  1. There was a guy with a Savage .17 hmr rifle.. It was priced right but I lost the his phone number..lol.. Turns out the bassmasters didn't think it was appropriate for a fishing swap meet and escorted him out. They were going to call the police but other than maybe breaking one of their rules the guy didn't do anything illegal. I can see him being told to put it away but to almost call the police shows how ignorant people can be towards a gun...
  2. I picked up some jigs from bigugli.. good prices and quality..it was tough to spend much time talking with anyone due to the crowds..lol
  3. There was one at the sportsman show. They are made in stoney creek.. it seems like a solid unit but it's a bit expensive ..
  4. He certainly made politics interesting .. he was a great representative for his constituents.. too bad his personal demons got the best of him..
  5. I enjoy the odd fishing show but it depends on species... I just can't watch bass fishing...
  6. For the most part the show was decent. I was glad we brought food and drinks.. I didn't buy much other than a barrel harness from LeBaron which was $15 cheaper than at Sail.. we saw Dave from wicked tuna and the dog show.. with such high prices for a booth, you won't find too many killer deals at these shows like you used to.. I bought tickets online and used the OFAH promo code so they were $15 each.. I will skip the show for a couple of years unless there's something new to draw me to it.
  7. My wife, daughter and I are going tomorrow. We always pack a lunch and snacks at these shows. It will probably save us $30 doing this. I hate being charged $3 for a water that's worth pennies and even more for the food. Seeing the shows might make the show worth the price of admission...we will see..
  8. It was at 7:10..someone beat you to the lake..lol
  9. Heading home from work this morning I saw a Lund on the Redhill Parkway heading towards lake O..
  10. that's how I use my electric.. cut right through and remove the rib bones afterwards when I take the skin off.. a few years ago I was fishing in the Nipigon area and the guy I was with cleaned walleye with his filet knife the same way.. I think it's hard on the blade myself..
  11. Ok, that clears that up.. and yes let's hope..
  12. I have a few older knives that do the job adequately but has anyone tried using an electric sharpener? . Bass pro has a few in different price points that look as if they could get a nice edge on a knife.. I'm just not sure if they are a gimmicky item or are they actually useful??
  13. There's a very short perch run in Port Maitland but by the time outsiders find out its usually done.. I think the timing depends on the temperature..
  14. It was a sick kids ad.. brings tears to my eyes every time...
  15. She was an inspiration..I recently watched an ad for sick kids that she is in..
  16. actually I'm on top of the battery... we are running slowly so we don't run out.. lol
  17. I'd love to make a move away from the city.. I'm sitting in my machine tonight overlooking the harbor and skyway bridge thinking the amount of traffic is truly mind boggling .. at 6:30 the QEW was almost stopped. I can't imagine doing that every day. I grew up in different areas of the city and it wasn't until I lived out in blackheath(past Binbrook) that I realized I wanted to live on a farm. My current home is on the edge of the city that seems closer every year. Since my wife won't go North my best bet is going towards Niagara where it's more affordable.. anything with a bit of acreage here is a million and up. We are both tied to our jobs so the commute is an important part of the decision. In a perfect world we could make decent money somewhere with great fishing and hunting nearby ..that isn't my reality unfortunately....
  18. I fear if we have these in this style too often then people will tune out. Like I said before, a beep or series of beeps and a scrolling message would work just as well..
  19. This type of television warning was never intended for an Amber alert in the past. This amber alert never even met the criteria to be called one in the first place. There is a list of requirements that need to be met first. These red screen alerts will be ignored if they happen every few days.. originally the plan was for them for be on only when there is immediate danger to large numbers of people ( mass casualties) .. by all means flash something across the bottom of the screen but save the red screen for tornados, chemical leaks etc
  20. I have some people next door to me that are just as bad or worse.. last year was the last straw.. we are doing renovations to get the maximum value when we sell... that's if I don't end up in jail first..
  21. Eventually I would build a cottage but since I don't like too many people around I might have some trouble finding a place to build that isn't too far from the civilized world (for the wife and daughter) .. I would start off with a nice toy hauler to set up in the woods around Nipigon so that I could explore the back lakes..
  22. My wife and I bust our arses and we don't have any money left over for a decent vacation yet we make too much for my daughter to get free tuition!!.. I have been losing ground since 2007 with no end in sight.. only our resourcefulness has kept our heads above water ...
  23. Looks pretty darn good to me!!
  24. I've heard that there's a car crusher out on the reservation now so the problem is going nowhere ... too many cars were littering the bush lots and fields..
  25. I think people around here are tired of these thefts.. the police know where the trucks go and who is doing the crime. Since it happened to me 20 odd years ago, there has been no real effort to stop it.. I just don't get why it is acceptable to pass this skill on to the next generation ..
