  1. Looks like a long, slender fish built for speed.
  2. I've been using PP on a couple of my salmon / muskie rods (50 & 80 lb.) for the last few seasons and never had a problem. Also been using Fireline for many years at smaller diameters for panfish, walleye, pike, trout, bass, etc. Never a problem, except for a couple of birds' nests, but that was my fault. My casts with Fireline are easily twice the distance of similar mono line.
  3. Some very nice lakers. Thanks for the report and video.
  4. Glad Sheri is alright. Good thing it wasn't a moose.
  5. Cheers dude !
  6. Welcome to the board. Same here !!!
  7. Best wishes on your birthday Norm. CHEERS !!!
  8. Nice trout. How can you think of school when those sweet fish are calling your name ? I used to skip classes to go fishing. Guess I turned out to be just as crazy as anyone else who wets a line.
  9. I've seen a few cars (2 wheel drive) spin tires & sink in the sand trying to pull up boats off the beach at Frenchman's Bay. Used to go there with a Jeep CJ back in the late 80's and never had a problem. Had huge tires and the low gear 4 x 4 pulled the boat out like a tractor. Pulled out a couple of guys who were stuck in a matter of seconds. I really miss that vehicle. My first 4 x 4. Wish I still had it. I was out there many times with a 14 footer, but always careful. Heard of more than one small boat getting swamped and sinking in rough water. Just keep an eye on the wind speed. If the wind is calm or light from the west, you'll be fine. Even a light breeze from the north is OK. Good luck !!!
  10. You can check the Credit River Anglers Association for info Skeeter. They lift trout over the dam in Streetsville (Mississauga). Here's their site: CRAA
  11. "When does the old mill get hot ?" When da old fe-mill is ready, she make him hot. I haven't fished the Old Mill in years. The fall was always good for salmon and brown trout. Some rainbow trout coming up in the spring, but I only caught a few. I would imagine there are some in there right now. Be aware of the no fishing zone (sanctuary) below the first dam (north of Old Mill bridge). I think it extends 25 metres below the dam.
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYNE !!!
  13. I'd be happy just to find some time to get out fishing, let alone actually landing a nice bunch of fish like you have here. Thanks for sharing the report and pics.
  14. I have an 2007 Ford Escape and it does the job just fine. I pull a 16 ft. boat all the time without issues. They're rated for 3500 pound towing capacity.
  15. We drive on L. Simcoe every winter and have been ever since I can remember, but when it starts to warm up, the trucks stays on shore. Running water finds its way through cracks in the ice and erodes the ice very quickly. I've see a 10 inch drilled hole (late season) double in size from running water in just a few hours, not to mention thinning the ice around the hole as well. Call me a wimp if you must, but I'm a live wimp.
  16. I have a 14 ft. Princecraft with a 1978- 35hp Evinrude. Runs excellent and trolls slow for lakers or walleye if needed. Did some work to it when I got it about 13 years ago (new cdi pack, tune-up, electrical wiring, prop) Never had a problem after all the work was completed.
  17. Very nice way to end the season Emil. Thanks for the report and pics.
  18. Sweet rig Gavin. Don't forget to show us the pics of the maiden voyage, first fish, etc.
  19. When you find her Terry, let me know if she has a sister !!!
  20. I don't think there is a limit for ling on Simcoe. Don't recall anything in the regs, but I wasn't exacly looking for ling regs anyway. I would imagine they are considered a coarse fish and therefore, probably do not have a daily creel limit.
  21. WOW !!! Some sweet fish you caught. Good job. thanks for sharing.
  22. Sweet fish for your first whitey douG. Congrats !!!
  23. I've been crossbow hunting for about 13 years, but never any other bows. I love watching the wildlife go by from the tree stand. Sometimes I have birds land right on me thinking I'm part of the tree. Might give the compound bows a try soon. Looks like fun. Good luck !!!
  24. Sorry to hear about all the troubles on your ice fishing trip Fang. Despite the breakdown and damaged equipment, you managed to come home with a decent fish for your team.
  25. A sweet spot for sure. I wish Diane and yourself many years of enjoyment at the new place. cheers !
