Marinas cannot be used for recreational boating
pics replied to mamona's topic in General Discussion
The people of the maritimes have also done well because they recognize that the health of one affects the health of all. They tend to respect and care for each other far more than the people of Ontario do. That being said the federal government allowed flights into Pearson from all over the world because they didn't want to offend anyone 🙄. The vaccine rollout is another nightmare altogether -
Crown Land camping suspended until further notice
pics replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
The no crown land camping policy is just plain stupid. They know how and where the virus spreads so apply appropriate protection where needed. I have a cousin who had it in September and he still has blood oxygen issues and may for the rest of his life. We've had a dozen cases in my department at work and I know many friends who have had it.. luckily only a few cases were severe.. -

I suspect that this lake can be tricky to figure out, hence the bleach bottles marking the spots. When you are on a fly-in with limited time that makes sense. I fish a small lake up in Greenstone that has Walleye and pike and the Walleye are rarely found more than 50 yards away from a very small point of land. The strange part of this is that there are no discerning features on the depthfinder that would indicate a good fishing spot. I bet many of those fly in lakes are similar in nature. As much as I dislike trolling for Walleye, it can be an effective way to find those types of spots. It's true that 90% of the fish are in 10% of the lake..

The more southern Ontario resorts were fully booked but Northwestern ones were hit hard. Apparently most people think that it's too far to drive past Temagami.. -
Bass pro sells the jaw jacker so I assume you can use it..

Takes 2 days just to get to a decent spot..

Thats cool.. I've seen that on Lake Erie near crystal beach..

Walleye are thick in the Jackfish.. there are a couple of big houseboats that spend the summer up there and they are like floating lodges.. 200 plus fish in a boat is not unheard of.. I hear the ride up is not forth faint of heart.. imagine a lake that's about 5 times the size of Simcoe but with no cottages and little to no contour maps..

Boating just a few miles gets you away from others if you launch on the Onaman river
-
As long as the batteries are charged they should be fine in the boat.. many of the shrink wrapped boats still have their batteries in them over the winter..
-
Unfortunately for resort owners and outfitters most people in Southern Ontario consider "up north" to be Muskoka or North Bay..

I ordered a pack of these from Amazon and you have to pay attention to the reviews.. the ones I got have been good..

Watching the morning news here in Hamilton.. this is our main ice fishing area..the swans and ducks are happy and someone is possibly living on their sailboat at the dock..

From what I'm hearing Lake Nippising is already a sh#tshow due to a lack of good ice in the south. I can imagine getting a hut after the lockdown will be next to impossible if our lakes don't freeze up sufficiently. Long point bay is an hour and 20 minutes from me so I consider it to be my home waters..at this rate I will have to pull the boat back out..

Nice report.. my plans for fishing Nipigon and staying in "the cabin"(you may know of this secret place) was canceled due to covid and the fact that we would be coming from a virus Hotspot. I have worked through the entire pandemic so I had to stay close to home once the ramps opened.. the grand river and long point bay are decent but can't compare to the north..

Guys like that need to retire or sell the business. They're jaded..not as bad as the old guy at Fosters fishing in Quinte was though..that guy was mean..
