  1. Broken tip? and how much of the rod itself? Like Akri and Crow mentioned, the rod may not feel the same, and how much is broken off will be a factor. If you epoxy a new eye on? figure on having to cut it off if it should break again, ferrule cement like in Terry's picture works best. l

  4. " The Ohio smallmouth record is held by Randy VanDam, who caught a 9.5-pounder out of Lake Erie in June of 1993. " LOL, after 30? years of eating gobies they are getting bigger? There may have been a chance for a 10 pound spotted bass if they had added them instead of Coho?
  5. Bruce, just curious, emerald shiners the bait of choice?

No idea how much they enjoyed the winners circle spotlight, but playing fair prevents what they are facing now. No one to blame but themselves, they may need guards to watch their vehicles and trailers when trying to er... fun fish now? I can't picture any tournament allowing them to enter.

  10. I don't know of any live release walleye tournaments on Lake Erie here Rizzo, although I don't follow them closely. The dudes finished first in the Fall Brawl here last year and one of them couldn't pass the required polygraph test and they were disqualified, no evidence at that time they were cheating, but passing the test is mandatory. The guy running the tournament is a local area cop and noticed hard spots on the fish. It is the fall feed season here for the walleye and they are gorging, fish caught later in the brawl can be 2-3 pounds heavier than a fish of the same length caught early.
  11. As I understand it these were the same guys that were leading the fall brawl tournament last year on Lake Erie and couldn't pass the lie detector test. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/fishermen-accused-of-adding-weights-to-fish-to-win-popular-lake-erie-fishing-tournament
  12. LOL, interesting at least, we had no clue what he had hooked, and it wasn't in much of a hurry to come up and show us, never knew they got that big back then.
  13. Over the years we caught a few of them at Pointe Au Baril, all except 1 were caught in shallow weedy areas and were 6-8 pounds. One of my buddies got 1 in 16 - 18 feet of water that was pushing 20 pounds, it was a tank!
  14. Too many variables, what might be hot one day might be useless the next? Some days 1 bite may have been your hot lure?
  15. Hack, 5-8 years ago I bought some of those Lunkerhunt Kraken spinnerbaits as a Christmas present for a friend, buy 2 get 1 free. So I got 6 and paid for 4, on 2-3 of them the rear blades would not spin, made in China with very low quality ball bearings in the swivel, no problem for me, I had good swivels on hand and replaced them. I let them know of the swivel issue, now they may have changed the name, colors, and suppliers? I always preferred closed eye spinner and buzzbaits.
  16. Some power pro or similar and a needle? anything over 50lb test should remain break free in a net?
  17. https://travelingluck.com//North+America/Canada/Ontario/_5921195_Chicken+Liver+Channel.html It's my impression that those folks in that er... ice breaker video? knew that area very well? even with gps it's nice to be able to see the rocks ahead?
  18. Many years ago we followed the owner of KenLea camp down to what he called Table Rock, and it was in the general area that the maps HTHM and Cast-Away posted.

  21. Never trolled out of a canoe, but that, the rod holders or line shouldn't have much effect on line twist, line type, diameter can affect trolling depth. Some crank baits need to be tuned to get them to run well, and some seem more susceptible to damage that affects their running properly. The old storm hot n tots metal bill could break loose from the plastic and get water inside making them spin, and if you have 100 - 150 feet of line out? by the time you notice you have line twist.
