  1. Agreed, Joc is the man, like they say it`s worth the drive to Woodstock
  2. A lot of what your are looking for is already in a Ranger. Check out this link to Ranger Boats TV, you get an inside and behind the scenes look at the attention to detail and craftmanship that goes in to these boats and you'll hear a lot of talk about pultrusion which is a Ranger patented product, another thing to consider is also the trailer. General Link (below) there are 16 videos all together ranging from the timeless classic Fiberglass Vs. Aluminum argument, hull deck lamination, floatation, finishing/rigging and the RangerTrail trailers. http://www.rangerboats.com/rbtv/index.cfm?rid=6 I recently attended the Ranger Advatange plant tour at the end of November and it was very very impressive. Here's another vid which I'm sure you'd be interested in and many will enjoy of the plant tour I found on YouTube which is very well done - As any fyi and as a future new boat owner, did you know Ranger Boats can go back and build you a brand new seat for a boat someone purchased as far back as 1968 and match the same stitching, colours and patterns - THAT is impressive and very few if any can do that today. Hope this helps and have fun!
  3. Though many would find this interesting having recently complete my MED-A3 and SVOP courses, nobody is obligated to tow anyone not even the Coast Guard or Police as you then become liable for any and all damage that occurs to their vessel as well as yours. Sec 4.3 - The federal government or its agents will not compete with commercial or private interests to provide assistance. Here's the link to the entire page if you wish to read - http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/e0010194 Cheers G.
  4. Awesome fish for sure & great team work indeed! Not only did it help us win the Grimsby Tackle Summer Saturday Salmon Series Derby and be the largest king weighed in to date for the derby, that king along with another king weighing 24.34# won us 1st place overall as well as big fish in the Strait Line Angler/Grimsby Tackle Salmon Dance tourney for a combined weight of 59.26# setting a new tournament record! Thanks for the great day gents Cheers G.

  7. I would recommend getting touch with Ben Woo & Sheldon Hatch of Woodoo Customs, 2 guys in the fishing industry who know what they're doing and have done plenty of great work as well as Canadian! Check'em out - http://www.facebook.com/WoodooCustoms Cheers G.
  8. Chech these out, i know a number who have these and fish the great lakes and are very satisfied. http://shockmasterpedestals.com/ Hope this helps. Cheers G
  9. I agree as I have one of those vests as well. However if I had to buy a new one or recommend a vest to someone it would not be a PFD but an inflatable lifejecket since there in now one available, the first and only Transport Canada approved inflatable Lifejacket which was introduced by Mustang Survival just this past June and sells for I believe $335. This will ensure you're floating face up should something unfortunate occur and you're knocked unconcious. http://www.mustangsurvival.com/about-mustang/news/2011-06-22/mustang-survival-launches-canadas-first-and-only-transport-canada-appr Cheers G.
  10. Both are solid units, the Simrads are faster, brighter and do have a touch screen. I've played with them a bit and more recently yesterday @ the London show in Angling Outfitters booth. One thing to consider regarding the Simrads since it is a touch screen like your iPhone or Blackberry Torch is they don't work all that well when your fingers are wet/clammy. So if you don't have a hardtop boat and it's raining out and the screen is getting wet I would expect less than optimal or even frustrating performance. Also try to imagine moving the screen around while your running in a chop and your finger is bouncing on/off the screen. Just something to consider, hope this helps. Cheers G.

  12. For something a little more budget minded which would allow you to have several for the various techniques I would also recommend taking a look at the new Okuma Dead Eye series walleye rods that are being introduced this spring, 23 rods in the new series. Hope this helps. Cheers G.
  13. Should be a great show! Cheers G.
  14. I recommend giving Joc a call @ Angling Outfitters in Woodstock. He'll answer all of your questions and get you set up with what you need for your style of fishing AND set it all up so it'll be plug & play all at a great price, 519-539-5494. He carries both Humminbird & Lowrance. Cheers G.
  15. Hoping we can get another one together in the next week or so! Cheers, G
