  1. The best lakes are the ones that you can't drive right to the shore. Believe it or not the lakes up there are heavily pressured but that doesn't mean you won't do well if the timing is right. Grab a map and explore a bit and if you catch fish DO NOT tell the camp owner or anyone else there. The lake may very well be fished down by the next season.
  2. I don't think you can drive right to the lake. I thought they restricted access by stopping the road a bit before it gets to the lake. Pasha has boats stashed there so I would call Chad at the camp to find out the details.
  3. Rather than waste gas you could install an electric car heater. Just plug the extension cord into the heater and when you get up, plug the extension cord into the wall or have it on a timer..... The anti idling people will leave you alone as well.....
  4. Good job Dave!!
  5. Scugog seems to claim more lives in the winter than any other time of year....I hate to say it but it probably WILL happen this year too...
  6. We can charge our electric cars with solar on our roof tops....Oh crap..that means we would all have to work nights so the car is home during the day....nevermind..
  7. Make sure you do a little research on several different ones. We went with Canadian Scholarship Trust before we knew better. I wouldn't advise anyone to go with these guys. I'm not sure if they still have brochures in the hospital now but they did when my daughter was born. Kind of like a tow truck driver handing out cards for a lawyer or body shop at an accident scene ..preying on your emotions with an inferior product....
  8. With something as epic as this you need to smash a bottle of some kind when it's launched....but will it be beer, wine or.....??
  9. It's all good...The inspections etc. couldn't possibly be up to the same standards we are used to....
  10. It happened in Zimbabwe...I wouldn't trust them.....
  11. Home Depot does the same thing when they open a new store. Lots of happy staff to start up but within the year the stores' management has to start to show some growth in profits. It comes down to who made the best impression with the boss which does not mean they're keeping the best employees!! I'm surprised how harsh some people can be ....lol
  12. We just can't pick another lake to fish when there aren't many around. In this area there may be just a few lakes within an hours drive but in the north you could have hundreds....
  13. To do it in a third world country..crazy!!! Some people just love the adrenelin rush......
  14. I can see the local jerks buzzing the ice fishing huts they don't recognize...Not everyone has the resources to travel north to fish so every spot we lose hurts....We are already limited here with just a few decent lakes....Thank you slobs..
  15. If you weren't in Sudbury I would say yes it's too heavy to be on the ice....but with the cold you guys get, you will be fine....moving it in slush or deep snow may take some work though... Even if it dosen't work out as a hut, it would make an awesome bunkie for a cottager..
  16. I've heard good things about North Wind but it can get incredibly rough on a windy day. Their boats are the right size for that lake but if you bring a 5 hp motor it will get you into a lot of smaller lakes where the resort has boats stashed. On one of our secret lakes we caught an average of 25 fish an hour each but we had to carry our motor, gas and equipment about a half mile...As far as I know the jackfish has a two fish limit and a slot size...
  17. The fishing can be incredible if you hit the right lakes. The locals make sure they keep their good spots a secret so do some exploring and be prepared to work a bit. If you're in good physical shape and can carry a small boat or canoe into a back lake, you should find decent fish.

    OFAH

The OFAH provides a voice for fishermen(and women) and hunters. Even if you don't agree with the politics of it all,you need recognition in the cities where most decisions affecting us are made.
  19. Be thankful if you get anything at all from your employer.....Mine has no party, no bonuses and they don't let too many off during the holiday season.. We get a nice little letter telling us if we call in sick in the two weeks before Jan 2, we can expect disiplinary action that is more severe than the usual....which means a days suspension for each day taken off, sometimes even when you have a doctors note...if you're scheduled in on Christmas, too bad....some years they might let us trade shifts with someone who is off if they feel like being nice. But only if you can find someone who wants to work it...
  20. The colorado mated with a small diesel and a six speed would be awesome....North American car makers seem reluctant to build them....
  21. I have a colorado and if I had a choice I would get a full size with a small 8cyl to get more power and room with the same gas milege....The brake system is a nightmare and big bucks to repair and the factory Aluminum wheels are crap but otherwise it's a good looking truck...
  22. Looking at the picture tells me that there is a dip under the mat and that the water travels towards the foundation and the crack...Maybe as a quick fix you could tar the wall and put some cold patch in the low spot... what it really needs is to be regraded and sealed properly. At the very least extend the downspouts away from the foundation....
  23. It sure would have Dave...lots of anger Friday..
  24. looks like it was on only in the morning...
  25. It was nice to see so many retirees today!!
