  1. I will check them again, I thought it opened the 4th Saturday in June, we were going to fish them then if it does but I will double check
  2. Hope everyone's having a good Sunday so far, I leave tomorrow morning for a fishing trip to Aubrey Lake, and I'm looking for some last minute info, I am camping right by the trading post near Aubrey Lake, and was wondering if anyone had any info on some other lakes I could go to. One of my friends coming along is big into bass fishing so I would like to find a lake near us to fish for smallies, as long as we can lauch the 16ft alumacraft easily. I heard that the Missisagi river has good smallie fishing, but I have no idea where any launches are to get the boat in. Any info on any lakes or tips for what to use in the area would help immensely. Thanks in advance everyone
  3. So I am super excited as I have just booked a fishing trip to Aubrey Lake June 16-24th. A few friends and I will be camping about a mile from the lake. I have never been fishing there as all of my prior trips have been around Nipigon. Does anyone have any tips for fishing the lake, or at least some past experiences of fishing there? We want to target pike and walleye, and will also be trying to fish for some smallmouth bass. Also, I wouldn't mind trailering over to a different lake if it means better fishing. I just need to be able to tow in my 16ft Alumacraft fisherman and launch it with a truck. Thanks in advance, any knowledge or tips you guys have will help a ton and will be greatly appreciated as I know nothing about this lake.
  4. I would definitely like to take a couple pictures using your lures to promote them. Let me know
  5. did the same thing last winter going about 50mph also. really got my blood flowing when he hopped out from no where
  6. Ive seen many bears while out hunting, but luckily they haven't even noticed me
  7. A lot of you guys have had way more encounters than me, Probably the worst one i had was when I was out Rifle hunting for deer in a small, homemade ground blind. A wolf casually trotted by and didnt really pose a threat. All of a sudden it stopped, turned, and just started staring at me. Then it started to howl. Before I knew it there was 3 more wolves circling near the blind. I hunkered down and just waited. If they were to try anything Id give them a taste of the 45 Springfield XD on my hip and the 30-06 Remington in my hands haha. I decided to end the hunt earlier and just got out and started walking to the truck which was nearby. The wolves just slowly trailed me so with some quick thinking I pulled my truck keys out of my pocket and set the alarm off, wolves were gone in no time and had a nice, short, peaceful walk the rest of the way.
  8. What are some of the close encounters you've had with dangerous game such as bear or wolves? Would love to hear some of your stories. I personally have had many close encounters with bears and wolves and its always interesting to hear about others experiences , whether it be while hunting, fishing, or just hiking through the woods.
  9. Hi all, I am going on a fishing trip for a week and will be camping on Aubrey Lake off of 129. Was wondering if anyone has any fishing tips for the lake. Anything will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. So two years ago I was going through a fishing catalog and saw a lure called an Ugly Bug. Its a simple lure but super effective. I was nailing walleye and pike on it. It has been my go to lure on all my fishing trips for the past two years. Just wondering if any of you guys have ever heard or used one of these. It is made by the Gapen company.
  11. The lodge was unfortunately sold to a guy from Minnesota and there was some complications where he may not be able to open the lodge. Were going to Pasha Lake Cabins which is nearby but I'm sure that we will get up early and take a trip over to Wintering at least once.
  12. Wintering is absolutely my favorite lake. We about reached our two person limit on both pike (about 16-37in) and walleye(about 12-28IN.) but mostly nice size eaters. We caught fish on everything. One of my favorite experiences their was launching our boats in a small river with pencil weeds on both sides that we would drive down about a 1/4 mile to get to the main lake. As my grandpa and I were launching our boat our buddy Mike was in his boat with his friend Stan. Well long story short mike was just taking a cast while he was waiting to make sure his equipment was working properly and just for fun. He had a HUGE hit that caught him off guard and he set the hook. It took him a little while but he caught a 43 in Pike.....Wintering has such great scenery and is an outstanding fishery.
