Happy birthday Jo !!! Cheers !!!
  6. Fresh walleye make a really nice meal. Were you trolling , casting or jigging for the eyes ? Thanks for the report and pics.
  7. Nothing wrong with a nice cruise on the water and taking in the sights. Getting fish is a bonus. Good luck on the water this season Lew. cheers !!!!
  8. Very good of you to try and locate the owner T Fisher.
  9. Nice fish and pics Aaron. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
  10. I've had a Rapala digital scale for years. I used to use it when salmon fishing the tournies. If the fish wasn't large enough to enter for prizes, it went back right away. I didn't agree with lifting a fish vertically that may be released, but did what I had to to participate in the tourny. Weighing the fish in a cradle would be better, but I never had a cradle, so did the best I could with what I had. It works very well and is accurate, but if you bang it around or keep putting heavy weight on it, it could be off a few ounces. I found that it was off by 2 to 4 ounces on a 30lb, salmon. Not bad. Had it replaced and the new one I have has hardly been used.
  11. Congrats Matt. You're living my dream.
  12. Spent some time with family, got outdoors and fished for a while, caught some fish, nice day at waters edge. Looks like a banner day to me. Cheers !
  13. I was going to suggest talking to Fishing Fury, but I see he already chimed in. I've never fished fished Jacks myself. Bring us back a report and pics. Good luck !
  14. Excellent ! A sweet fish dude. Now I'll have salmon on the brain until at least September.
  15. There are probably 5 to 10 beavers shot around the area we deer hunt every season. Their dams flood the dirt the road and wash it out. (only car/truck access to the area) They also flood some prime habitat for the other creatures that live around the area. Aside from introducing your current problem to a piece of hot lead, I'd say thick wire mesh or metal rods (or combination of the two) to block access to the dock would be a longer term solution. You could probably find materials needed at a scrap yard. Make sure whatever you do, it blocks all access to your dock. If you just block the door to the home, the beaver will get through in another spot. Good luck !
  16. Thanks for sharing your trip and pics with us Dave. Some excellent shots.
  17. SWEET POST !!! It's like my dreams coming true through your adventures. Some excellent photos....as usual. Thanks
  18. Been here quite a while. Since '01 / '02 I think. Yes, many of the above mentioned names, and those not to be mentioned, are familiar to me. First fishing site I ever joined and still the one I most often frequent. Met many great people here, both online and in person. Thanks TJ.
  19. Sweet fish !!! Congrats and thanks for sharing.
  20. I've always wanted to fish the perch festival in past years, but somehow never managed to participate. These days, I'm too busy with work, family and the "HONEY DO" list. More time fishing is something I look forward to in retirement.
  21. I've been checked a few times while fishing. Never a problem. Also checked once while driving the logging roads moose hunting. Three of us in the truck. I got out to stretch my legs (unloaded rifle in hand) and the CO got really nervous as I walked around while he talked to the other guys. I had to reassure him I was just stretching my legs because we had been driving for a bit. He kept a close eye on me, but seemed to relax a bit as the conversation went on. Nice guy and I don't blame him for being nervous. I would be too if I was alone and stopped 3 guys with rifles on a quiet logging road in the middle of nowhere.

    Snakes!

We were at a hockey tournament in Waterloo last weekend and had some time to kill, so went to the banks of the Grand river. A nice trail along the shore and the kids found one of them slithery critters crossing our path. Nice pics. thanks
  23. I had a Subway sub a couple of days ago at the location across from the Oakville GO station. They had the big Dave Mercer "Win my boat" contest sign right by the cash register and ballots on the counter. I filled out the ballot & dropped it in the slot. Figured "what the heck", I was already in there to get some eats, so I'll give 'er a go.
  24. Some sweet trout in those shots. Very nice report and pics Thanks.
  25. I've had the VHF operators certificate for 20 years. Yes, back then, I needed the station license as well. Did my course at the Humber College campus in south Etobicoke (Lakeshore & Kipling) in Toronto. If I remember correctly, the course was run by the Power & Sail Squadron. Class or self taught, good luck on the exam Lew.
