Although they may have a refund of their vendor fees I'm sure a lot of exhibitors already put out money beforehand. It was already hard for retailers there to recoup their costs and all the extra stock they're now stuck with they're going to have to sell off somehow..

Close to what I'm looking for except I want a double console so that it can be used as a family boat as well...

I have the 2018 version and has been rock solid. 50,000 k and it has not been babied. 3 trips to the Nipigon area, 1 to Quebec and another pulling my camper to PEI.. I will have to keep it for awhile because it has some scratches from the bush.. my only complaint is that the wheels and tires are for in town driving and not off road..

If they come close just start hacking and coughing.. problem solved.. In all seriousness fishing is probably one of the safest things you could do in a pandemic..

It's been a while since I have targeted Crappie and I miss it. There was a study on them years ago and the population is susceptible to collapse from year to year. As much as 40%.. The good thing is that they can rebound ..

I guess because it's a national magazine they have to include areas from across the country. I would think NW ON has some of the best in the world..

It's an interesting lake for sure. The Ontario side is wilderness while the Quebec side is farmland. The fish are light colored due to the suspended clay particles in the water.. Google earth gives you an idea of how vast the lake is.. I'd love to fish it one day..

One of the guys I fish with up Near Nipigon gets a little excited at net time.. You would think as a former resort owner and guide that he would be cool as a cucumber but man he used to yell at how we even reeled in the fish..Thankfully he's mellowed in the last few years and actually let's someone else run the boat and net the fish although he still hates losing a fish. It's not like we don't catch a lot because we almost always limit out...

My wife and daughter really wanted a rink but I stood firm and said no... it takes too much of my time just to melt away.. this year has been one of those where it would have melted before it was done..

Now that's a day for the memory books..

When I go to my Aunts place in Nova Scotia there's a bald eagle that follows us on the lake until we feed it fish.. not unlike the ones on Nipigon that will come when they see you cleaning fish on shore. At moose camp we have skunk, mink and whiskey jacks that show up for meals of Grouse guts..

12 Coyote found dead NOTL/MNR investigating

Since they have an Open Season all year they were probably legally hunted but disposed of in an unethical manner.. -
I have to say.. Yellowknife is beautiful and I really hope to visit my cousin up there next year..

Shore fishing and ice fishing around Parry Sound

Watch the parking regs. The township of Georgian Bay to the south does not allow roadside parking and signage is minimal to non existent. You will get a ticket... I don't know if Parry Sound is the same.. -
My cousin, his wife and 2 kids are participating in it. His son was filmed for a segment to be aired this weekend...

Depends where you live.. I am minimum 2 hours from any ice and that's if I can get through Toronto without slowing down..
-
We have coyotes at work.. they will stand and watch you but so far they haven't bothered anyone... with close to a 1000 acres there are plenty of areas that they can hunt for rabbits, cats and geese when they are nesting. Thankfully they are relatively small and don't seem to have interbred..
-
So far this year I haven't even looked at my ice gear. It isn't looking too good for the rest of the season either. We don't even have frost really because I was able to put up a temporary fence to keep the dogs out of the worst of the mud.. the rebar went right into the ground without any hammering..

Scary stuff.. and yeah it can happen anywhere. Surrounded by water may give a false sense of security. We have boaters living all year round in Hamilton too. I'm surprised that I haven't seen any out of their slips.. only commercial crafts are moving around..
-
Except for my pay.. I have lost a good portion of my buying power in the last 10 years.. a new boat is out of the question..

So that's what a real winter looks like.... lol

We regularly get yotes at our back fence. They will also try to lure domestic dogs for an ambush.. I don't know why they have evolved to weigh as much as 50 pounds without interbreeding with either dogs or wolves.. most would weigh in around 35 to 40 pounds..

My cousin works in Yellowknife and hes been posting about the cold as well..

Tonight at work we had a potluck.. porchetta, meatballs, cannelloni, fruit and veggie trays and piles of desserts... and since I'm going to be a bit of a zombie tomorrow we're having the traditional turkey dinner on boxing day..

We are humming along.. I spend quite a bit of my breaks studying Google earth. I think I need to order a map of Nipigon for my possible spring trip...
