PUMP KNOWS Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) I caught this recently and was wondering what could've caused it. A bigger pike or boat prop? Pike is about 33-35inches Edited February 12, 2016 by PUMP KNOWS
captpierre Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 If it was boating season, I'd say a prop. The cuts look fairly fresh so likely a bigger pike.
Roy Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 40 HP Yamaha.... a four stroke I'd say. I could be wrong.
PUMP KNOWS Posted February 12, 2016 Author Report Posted February 12, 2016 Majority of boats have been put away this winter in lake ontario
misfish Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 40 HP Yamaha.... a four stroke I'd say. I could be wrong. Good eye Watson.
KLINKER Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Fish bite might leave a mark on the belly, I think your right osprey or eagle. It might have been too big for an osprey to handle.
Old Ironmaker Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 A bigger fish but I like the Raptor theory too.
manitoubass2 Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Those arent fish teeth marks id say talons imo Edited February 13, 2016 by manitoubass2

fishing n autograph Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 ^ honey badger don't care
Old Ironmaker Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) Those arent fish teeth marks id say talons imo Especially when you see the single puncture wound. The longer wounds would be scrapes from closing the talons together. For sure. Edited February 13, 2016 by Old Ironmaker
KLINKER Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 An osprey has a hard time flying against the wind with a half decent bass, with that he would be going backwards.
Gnote Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 I have a hard time believing those are from another fish, i dont have a guess myself but id rule fish out.

Bang on, it didn't get this one either. It could have been an Eagle too. I watch them out here and even they don't get 100% of their prey.
