Nice tribute on SNL to him as well as the victims who died in in Las Vegas. Jason Aldean, who was onstage during the shooting spree sang won't back down..

The walters are certainly a nice bonus!

My uncle lives in Clare on a beautiful little lake chock full of small mouth and chain pickeral. They look very much like a Pike to me.. My second favorite place in NS is Meat Cove. Amazing view from the top of the mountain and the chowder is the best. The stories of the locals and the mysterious fires is interesting..

I could weather a few weeks without power even if it was winter..

With Irma bearing down and political instability in North Korea, I can see it staying high for a while..

Caledonia By Pass closed/warning to travelers

Word in Caledonia is that there is a huge rift in native communities over the blockade. The OPP stopped a group on 6th line that was headed towards it with the intent of clearing it themselves.. -
I usually don't have any trouble finding wood.. I sometimes follow the city or their contractors and load up when they are done or on lunch. I got 4 good loads of ash out of confederation park in Hamilton when they were cutting there in the spring. I don't know of anyone who would sell logs around here but that would be a good idea for the years where I couldn't scrounge enough.. Splitting it is a different thing, I usually rent a splitter once a year but I'd love to find a good used one..

I took all my gas cans and filled them up at 99 cents a litre the day before it was supposed to be going up 5 cents because I knew that little increase was too good to be true. It's 30 cents higher and I still have 75 litres left. People complain about the price of gas but still go to Esso and pay 10 to 15 cents more than it costs at Costco or Pioneer. I save a couple of hundred dollars a year just planning my shopping and gas stops.. Better in my pocket than in the big oil companies ..

I could kill them with a sling shot up at Moose camp.. Usually I use the 410 but I may also bring my 1200 fps pellet gun this year. The Grouse won't flush but they will run three steps into the bush and wait for you to walk past..

It's up to the people of Caledonia to fix this because the government and police won't help.. If I lived there I would encourage a blockade of sixth line.. "Mr. Hill" is the only reason that it moved down the road.. He has a lot of influence and would have at least one blockade gone just by saying the word.. -
There are a lot of Walleye caught in the Bay near the Williams cafe right off the docks. I personally wouldn't eat them but it's a beautiful area to fish.

The old way of doing things has come back to haunt us time and again. Houston has always been prone to flooding but as humans we think we can outsmart mother nature. Usually this comes back to bite us in the arse.. In Ontario we learned the hard way from hurricane Hazel where not to build..

I have been seeing these warnings about keeping your pet inside so they don't get eye damage.. Lol.. As if they would actually look at the sun to watch it.. The only species on the planet that is dumb enough for that is the human one..

Open carry just seems weird to me.. Our north American society should be safe enough that you shouldn't feel you have to carry a gun to protect yourself.. As the old saying goes "just because you can doesn't mean you should"..

lol.. We switched to a small town dealer from a big city one.. I think the small ones have a lot to lose if their reputation is damaged.. The big dealer changed the water pump after we complained about the transmission leak. They also told us that the oil dripping underneath was due to a sloppy oil change which isn't true because I did it myself and I'm very picky about spilling oil.. And most techs should be able to tell the difference between oil and transmission fluid.....
-
I should add that I do my own because back when you actually had lube points on the front end, some of the shops would miss that part of it.. I found out the hard way.. Plus it gives me a chance to have a look under the vehicle.. I wouldn't have spotted the transmission leak in my wife's car before the warranty ran out. Took us a year and a half to get it properly fixed but only after we went to a different dealership where it was diagnosed right away.. I sometimes wonder why certain dealers hate doing warranty work.?? . We will be talking to GM Canada about our experience on this since they like to track the good and bad dealerships.. We usually get a call after each appointment encouraging us to give them top ratings, not this time.. They have also lost any future sales from us..

not Dunnville... Anywhere but there.. Lol..
-
I do my own.. My truck and the wifes car cost $40 each using synthetic and hers uses the dexos..$28 and change for the synthetic dexos at Walmart. I don't trust the quick lube places and the dealers aren't much better. I like to drain the oil for about a half hour or until all the drips stop.

Here we go again, winds, windy and windier!

There were a couple of calm days last week! Not so much now.. Lol.. The hot weather seems to bring the southwest winds.. -
Wow, that seems incredibly shallow.. I also wonder how the fish survive the winter unless it's spring fed somehow.

What is Wrong with People.....Updated Good Guys Win

Unbelievable.. When I mentioned it to my wife she immediately said that he was with a minor who deserves privacy.. I don't know if it makes much difference in the eye of the government though.. It would be very detrimental to the lakes to release this information and the person who requested the information only seems to care about their own ego.. I'm sure they are reading this thread and the Facebook one as well.. I'd say get a life and find your own spots.. Could even be one of the jealous people who chased him off of here... -
The fish from the Grand are especially pale when the water is murky.. Same thing with the fish from Binbrook.. Lots of fine suspended clay in those bodies of water.

A better way to secure 12V Batteries please.
pics replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I used a panel to charge the batteries at a cottage we owned.. The 123 watt gave us a 7 amp charge at peak sun. You aren't using the boat every day so yes you can get a full charge after a couple of days.. By all means stop using the trolling motor or resort to carrying them to a charger if you don't want to try it.. -
A fish will change colours depending on the habitat they are in. You can catch one in the river that looks pale but put it into a dark live well for a bit and it will look totally different..
