http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/dcpc/data/state.htm It might be a safer place to visit than some states? It does make you wonder Lew.

How big an affect will winter kill have on small lakes?
OhioFisherman replied to Shloim's topic in General Discussion
Info on winter fish kills. http://ohioline.osu.edu/a-fact/0008.html I can no longer get out to check the effects in my area, but I suspect that a lot of ponds and lakes here have had a significant issue with it. I recall going to a local area pond with my buddy after the winter of 78 - 79. A 6 - 8 acre pond, but I don't think it had a spot in it over 8 feet deep, as we approached the pond we could see fish floating by the overflow, there must have been 200 dead bass up to around 6 pounds. -
LOL, why can't we get an honest politician, nicki seems more honest than ours.

I get them and others regularly, I even get them from the FBI, er... allegedly. The continuing one has been someone from Microsoft, again allegedly calling the house and telling me they need access to my computer to fix problems with it. When in doubt? delete.

After years of boxes I went to bags, depending on the species and water it was easier to plug in a couple of Plano boxes to fit specific needs.

The tournament is still two months off? a lot can happen with the weather in two months? Since your location is listed as Montreal I would assume you are familiar with the water you will be fishing? Can you pre-fish? It helps to have a general idea of the bottom composition of the area? You might have better luck in an area with a sand, gravel, rocky bottom that a bottom that is just muck? especially if they are still in the spawning mode? Smallies here on Lake Erie move shallow to spawn, a lot of times into the bays and tributaries off of Lake Erie, warmer, more sheltered water for nest building. It's not hard to catch them in a couple of feet of water under a dock in a marina or near rip rap in a sheltered cove. In a week or two of warm weather they can all be gone from those areas and into deeper water. Lure choice? I might mix in a small jig and pork or plastic for shallower water, 1 - 10 feet, a blade bait for deeper water?

False distress call leads to jail & costs.

If you play you should have to pay, and why expect Canada to donate it's services for free? " His attorneys had argued that Kumar was liable only for the search's direct costs to the U.S. Coast Guard, estimated by a defense expert at $118,000, and no Canadian Armed Forces costs. A panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld the federal judge's rulings. One judge dissented in part, finding she would have ordered the district court to reduce the "inflated cost figure." " I wonder what evidence the dissenting judge produced that the costs were inflated? -
A shad was my first thought too.

Art, as I recall fuel and other prices have always been much higher up north. Not sure of a logical reason, but I am sure with the distances involved transportation costs figure in? Our fuel prices here went up 25 cents in one week, LOL they are probably changing over to the summer blend? I think my daughter that used to live in Rhode Island told me smokes there and in New York City are around 10 bucks a pack? It costs a lot of money to build billionaires sports stadiums? Sin taxes seem to be a method of choice?

The water is cold, if you end up in it you probably won't last long. -
I spent 25 years going to Pointe Au Baril, if you are not careful in your travels there you can run into rock problems, but that is probably true of anyplace up there?

A few high water pics from Burliegh Falls
OhioFisherman replied to lew's topic in General Discussion
Consider yourself lucky, any water that is moving that fast here is definitely brown. You probably wouldn't be able to see concrete on the locks if the water was more than an inch or two deep. -
Too bad wives don't listen that well. LOL

Hunting Cormorants makes more sense than hunting Morning Doves to me, do you get bonus points for jet skiers? -
Some one has to keep them launching ramp crowds under control? Maybe there are gators in the water? LOL

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Jewel_Bait_Sculpin/descpage-JS.html These seemed to work pretty good on Lake Erie, fished on a jig head or drop shot. -

finally found out the fine from the neighbours camp
OhioFisherman replied to grt1's topic in General Discussion
I never understood the mentality behind getting caught breaking the law and blaming someone else. It sounds like Canada would be much better off with out him as a guest. -
gypsy bait oil, a memory from a different era, it smelled like black licorice, anise oil was in it.
