  1. The jig feature is amazing, especially if you have the iPilot Link. I’m going for a Crestliner Hawk 1750 with a 115hp, side console. It’s a new model starting this year, I was thinking about a Lund Adventure Sport which has a really nice layout too, but have decided to go welded.
  2. Gotta say I’m jealous of anyone in a boat, winter is long and I’m getting a new boat this year.
  3. Hi all, we have been making ice the last couple weeks, not too far off 'normal' ice thickness for this time of year despite the insanely mild winter, should be a normal(ish) ice out, maybe a bit earlier than the 1st week of May. Took advantage of the extra daylight hours and headed out on Wabigoon yesterday for an hour , supper was great!
  4. You might convince a new one?
  5. Hi all, Got out with my pal up from Minnesota for the weekend, it was kind of slow… we were out for a good 5 hours and got 16 crappie, 5 small walleye, a few pike and assorted dink saugeye and perch… oh and it was freekin’ cold , shelter was toasty though.
  6. Lol, you might have misread “session’” for “season”. Our season has been warm but actually normal in terms of duration, ice out looks to be set to be normal too.
  7. Hi all, Still 2' feet of ice, still getting out once a week at least. Walleye were biting mid afternoon.
  8. Sounds good. I need to put an order in
  9. How long does it take to tie one of those jigs?
  10. Hi all, Went back to a fun walleye puddle , a month ago the bite started at 11am but this time we had to wait until 2pm, then it was game on! Fishing in around 4 feet of water is fun, the motion of setting the hook practically lands the fish…. Lol. Nothing fancy… 1/4 Oz jigs in orange/chartreuse jigged with a tail hooked minnow seemed to be the best, and definitely needed to jig, not a single set line got hit. We got our limits and then some, bite would be non stop for 5 minutes with everyone pulling fish out, then quiet for 10 minutes before it would kick off again.

  12. That colour in particular is doing the damage. I tried your drop shot type rig yesterday, I think it was too ‘busy’ for the fish, for crappie anyway. Walleye like ‘em too. The heavier tungsten sounds interesting, would that increase the overall size a lot?
  13. Hi All, So way back in December last year Brian sent me some of his buggy type jigs to try out, after many excuses and missed opportunities I put them to the test today....WOW....the crappie loved them!!! The fish were being picky as hell and I had tried everything with no resultslts except window shoppers, then I remembered (at last) that I had Brian's creations in my jig box, I tied one on and window shoppers became repeat customers....the fish just smoked them! Thanks again Brian, very kind of you to gift me some of your jigs, I won't be hesitating or forgetting them again.
  14. We caught tons of them when we used to visit Erieau 10 years ago
  15. Already tried that…. Here’s my versions, one on dark rye with home made onion rings and one with avocado too and some homemade kettle chips.
  16. Huh…. I’d definitely thought you’d have caught some. They are addictive, it’s just fun to watch them on the screen, and they taste pretty good too. I was liking them more than walleye to eat for a while but I’m back to liking walleye better.
  17. Hi all, got out for my fix yesterday, chilly morning for a change so set the shack up and was nice and warm. With the lack of snow this year it’s kinda fun to drive the truck out to your spots. Fish were plentiful but picky but got a limit of nice size ones.
  18. Took a new friend icefishing, he’s a fellow Englishman and had never been icefishing before, well, he said he loves it, no doubt because we couldn’t keep the fish off the lines from the get go. Sorry Misfish, was so frantic did not get a chance to tie on one of those grubs you kindly sent, oh well , next time.
  19. Hi all, got out this morning for 3 hours on a local trout lake and………
  20. A longer video of my trout session the other day including the numerous pike that were around.
  21. Hi all, The day after our shallow water walleye trip , Rich wanted to go for crappie, took him to a little spot I know and we caught enough for supper and a limit for him to take back to the US the next day.
  22. 100% fox. Looks really healthy, the foxes round here are scrawny looking mangy critters.
  23. Yeah, my neighbour Bob’s Ranger is pretty luxurious, heated leather seats, air con etc…etc. Bob and Rich have cabins in the area. I said I hadn’t fished that lake before but I actually have, in a boat, we had to hand bomb a 14’ tinny 1/2 mile downhill to get in there, we did better on the ice lol.
