captpierre Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 The Weather Network has forecast a warm and green Chrismas for southern Ontario. Normal colder temps this weekend but then warming up again.
LefroyFisherman Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 It's been ridiculous here just south of Barrie, I can't count the number of days I can go outside in a t-shirt in the last month
irishfield Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 I had a RUSH order come in yesterday for a set of hydraulic wheel skis... with some really weird size and rigging requirements on the supplied drawings. Thought it was one of those scams, as they paid in advance and are sending the military to pick them up! They must be done by this Friday so that they have a week to do the install. Maybe they'll take me with them to make sure everything works...
leaf4 Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 My neighbor is a teacher in Taiwan and purchased me a new snowblower so long as I keep his sidewalk and side drive clear while he's away... Ok deal
OhioFisherman Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 It's 65 degrees here now, if it wasn't for the wind and rain it would probably be a good day to hit Lake Erie for some smalies or walleye, perhaps a steelhead or two.
crappieperchhunter Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 Just went and dumped wood ashes from the woodstove on my veggie garden. It is so warm and dry I almost fired up my tiller to work them in. Never had a chance to do that in December before. While out there I noticed yellow dandelions in my yard and my clematis vines are budding which probably isn't a good thing for them. I'm getting real itchy for some ice fishing but I'm not minding no snow to shovel.
misfish Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 This is why you need to be a 4 season angler. If season 4 dosent get here, you can "FALL" back, on season 3. Troot,n Christmas day. It,s all good here.
dave524 Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 I recall , it was probably in the mid 90's, at my parents place near Fonthill, Christmas eve there were frogs croaking in the pond in their yard, think it hit high 60's during the day. Saw a fellow picked 5 dozen nightcrawlers near here last night.

lew Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 Last year was also warm & green so perhaps this is becoming the new norm.

Joeytier Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 This has got to be the first time I've seen every lake wide open this late into the year. Colder temps starting tomorrow, but still well above seasonal, I think we've had two days that reached -10 or colder so far this year, both were probably 2 weeks ago...ground is soft, unbelievable. I doubt we'll have a green christmas but it's entirely possible at this point. It will be interesting to see what the opener on Nipissing is like. Wouldn't surprise me if operators aren't able to get their huts out.
dave524 Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 57 here in Grimsby, warmest its been all day , thunderstorm went through couple of hours ago
lew Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 The Weather Network shows NO daytime temps below freezing for the next 14 days for the Eastern Kawarthas and only slightly below freezing for a few of the nights.
captpierre Posted December 15, 2015 Author Report Posted December 15, 2015 The one Syrian refugee was heard getting off the plane: "Hey Mohammed. Dude. This weather here ain't so bad, eh?" ?
dave524 Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Watching channel 2 out of Buffalo this morning, Lake Erie water temp is 48 and Lake Ontario is 46.
Acountdeleted Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 I'm used to a green Christmas, but not even SEEING snow before the new year, that's a new one. You have snow where you are Joeytier?
lookinforwalleye Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 I am looking forward to a green...January...February and March..

crappieperchhunter Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 out for a walk last night and the sidewalk was covered in dew worms,in mid december, can't say I have seen that before Really. I'll have to have a look here tonight when I get off work at Midnite. Never tried crawlers through the ice. Might give it a shot this year if I can pick some worms. Thx for posting that.

I only switched to roe when steelheading in the fall when I couldn't get nightcrawlers anymore, often a first drift on a hole produced on pressured fish that had seen a steady progression of spawn sacks all day.
