dave524 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Hopefully they find him! What's the water temp right now? 50 give or take , depending on the wind direction. Not good.
fishindevil Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 That's bad news for sure !! He won't last long in that lake at that temp !! He probably fell overboard by the sounds of it ?? Hope the outcome is not what it appears
Gnote Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Very scary stuff, i hope for a good outcome but i fear the worst. my heart goes out to his family.
Freshtrax Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Was at fishermans pier this evening gassing up and installing a vhf, Marine unit was headed back out after the thunderstorms . I fear the worst.

bow slayer Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I hate these endings,30 years old, makes 1 mistake and end of story,so sad.
Mister G Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Most males who fall overboard are found with their flies open........guys use a pee can and please don't relieve yourself over the gunnel.
MrSimon Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Sad reminder that it's best to take a fishing buddy with you if you can. And if not, wear a life jacket and keep your cell phone in a water tight bag on your person. Especially on big water.
manitoubass2 Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 Geez. So sad. Rip to him and condolences to the family. Water is dangerous, please take all necessary precautions people.

I'm also a firm believed in this... I do a lot of cold weather fishing and a lot of night fishing... There's not many people around to help you if things go bad... I have a Gatorade bottle that's been in my boat for YEARS... Anyone that has fished with me has probably used the bottle we so fondly call "Dirty Gurty" ... She's old and dirty and seen her fair share of... Well you know... But I've never had a close call using Gurty... Over the gunnels I've had a few close calls...
fishindevil Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 thats too bad,not the ending we were all hoping for...sad news indeed happens all to often,

But I've never had a close call using Gurty... Over the gunnels I've had a few close calls... I have something similar..........a old one qt plastic square jar that has a large opening with a screw on lid. When not in use I fill it up with lake water to hold it down in the splash well area of my boat. I have had it for years also and last year actually put a little bleach in it because it was getting a green moss inside....LOL
irishfield Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Just use a milk pitcher for the plastic bags. Get one at the dollar store... already has a handle to hang off the boat and more importantly to get a good hold on the container when nature calls. As for the boater, condolences to his family. How it happened doesn't matter to them... Edited June 10, 2015 by irishfield
