crossover Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 I am going camping starting the last day of June, and am wondering what I should pick up for smallmouth bass. I've had success on twisty tails and yum dingers.
super dave Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Tubes in green, light brown twisters, brown rapala countdowns. For live bait, leeches
misfish Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 TUBES Sad to say, that YUM has changed my favorite tube. I have alot of new baits to try this year thanks to the OFC Classifieds.
Spiel Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 My favourite would be anything topwater, but conditions have to be favourable. That aside tubes are my most consistent producer in any water body.
EC1 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 I started using the crosstail shad by jackall this year on a dropshot(Only problem is that they are not readily available in the GTA). Unbelievable action, and the fish love it. Even got a 40+" muskie to chomp down on it!
uglyfish Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 strikezone (now Xzone) slammers and shiver shads on a dropshot!
GBW Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 the way my kids slay them, hook, worm and bobber.
mercman Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 the way my kids slay them, hook, worm and bobber. Gotta agree with ya Geoff. The wife catches EVERYTHING on worms and spinner. Drives me NUTZ, having spent a fortune on lures
EC1 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 strikezone (now Xzone) slammers and shiver shads on a dropshot! You can't go wrong with slammers either!
Guest ThisPlaceSucks Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 my most consistent smallie producer over the past 5 years has been a plain white grub.
aplumma Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 A great search bait is the white Bandit Shallow diving crankbait. You can cover a lot of water quickly and they seem to get some of the best reaction bites. Art
fish1812 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 gotta be a smoke colour salted tube, on a worm hook with a split shot 24 inches up the line.
Dave Bailey Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Another vote for drop-shotting with Slammers!
Cudz Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 slammers tubes a crankbait (cant tell you which one though)
lunkerbasshunter Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 most excting way to catch smallies on top water and using jitterbug (old school) The easiest way to catch smallies is on tubes or stick baits Cheers!
spinnerbaitking Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Spinnerbaits or Slammers or Bassmagnet Tubes SBK
spinnerbaitking Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Jerkbaits, Crankbaits or Spinnerbaits, depends on which lake or river SBK
cram Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Agree with Sal on the white grub, but i have the most fun catching them on mepps spinners.
Harrison Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) #1 smallmouth bait to use in all type/depth of water IMO, is the jerkbait. Hands down. Edited June 12, 2011 by Harrison
Old Man Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Flame Red Original Hot n Tot. Works great around here.
lew Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Been a LOT of years since I fished for bass, but back in the day it was fast moving spinnerbaits or jerkbaits, and early morning, late evining not much would ever beat minnow baits twitched on the surface. Never did find the patience for dragging rubber baits on the bottom though.
PikeMolester Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) Favorite and most productive in my experience and more interesting than standard grubs, senkos and tubes. #1. X-rap #2. Cranking is my favorite. Bomber Fat Free Shad/Guppy in sexy shad or craw colors (personal favorite) #3. Jackall Crosstail Shad or Berkley Hollow Belly Split Tail (drop shot) #4. Stike King Bottom Dweller. Catching em in 20-30 fow on spinnerbaits #5. Plastic craws. Chigger Craws on stand up jigs like Title Shot Knuckleballs Jigs Edited June 12, 2011 by Canucker
misfish Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 slammers tubes a crankbait (cant tell you which one though) You and your crank baits.
PikeMolester Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 mentionables...Hair jigs(Booyah), Lipless cranks (Aruku Shad, Rattlin Rap), Inline spinners (blue fox or mepps black fury), Berkley Fat Sink Worms
