Lowes in East Hamilton has them on clearance for $15....It's a small device that transfers propane from the 20 lb tanks to the 1 lb tanks. It pays for itself in only 4 refills. I'm not sure on the legalities of it all but it saves the tanks from going to the dump .....I have only had 1 that leaked and I put it onto a heater..leak solved... They are on an end isle near the plants etc....

I also know a fellow going through tough times..As soon as he was locked out at work the wife said "I want a divorce".....I guess she was only in it for the cash...

I don't hear too much about this problem just outside of Hamilton but in the new Binbrook subdivisions there seems to be a lot of rules on what you can put in your driveway, not to mention satelite dishes, clothes lines and older cars etc..whatever dosen't "fit" with the neighborhood standards....status symbols seem to be ok though...

I'm glad to live in an area just outside the city where I can put my pop up, boat and utility trailer in my driveway. I don't like being told what to do on my own property... I keep things neat, not junky though.....

Another thing that really pisses me off is the issue with the pollutants in the lake down the road...a five minute drive.. I really hope that the MOE comes down hard on the ones who did it.It's obvious where it came from!! The fish are still safe to eat four times a month but I limit my families exposure to 2 meals or less now.....

There's a Mayday rally in Ottawa on May 1st!!! We need to take control of our resources and companies!!We pay more and more for things but our pay doesn't go up along with it. Meanwhile the CEO,s and their buddies move production offshore to save a few bucks and ensure their bonuses. It really pisses me off when people say it won't affect them because it hurts all of us... It's great if you can absorb the extra costs but I'm at the point where I can't afford the gas to go fishing.....

You're right on with the price of the jeans AND the sunflower seeds are a great deal....I'm watching the birds eat them right now....(the sunflower seeds..lol)

Metro has good quality meat but way overpriced as well...I can go to highland in stoney creek..better quality, local beef and properly aged.....
-
I laugh when I see what people buy there..Mostly crap they don't need..BUT ,if you know your prices you can make it worthwhile...The vegetable prices are awfull, the meat is overpriced but very good quality(wait for the sales) and the clothes are priced right...Oh yea, good prices at the photo shop....

Bass Fisherman considering suing power company

Whenever I watch a Buffalo TV station, half the ads are for lawyers "get what you deserve" !!! I never see that on a Canadian channel..... -
Basa is also a product of Vietnam, farmed on the same river that carries raw sewage and chemicals from unregulated factories........ Just seen it at Walmart... As for Tilapia, if you knew what they were fed you wouldn't eat it.....

Raise fishing license fees for U.S. visitors??

Tough choices for sure...The American people are going to have to watch closely to ensure the goverment looks out for the common mans interest. 5.50 per person won't save them.... -

Either stop spending or raise taxes...sounds simple enough but I know it's not....How much a day for the military??? The 2011 budget for defence related expenditures are between 1 and 1.4 trillion which includes homeland security, the FBI, NASA, the military etc.....DO YOU feel safe??? Good Luck..I'm afraid the most vulerable will pay the biggest price...... -
I would have reacted the same way... I can no longer use the self defence plea because a little while back I had someone throw something through the window of our car(we reported it). I was so pissed about it that I posted on facebook something about being ready for them next time. The police then phoned and accused me of threatening with a gun. They told me that if something was to happen in the future it would be pre-meditated now. They wanted to take my guns away with no charges.... argh, here I go again...waiting by the phone for them to call again...

Binbrook Conservation Area - Dissappointment
pics replied to Uncle Buck's topic in General Discussion
Most private campgrounds are family owned and they do employ people but they have the advantage of not having to pay someone to stay overnight as well as early and late in the season. Chippewa Conservation area breaks even at best and money is very tight for conservation authorities...... The Hamilton Conservation Authority is closing the campground near the water park along the beach because it dosen't make any money... They plan to concentrate their resources at Fifty point..... -

Thanks Miller!! And to uncle Buck..lets hope the next time you visit is a much better experience..... Oh yea, I think the reason the gate house was closed at 3 was the student who was working started at 6 and since there is NO MONEY for overtime she was gone home... Everyone else was on the ice trying to get through the snowdrifts and slush with all the stuff from the derby..... -

The crappies were over populated for several years so there was an imbalance. When we set traps 18 years ago they were full of them, so many that other fish in the lake suffered. There is still a good population of them but lately we have seen other species like perch increase. When trap netting or fishing it was almost unheard of to see perch. 300 huts for a one day derby tends to slow the fishing down so it's not like everyone catches a dozen fish each. We know the population is getting smaller due to the average size being bigger than in the past. This also helps with other species in the lake.....At almost 500 acres it isn't a huge lake but it's big enough to support the ice fishing that a normal day would have.. Plus you only allowed something like 50-100 acres to fish in with the rest of it off limits...... -

There will be a new park superintendant next year...maybe things will change... As for the fishing I would think a lot of people would disagree that it sucks.... A trap net this summer held over 700 crappie and the pike are starting to show up after a couple of good year classes. We have seen a few walleye from the stocking we have done and just ask anyone that has fished bass there how well they are doing. We are working on more fish structure over the next few years...time and money..lol. Someone dropped the ball in regards to where they sent you to fish although many of the regulars would love to fish west of the trees... As for the snowmobiles pulling huts out..no,not unless there were some that struggled in the heavy wet snow and the guys were helping them out...Like I said we used the snow machines to pull our sleds full of equipment...small sleds = 15 or so trips.... I work with the Glanbrook Conservation Committee, no one is paid and we are not responsible for the prices to enter...We raise money selling food and drinks... Fishing world gives over 2000 dollars in prizes away with no money for them from the tickets..The entry fee is about the same as most derbies. They could always go back to the days where the park was closed in winter and anyone entering could be charged with tresspassing. Campgrounds don't make money for conservation areas... 24hr staff and facilities cost too much..it's break even with good weather... -

With 360 derby participants what would you expect?... Normally the old boat ramp is closed because it has a hill that's not paved and there's always someone that will get stuck. There may not be staff to tow your vehicle as well... As for the snowmobiles, they were there to haul out the equipment and prizes for the derby and to monitor fishermen...the weigh station and bbq was out in the middle of the lake. Feel free to volunteer next year to make things go smoother... very few that were helping were paid employee's.... -
My wife, daughter and I almost went on our first "hot vacation" to Florida..... until I got locked out at work... the vacation fund became the lockout fund ...Our honeymoon was our last real vacation 15 years ago...Oh well, the mortgage is being paid, hydro's still on and the credit cards are paid off AND we still have food in the fridge....

Without natural predators these birds will only get worse...... mineral oil is a better and more environmentally sound way to destroy the eggs.....
-
I'm thinking both were injured...they hit the ice pretty hard and both probably died later....
-
And every time they buy another competitor to add to their corporation, they consolidate production......in China...but the prices don't seem to go down much.
-
my buddy and I fished there last week..all the perch were wormy that we caught...We also caught and released about 15 largemouth bass...I'm not sure why they were so active?? Watch for the white chev truck with the cap on the back--poachers!! 3 rods each and they were keeping the trout!!
