Acountdeleted Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 I was going to ask Chris K this on our next long drive to our ice fishing destination but figured I would let everyone chime in. If you were told you were only allowed to use one artificial fishing bait, in one colour (you can use different sizes) what would it be? For me, I would have to go with a crayfish coloured crank bait. For years, my top brand would be the Rebel one that swims backwords but as of recent I think I would take the Live target one in dark brown. It means I would have to ice fish with only minnows and a hook from now on, but the number of Bass, Walleye and Pike I land off of that crank over the summer make up for it. How about you guys? No loopholes, just one artificial bait, one colour, one brand.
DRIFTER_016 Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Yellow 1/4oz twister tail jig. It will catch pretty much anything that swims.
OhioFisherman Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 For largemouth bass? http://zoombait.com/worms/swimming-tails/u-tails/ With only one choice for other species I would stay home and cut grass.
manitoubass2 Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) 1/4 ounce northland shakeyhead jig with a 6" pumpkin/fleck senko. I can even ice fish with it? Jig it, swim it, fish it weedless/snagless, and wacky rig it? Caught tons of fish the past two to three years doing all these, especially pike, walleye and smallies. I can trim the worm, its deadly on crappie as well. Edited February 10, 2015 by manitoubass2
LostAnotherOne Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Black spinner bait with a red tail behind it.
bare foot wader Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 can use different sizes, but only one colour? I'd say a chartreuse jig head with a yellow grub on it
crappieperchhunter Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Finesse Minnow or Shad...Arkansas Shiner color. Has caught me every species....some accidental...of gamefish and panfish that swim in the waters I fish.

manitoubass2 Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 This is the best thread ever to get to know everyones "secret weapons" lol
lew Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 A big ole #950 Grim Reaper spinnerbait, black with orange blades and a 7" orange worm hanging off the side of it. Never met any self respecting musky that could resist it.
Old Ironmaker Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Banjo Minnow. Really a Black and silver metal flake Rappala F-9 would be my #1 choice. Edited February 10, 2015 by Old Ironmaker
solopaddler Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 White twister on a jig head for me as well, in 3, 4, 6 and 8" sizes. Would catch everything. A jig in general is the most versatile bait possible, so it's an easy choice when you can only pick one.
Acountdeleted Posted February 10, 2015 Author Report Posted February 10, 2015 This is the best thread ever to get to know everyones "secret weapons" lol You found out my plan! Lol.
limeyangler Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Stick of dynamite? Just kidding, jig with pearl thumper tail/twister tail.
mattaw Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 White twister on a jighead for me to. I throw lots of stuff, but that catches almost everything in the lake.
MrSimon Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 In various sizes, I could catch just about anything with a basic in-line spinner. I really like the blue and silver. They are incredibly simple and easy to fish .... you can count them down to any depth, troll them, and even slow roll them on the bottom.
