  1. What is the battery life? Even with moderate use the batteries age and lose the ability to hold a charge over the course of 5 years. New ones could be very expensive but then again since it's a Toyota the quality is excellent..
  2. Thats how I got started with ice fishing...just remember though, if you must chop with an axe do it away from other fishermen....nothing more irritating than thump,thump,thump......
  3. When you take the picture you could compose it in a way as to hide and shoreline features. The photo taker could stand while the person with the fish kneels down on the ice....
  4. The big crappie looks to be a white...nice catch
  5. Trace makes a nice inverter...I would go with a 24 volt system thats good for 3000 watts....If you plan on living off the grid, a small wind generator would give you a boost in the winter when you only get a few peak hours of charging. A digital charge controller would also help.
  6. My cottage had no hydro lines so I installed a solar system. I used collected rain water and a 12 volt on demand pump for water that was heated with propane. A propane fridge and stove and a woodstove for heat made it feel like we had hydro hooked up. Oh yea.....a composting toilet made trips to the outhouse just a memory....
  7. I used to fish the south end a lot in 5-6 feet of water. Its a lot of fun when you can see them hit...
  8. For a first boat I would go with a tinny. Easier to manouver at the ramp and to re-adjust on trailer if its off a bit. Plus it pulls lighter.....

    wifi

I wouldn't read too much into it. A lot of landlords have apartments that are considered "not legal" because of all the crap you have to go through for it to be legal and conforming. The open wifi is either a convenience thing or just laziness on his part. I don't think anyone can break into your computer if your virus and spyware is up to date...
  10. I checked out the McCracken's site. It's 900 for a 16 foot.
  11. The Helly Hanson is comfortable....The alfa model has internal suspenders so you can remove the top section to cool off without taking the whole outfit off....
  12. THAT'S why we are getting fatter as a country!! Just trying to catch up to the Americans I suppose.....
  13. The best lakes are the ones that you can't drive right to the shore. Believe it or not the lakes up there are heavily pressured but that doesn't mean you won't do well if the timing is right. Grab a map and explore a bit and if you catch fish DO NOT tell the camp owner or anyone else there. The lake may very well be fished down by the next season.
  14. I don't think you can drive right to the lake. I thought they restricted access by stopping the road a bit before it gets to the lake. Pasha has boats stashed there so I would call Chad at the camp to find out the details.
  15. Rather than waste gas you could install an electric car heater. Just plug the extension cord into the heater and when you get up, plug the extension cord into the wall or have it on a timer..... The anti idling people will leave you alone as well.....
  16. Good job Dave!!
  17. Scugog seems to claim more lives in the winter than any other time of year....I hate to say it but it probably WILL happen this year too...
  18. We can charge our electric cars with solar on our roof tops....Oh crap..that means we would all have to work nights so the car is home during the day....nevermind..
  19. Make sure you do a little research on several different ones. We went with Canadian Scholarship Trust before we knew better. I wouldn't advise anyone to go with these guys. I'm not sure if they still have brochures in the hospital now but they did when my daughter was born. Kind of like a tow truck driver handing out cards for a lawyer or body shop at an accident scene ..preying on your emotions with an inferior product....
  20. With something as epic as this you need to smash a bottle of some kind when it's launched....but will it be beer, wine or.....??
  21. It's all good...The inspections etc. couldn't possibly be up to the same standards we are used to....
  22. It happened in Zimbabwe...I wouldn't trust them.....
  23. Home Depot does the same thing when they open a new store. Lots of happy staff to start up but within the year the stores' management has to start to show some growth in profits. It comes down to who made the best impression with the boss which does not mean they're keeping the best employees!! I'm surprised how harsh some people can be ....lol
  24. We just can't pick another lake to fish when there aren't many around. In this area there may be just a few lakes within an hours drive but in the north you could have hundreds....
  25. To do it in a third world country..crazy!!! Some people just love the adrenelin rush......
