It should be good for getting the Ring Neck ducks to push south.. I've only shot 2 this year... When the flocks come in, we normally double limit on them all the time.

Good thread! I have a question regarding snow tires....

When to put them on!?!

Too early and your tread life is reduced.... Too late and your driving on marbles....

Anyone have a time or method they use when to put em on?

I live in the Quinte region, I was thinking Nov. 1st....

I'm sure there are some theories out there when to swap....

I'm all ears.

Around here, the weekend either side of Remembrance Day. There's the odd storm that comes but melts on the roads. The next 2 weeks still look reasonably snow free.

My winter tires are always in the garage and ready to go, I just watch the weather forecasts and when they call for the 1st snow, then on they go and it's normally in December sometime.

Do like 90% of my customers do :wallbash: try and get them on RIGHT AFTER the first weather watch is announced; just like today!!!!!!!!!!!

My phone here hasn't stopped ringing; Dan I need my snows on, can I come in now. Sorry you'll need to take a number, we're working on #30 now and the last person to book is #80; I'll call you.

So if the shop that you deal with has time, get them on anytime after Thanksgiving and avoid the rush. The amount of tire you're going to wear off would be un-measurable.

It's a crap shoot; put them on to early and you wear a little bit of tire; to later you're kicking yourself; so throw the dice?

Dan.

P.S. Give the shop you deal with some slack when it comes to putting the snows on; we're working our ass off trying to accommodate.

I'm crazy excited about ice fishing.

Can't wait for first ice.

Gunna be a long 2 months.

But I just got my boat back from storage. So maybe I'll scratch the itch with some Simcoe perch.

As far as timing on snow tires.. I have a set in my garage in steel rims that I out on when the snow starts to fly. I may put them on tomorrow morning.

I'm praying for snow. Just bought a sled this week. Bring it. LOTS of it!

S.

What did you pick up Shane?

I'll still get lots of hours in a boat I'm sure. Then, first ice = biggies bite!

Livinfishin: 'new activities", what else you got planned this winter?

I have my best supply of firewood yet, so I consider myself 'ready'.

The track on my tundra needs replacement, so 'not ready'

I bought a riding mower with a snow blower attachment, but I don't know if it'll work well, so 'not ready'

I hear it'll be a milder winter that last year, so 'ready!!'

Ive never been snowboarding and would like to give that a try. I also wouldnt mind trying to ski a bit, just something different this year. Of course i would like to get out fishing more this season compared to the last one and actually catch some decent fish. Edited by livinisfishin

Chad, think that snow blower will help get us out of Calendar Bay this year? My boots are still soaked. :P
