I would think that if no one else was there by the 3rd week then you should be ok. Crown land is first come first served.. I don't know what the fishing is like but if you are only there for a week you may be tight for time unless you get a moose early..

Princess auto or Nando trailer on Rymal for the parts. If you don't want to do it yourself then I would go to Nando or Mohawk trailers...

Here in the Hamilton area we have no frost left in the ground. I was pounding posts with no resistance at all. Robins, redwing blackbirds and even bluebirds have been here for a while. The biggest indicator of spring comes from the birds and animals.. My daughters horse has been shedding like crazy for a week now..

I had a truck that was stolen and burnt as well.. Found on 6 Nations and towed to a yard in Burlington. What a royal pain in the arse considering I was located in Hamilton at the time.. I didn't take the first offer from the insurance company so I ended up with a bit more money but still not enough to get anything without another loan. The sad thing is that most of the people on the rez know who's doing the crime but won't say anything. There's no political motivation to go after the thieves either... It disrupts your life and finances and results in higher insurance premiums.. No wonder the guy in Binbrook took the law into his own hands when he shot a guy trying to steal his truck.. Around here it's advisable to have a kill switch and tracking device on your truck..

I am at work today and I watched a sailboat go past... Unbelievable.. My plans to ice fish in the Ottawa area while my daughter visits her friend during March break may be cancelled..

My father in law passed a little less than a year ago from cancer. He waited too long to go to the doctor and refused any alternative treatment. Himself, my daughter and I were supposed to go on a fishing trip but it wasn't meant to be. I got some great advice on a trip from Mr Borger so my daughter and I went but it would have been great to have him with us... There's some good advice and information here.. Good luck..

We can cast a line into open water all year long here in Hamilton. Sometimes within sight of the ice fishermen...

I don't have security clearance for that area.. Plus that type of thing will get you fired. Pete himself got into some trouble driving over there... There used to be good perch fishing off the dock at Erie works about 10 years ago and the ramp stayed open late into the year... If the launch was available at Bayfront I'm sure a few boats would be going out.. There was a guy out sailing on the bay last week!!

A calm, sunny day ice fishing.. Now that would work for me!! I still have this crazy hope that I will get out this year...

22 hours is a bit too much for me.. 14 to jellico and you are in a great area to fish and hunt.. Not so much for moose anymore but lots of grouse. The lakes have pressure but if you go off the beaten track you can find fly in quality fishing. Our last moose trip cost less than $350 each for 13 days because we stay in a trailer in the bush. We know of at least 4 groups from the Binbrook /Hamilton area who travel to the same places to hunt and fish. We head into town every 4-5 days to get more food from the freezer or have a shower at a house one of the groups own...

I have the same problem with mine.. Same brand but taking it apart is a lot tougher than a Shimano. I gave up trying and only use it on my ultralight in warmer weather.

Crappie are by far my favorite fish through the ice.. Too bad the ice is so poor this year in the south end of the province.. The explosion in interest in the last 30 years has made it tougher to keep honey holes a secret..

You can't deny that something isn't going on with the climate. Dying coral reefs, acidic oceans, the loss of arctic sea ice etc, etc.. Even if you don't believe in climate change, as outdoors people we should all be concerned about the air and water. I work on a coke ovens battery and the days of letting the ovens emitt smoke are gone and with good reason. Industry and consumers should both be doing whatever it takes to reduce harmful emissions to the environment.. I don't agree with the current cap and trade system or a Carbon tax because we really don't know where the money goes..

The North Bay Nugget had a few stories on him.. He had a license to operate on Nosbonsing but the ice was too thin. He defied the MNRF and moved his huts to Nip anyways due to what he calls safety reasons. He also accuses license holders of extortion because they won't sell him theirs.. He's a piece of work..

Depends on the lake.. Valens conservation area used to have great panfish fishing but so many limits were taken that the population crashed.. It has since recovered but only after a strict catch and release policy was enacted..

Hand him a fishing rod.. If he can bait the hook and take the fish off, then that's a good start.. If he can't or doesn't like to get his hands dirty, then we have a problem.. Lol.. This should apply to politicians of all stripes..

Too bad I couldn't make it this year.. Not enough time off between Christmas and new years... Maybe next time

when we used to weld a steel vessel the area to be welded was preheated to prevent any cracking later on.. with expansion and contraction the metal is stressed at any weak points.. I wonder if warming it with a torch before welding would help??
