do anything without being prosecuted??? Dan.

  30. Interesting, all I've ever used is milk almost to the top of the layers. Scalloped potatoes are always in a creamy sauce for me. Lot's of onions and black pepper along with flour and butter between each layer. Sometimes I'll add cheese or bacon.

  31. I hear you Dan, my daughter has been battling nonhodgkins lymphoma for years now, her immune system is shot from all the chemotherapy, my son has ulcerative colitis, his immune system is compromised, he just turned 50 (once in a lifetime thing) I wanted to be with him so much but wouldn't gamble........ I want so much to be with them but I'm stuck sitting here by myself praying that they stay safe.

  35. Shocker...an American right wing journalism agency writes an article aligning with Trump’s point of view that the lock downs need to be removed in order to keep the economy going. if you are going to bring articles into this discussion please ensure that they are bipartisan and written by actual medical professionals that are not lobbied by American corporations. Thanks. in other words, get that garbage out of here

  37. According to the signature count, in over one week there has been less than 300 people think it's a good idea; there is a message here. This thread alone has had 7500 views. You do realize it would take a WELL into 6 figures, probably 7, before anyone would even read it?? More and more ramps are being shut down every week and you're going to start another petition? lol I've seen petitions on this petition.org before and unfortunately, 99% of the time it's nothing more than a vehicle for people that want to push their own agendas. Last month there was a woman who wanted her son's 8 year old's hockey team to be able to continue playing because "they really worked hard and were probably going to win". God help us combat Covid-19 and stupidity.
