  1. The old way of doing things has come back to haunt us time and again. Houston has always been prone to flooding but as humans we think we can outsmart mother nature. Usually this comes back to bite us in the arse.. In Ontario we learned the hard way from hurricane Hazel where not to build..
  2. I have been seeing these warnings about keeping your pet inside so they don't get eye damage.. Lol.. As if they would actually look at the sun to watch it.. The only species on the planet that is dumb enough for that is the human one..
  3. Open carry just seems weird to me.. Our north American society should be safe enough that you shouldn't feel you have to carry a gun to protect yourself.. As the old saying goes "just because you can doesn't mean you should"..
  4. lol.. We switched to a small town dealer from a big city one.. I think the small ones have a lot to lose if their reputation is damaged.. The big dealer changed the water pump after we complained about the transmission leak. They also told us that the oil dripping underneath was due to a sloppy oil change which isn't true because I did it myself and I'm very picky about spilling oil.. And most techs should be able to tell the difference between oil and transmission fluid.....
  5. I should add that I do my own because back when you actually had lube points on the front end, some of the shops would miss that part of it.. I found out the hard way.. Plus it gives me a chance to have a look under the vehicle.. I wouldn't have spotted the transmission leak in my wife's car before the warranty ran out. Took us a year and a half to get it properly fixed but only after we went to a different dealership where it was diagnosed right away.. I sometimes wonder why certain dealers hate doing warranty work.?? . We will be talking to GM Canada about our experience on this since they like to track the good and bad dealerships.. We usually get a call after each appointment encouraging us to give them top ratings, not this time.. They have also lost any future sales from us..
  6. not Dunnville... Anywhere but there.. Lol..
  7. I do my own.. My truck and the wifes car cost $40 each using synthetic and hers uses the dexos..$28 and change for the synthetic dexos at Walmart. I don't trust the quick lube places and the dealers aren't much better. I like to drain the oil for about a half hour or until all the drips stop.
  8. There were a couple of calm days last week! Not so much now.. Lol.. The hot weather seems to bring the southwest winds..
  9. Wow, that seems incredibly shallow.. I also wonder how the fish survive the winter unless it's spring fed somehow.
  10. Unbelievable.. When I mentioned it to my wife she immediately said that he was with a minor who deserves privacy.. I don't know if it makes much difference in the eye of the government though.. It would be very detrimental to the lakes to release this information and the person who requested the information only seems to care about their own ego.. I'm sure they are reading this thread and the Facebook one as well.. I'd say get a life and find your own spots.. Could even be one of the jealous people who chased him off of here...
  11. The fish from the Grand are especially pale when the water is murky.. Same thing with the fish from Binbrook.. Lots of fine suspended clay in those bodies of water.
  12. I used a panel to charge the batteries at a cottage we owned.. The 123 watt gave us a 7 amp charge at peak sun. You aren't using the boat every day so yes you can get a full charge after a couple of days.. By all means stop using the trolling motor or resort to carrying them to a charger if you don't want to try it..
  13. A fish will change colours depending on the habitat they are in. You can catch one in the river that looks pale but put it into a dark live well for a bit and it will look totally different..
  14. Buy a solar panel and charge controller...
  15. I used to have a cottage on the irondale river above 3 brothers falls.. It was awesome to snorkel below the falls.. Lots of small muskie around along with smallies and the biggest logs you could imagine..
  16. Personally I haven't had problems with him but I know a few locals who aren't too happy with the threats of being towed... I think if you follow the rules you are ok, plus parking up the hill ensures that your vehicle won't be messed with...
  17. I can see why Rob doesn't want anyone parking down the hill because it can get crowded.. The problem I have is he treats it like he is the owner.. He is not and he can't restrict access or fishing or have you towed for parking there... My buddy was fishing the same area but a week or two earlier.. Same results with the trout. They figured it was too early..
  18. yes it should be the goal of every landfill and when you move onto the reservation hopefully they will be far ahead of what happens off reserve... When you bury crap you no longer see it but it will come back to haunt you eventually.. As outdoors people we should all be concerned about preserving mother Earth...
  19. no disrespect, but shouldn't a dump on or around the reserve try to divert as much as humanly possible??. They should be the leaders in waste diversion...
  20. I could use a few more Plano boxes but it isn't life or death.. My old ones have latches that are breaking off... I will give the frogs a test soon..
  21. We wanted to move this year but it isn't looking good for that.. A place we could afford 2 years ago when it was for sale is back on the market for 400 grand more. I will always regret not buying that one.. 50 acres and a beautiful house.. Oh well, you should do well on the sale.. Simcoe has some nice places for a decent price...along with Waterford, Caledonia etc...
  22. I never pay more than $10..if I was a Musky fisherman I would have to make my own I guess.. Most of my limited time on the water involves jigs .
  23. I love my sportspal.. I just patched up a few leaks and it's ready to go. Mine has 2 pointed ends which is fine with a good motor mount. The 2hp Yamaha is nice and light so it doesn't cause the canoe to tilt too much.. If it was up to me I would have a wide transom as well and use whatever one works best for where I am going to fish.. I definitely wouldn't want to carry a wide transom very far through the woods.. The only mod I am plan on doing this year is to add a removable carrying yoke..
