Nothing you can prepare yourself for. I don't think it is selfish to say the pain and suffering has ended. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Joey Posted February 20, 2009 Report Share Posted February 20, 2009 I'm terribly sorry to hear that Jacques. My condolances to you and your family. My father is battling lung cancer right now. The chemo knocked the socks off him and put him in hospital, so they stopped giving him that, then just two weeks ago they tried him on the chemo pill, which made his whole body break out in hives and rashes, so now he's off that too. I'm afraid his end will be the same as your fathers not too soon from now. What a shame. I feel for you and hope you remember the good times you two had. Might be selfish on my part but he is now in peace and watching over us.... Will miss him dearly. It's not selfish at all, just natural. I understand where you are coming from, I was the same this past October when my Dad lost his battle with brain cancer. My condolences go out to you and your family. My father had been fighting lung cancer for the past year and a half getting chemo & radiation treatments. Was admitted into a palliative care center about 5 weeks ago, it ended today at 12:25pm..... Will never forget the last weeks spent at his bed side.... he was a fighter and even today, fought to the very end... he just didn't want to let go.... The hardest part for me was to see him gasp for air all the while our family was there, including his sister that is celebrating her 79th birthday today. He definitely got great care and I'm thankful that his suffering ended.... I just could not stand seeing him that way anymore. Might be selfish on my part but he is now in peace and watching over us.... Will miss him dearly. Jacques aka Leechman I, and many of us here, know exactly how you feel Jacques. I too lost my Dad to lung cancer 4 years ago and I felt the same way as you in that you didn't want to see him suffer anymore.
