muskymatt Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 My boy! Thirteen and lived a great life. Cottage, swimming, biking, fetch, he did it all. Today we put him down. Sad to see someone you love so much deteriorate. Tough day! Hug your pets tonight for me!
Moosebunk Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sorry again Matt! Surely a loved dog with a great life.
manitoubass2 Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Ughhhh. I know this feeling all too well. Sorry for your loss Matt, always sucks losing our best buds
grimsbylander Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 That's a tough thing to do. Our lab is getting on and his time is extremely limited. He fell going up the stairs twice last week. We're dreading the reality that it's weeks maybe months now if we're lucky. Sad situation for you right now. My condolences.
manitoubass2 Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Not that it matters, but 13 seems an unlucky number for our best friends? A new friend will come along soon Matt?
Reel Man Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 So sorry for your loss Matt. So tough to lose a member of the family.
Big Cliff Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Rainbow BridgeJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....Author unknown...
lew Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) Really sorry for your loss Matt and I definitely feel your pain, infact just reading your post brought a tear to my eye. Putting down your bud is one of the toughest things a man ever has to go through. Edited July 4, 2015 by lew

Rich Clemens Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Yeah. That's a tough call to make, but we have to do it. Sorry for your loss as I still recall the day I had to us my girl down. Some years back and I still miss her.
Gnote Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sorry about your loss, always hurts to lose a friend.
Musky or Specks Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 That's a tough one. Took me 5 yrs to get another dog after putting down the last. I waited to long. Don't you do the same.
bigbuck Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sorry for your loss. It took me 11 years to get another dog. No more pain, no more suffering. For your dog to show pain, he is really suffering.
Sinker Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sorry for your loss Matt! I lost my dog a year ago canada day and it still hurts! I have a new buddy now, and I still sometimes catch myself calling him the wrong name! It sucks, but its the right thing to do, and he had a great run! You will miss him, but the memories will be there forever! Sorry man! S.
Beavertail Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sorry to hear that. 13 years is a good run, remember the good times.
Rich Clemens Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 An OFC'er shared this with me a number of years ago/ TREAT ME KINDLYTreat me kindly, my beloved friend,For no heart in all the world is moregrateful for kindness than the lovingheart of me.Do not break my spirit with a stick,For though I should lick your handbetween blows, your patience andunderstanding will more quicklyteach me the things you wouldhave me learn.Speak to me often, For your voice isthe world's sweetest music, as you mustknow by the fierce wagging of my tailwhen your footsteps fall upon my ears. Please take me inside when it is coldand wet, For I am a domesticatedanimal, no longer accustomed to thebitter elements. I ask no greater glorythan the privilege of sitting at yourfeet beside the hearth.Keep my pan filled with water, for Icannot tell you when I suffer thirst.Feed me clean food that I may stay well,to romp and play and do your bidding,to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you withmy life, should your life be in danger. And, my friend, when I am very old, andI no longer enjoy good health, hearingand good sight, do not make heroicefforts to keep me going.I am not having fun. Please see that mytrusting life is taken gently. I shallleave this earth knowing with the lastbreath I drew, that my fate was alwayssafest in your hand.--- By Beth Norman Harris 1968 ---
icedude Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Will Do Musky Matt: will give an extra hug to my canine family tonite--R.I.P. Copper ! Feel your sorrow Paul
misfish Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 It hurts like a son of a &*&%. I never thought a small dog like Tink, would make a grown man like I, cry like a child when we put her down. Hell, it was the mrs,s dog after all. So she thought. RIP COPPER Know you were loved, and you Im sure, showed the same.
manitoubass2 Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Frig when our boxer died I sat with her for at least an hour crying. When our 13 year old husky died, same thing. Even looking at pics makes me happy but cry. Dogs really are a mans best friend, loyal till the end...
aplumma Posted July 4, 2015 Report Posted July 4, 2015 Sad to hear Matt give him a good place in your heart and when your heart finds the room a new friend can move in beside him. Art
