Rizzo Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 I have a couple days off work....strongly considering swapping out the tires on both vehicles in the next day or two. Anyone else thinking of making the change early or am I alone in considering doing this? The 2 week forecast was all above zero (and many days above 7)
Terry Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 no we will have at least one more good storm and - temps in the mornings but don't quote me on that
SirCranksalot Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 Lemme check with the ground hog and/or farmers almanac.!
irishfield Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 2nd or 3rd week in April for me. Have gone flying on a fresh dump of snow as late as April 10th before.
leaf4 Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 I got a flat a couple weeks ago and tossed my all seasons on then, got through those last couple blasts just fine but my car is also front wheel, so that helps a lot.
kickingfrog Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 One vehicle will get switched soon. I usually leave one a little longer just incase. But in the balmy south where you are I'd be switching them out for sure.

The 2 week forecast was all above zero (and many days above 7) I am considering as well but knowing how inconsistent the weather is, I would not be surprised be if we get another dumping of snow in the first week of April .
ecmilley Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 usually wait till 2nd week of april myself
Fisherman Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 I'm holding of until the first week of April.
Bondar Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 My insurance company wants me to keep them on till may, I getting a huge $4.12 discount a month for having them on. But I don't think they will see April. Not gonna burn up my new snows for $4 a month
crappieperchhunter Posted March 13, 2016 Report Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) I have a veggie garden here in Courtice that I try to get into as early as possible. I could have tilled it this weekend if I wasn't so busy. Most years I have stuff planted in March. Where I'm going with this is almost every year we seem to get one last substantial dumping of snow towards the end of March. It used to drive me crazy because I'd be all worried if my early planted stuff would survive....but it always has so I don't worry anymore. But for this reason alone I will leave my snows on until April. Edited March 13, 2016 by crappieperchhunter
irishfield Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Reminds me Bondar.. I'd better look at my policy as I got a similar HUGE reduction for dedicated snows. If you get in an accident and the snows aren't on during the "required period" bet your bottom dollar that you're outta luck !
Old Ironmaker Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 They stay on until my first round of Golf.

But I don't think they will see April. Not gonna burn up my new snows for $4 a month I am with Belair Direct and they require winter tires for the discount from Dec 15 to march 15. Pretty good policy for winters like the one we just had. Edited March 14, 2016 by huzzsaba
Rizzo Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 never thought about the insurance! They would use any loophole not to have to pay.
Rizzo Posted March 14, 2016 Author Report Posted March 14, 2016 its just that last fall I finally got a proper jack, and yesterday I finally bought an impact gun,,,no more stomping on the tire iron and using the crappy jack in the trunk for me. I am actually looking forward to changing them. Gonna be a breeze this time. Used to take me an hour per car, now I bet both are done in an hour.
Fisherpete Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Yeah I debated it too... but decided to wait another few weeks just in case.
KraTToR Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I wouldn't. Better to be safe than sorry. Raf Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 had the jeep in for brakes this week and figured i may as well swap the all terrains on. not to worried about a late snowfall in that vehicle though.

mike rousseau Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 Switching to the all seasons this week... If we do get snow... Which I doubt... All seasons are fine... Winters are too soft... I don't wanna wear em out in this +10-15 weather we are getting
manitoubass2 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I never even put mine on either vehicle this year lol. Just wasnt needed. Highways were bare all winter. Heck it rained all day today, no more snow on the ground at all
fishing n autograph Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I took mine off. Had a cracked rim on one of my snows.
scuro2 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) I live in southern ontario and knew we wouldn't need them because of El Nino. Last year was the last year we will ever need snow tires. See graph http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/february-smashes-earths-alltime-global-heat-record-by-a-jawdropping Edited March 14, 2016 by scuro2
Rod Caster Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 I'll be changing my truck tires today I hope, but I'm switching from studded winters to my summer All-Terrains (snow rated too), so it's not a big deal to have it done early. At least I'll beat the crowds.
