  2. I leave my TM batteries charging all winter without issue. Need to make sure you've got a charger that can switch into maintenance mode however.

  3. We are all done, great guy and great work, good instructions on how to keep them looking good and well maintained (that cost me a beer, two espressos, a bottle of water and a tea) Lives only lives 5 minutes from me, who knew. Doors are foam injected and sealed, and the frames were capped. Now to do the front door to match this weekend.

  4. Sobeys have brisket on special, $4.99/lb so I decided with this nice fresh cool weather it was the perfect time to replenish my supply. Simple Texas style soon to be chilled, sliced, and vac sealed (after a few samples 😉

  15. Oh yeah that'll happen; already know how I'm going to attach the generator's hose to the oven. I guess I could do the same with my propane smoker. Then all I'd need to transport is the smoke generator to and from the trailer park; that's where the pizza oven is going to live. This time I should've thought inside the boxes, I already have; instead of outside like I usually do? LOL Dan.

  16. Should work, make a template out of paper or cardboard. Go to your local Glass company and get some nice Grey Plexiglass, use a heat gun cautiously...Maybe get a small test piece and practice.

  17. Not so amazing really, aluminum boats last forever. I used to be a Millwright/metal fabricator by trade, so a couple of skills but anyone can learn. And the rest is maintenace and respect for the machines Here’s my offseason restoration project. I do a bit every year. It’s an early fish and ski that started back in 1969 (I think). Not my cottage (I WISH)

  19. Some of my best campfire stories are about the things we forgot to bring. Whether it was tying off an anchor, packing the gear for a shore lunch or even bringing the right clothes into the boat Newest post is up – I share a couple of my favorites https://www.northernjacks.com/post/famous-forgotten-moments Cheers Andrew

  21. Best bang your buck would be the Costco blue brand with a noco charger. AGM being better than the lead acid if you can afford it. As Akri said its very important to charge them asap when you get home from fishing. Just to make them last longer. In the winter top them up once a month. I tried to leave a noco genius charger hooked up all winter and unfortunately it boiled my batteries dry! Luckily they were only everstarts! So I don't recommend leaving them on all the time. Good luck.

  22. as a rule of thumb I wouldnt stray from Minkotta, Marinco, Pro Mariner or Noco if you are looking for a new charger. Noco's are readily available on Amazon at competitive pricing. I love mine, its very low profile and fully sealed/waterproof. They also have the function to recondition batteries. They also specifically are designed to charge both flooded and gel and AGM batteries if you have them. Apparently each battery type has a "most effecient" way of charge cycle and the genius knows how to do it.

  24. Canadian tire specifically changed their nautilus line of AGM battery supplier last year to address this issue. The price of their batteries increased in accordance with this change. Prior to last year Exide was their supplier and was known to make poor batteries. I am not certain who makes their flooded lead acid batteries anymore as exide appears to have gone under. FYI Costco is now also now selling an "energizer" branded AGM made my Johnson controls thats really really cheap. Warranty is not as good though. Also, If you have having issues with that new of batteries its very very likely that you may have issues with your battery charger. My last set of batteries lasted 11 years 3 of them at the end of their life had me fishing them over 300+ hours a year. The key is to always charge the boat immediately when you get back and if they are flooded batteries, watch your water levels and ensure you maintain them by charging them every month or so through the winter while they are in storage. FYI AGM's are more conducive to deep discharges. So if you spend long days on the water an AGM is the way to go vs flooded.

  25. Many guys that say they get 7 plus years on their batteries probably only fish 6-10 times per season. My boat goes in the water in March and comes out in December. My average run time on the trolling motor is 8 hours straight while trolling. I crush batteries in 2-3 years no matter how much I pay. It all depends on the level of use.

  28. So the last few months we've had quite a few complaints about the shenanigans that go on, generally in Non Fishing Posts, around here. Seems like some people just can't be reasonable and are offending quite a few folks sometimes very deliberately. We do our very best to try to keep this a moderated board, it's not facebook after all and we want everyone to feel comfortable here. I have never ever been a big fan of removing/banning people from the forum / board. I also have tried my best to keep most of the discussions in one place, (for 20 years now) but sadly I think we are done with that... so without any further ado, were announcing a couple changes for the better. 1st thing: all posts that are not Fishing or at least outdoors or outdoor equipment related should be posted in our new sub forum. (if they are not, they will be moved there) Non-Outdoors Open Discussion You'll notice we've moved some posts there already! We've had a lot of feedback from folks that really only want to see fishing or outdoor posts when they first get on there, but I've always said that as a COMMUNITY we should feel free to be able to ask for help and discuss subjects that are not outdoor related, so now there is a special spot for that! 2nd thing: We're going to start using some of our Moderation tools a bit more effectively. If a member can't be reasonable, they will be put on whats called ModQ, which means for a period of time all posts will have to be approved by a moderator when one happens log in. Honestly, if a user (ANY USERS - OLD OR NEW) can't be reasonable here and feels the need to troll there are plenty of other places to do it. We will be using this tool more and more in the coming months. If you can't say something nice or in the very least constructive, please don't say anything at all.. (Your Mom should have taught you this already) So that's about it. Have a great day everyone!! Be Safe Out There.

  29. My buddy told me that the upstairs fishing and hunting section will be shutting down after Sunday. Only the bottom floor will be open after the weekend. Sail Etobicoke and Vaughan will most likely close their stores by the end of the month.
