Its part of our culture apparently, so yes its insured with PDL coverage. It has to be insured, because who could afford to remove their vehicle from 30 feet of water and the subsequent MOE fines. All depends on the particular insurance company and the level of coverage. Some do, some don't. Not just near shore, right to Georgina Island. Sitting in the hut, we'd hear the ice cracking and popping as the vehicles went past. I'll walk, it's good exercise!! And if the insurance company consider it careless driving, like our subject above, you will get charged and be on the hook for the entire recovery bill.
