Personally I would save the side trip for another time. If you are going on a fly-in trip you want your cold and frozen stuff to stay that way as long as possible. Cochrane isn't too bad for a one day trip. We pass through it on our way to the Nipigon.. we don't have to worry too much about thawing..

If you get a MinKota make sure it has the maximizer on it. It will make a difference in battery life..

A friend of mine had his cached boats damaged with an axe. A fairly easy repair but after that he hid them better. He figured someone accessed the lake with a float plane and didn't want anyone else in there..

You have to act fast on the good boats. When I bought mine last year I went with cash for a down payment, then went right to the bank for a draft when I decided I was buying it.. it was a bit of a gamble as it was 3 hours from my house. Mine is also a Sylvan and it's my second one.. they are good solid boats..

The ramp is open to essential launching only.. whatever that is. BOQ should be ok for fishing as long as the ramps are open because I doubt they have a marine unit patrol..

Bayfront ramp is open here in Hamilton and the police marine unit is actively stopping and harassing boaters. They have to leave or be ticketed

Once interest rates rise there will be less disposable income and stocks like this will drop back down..

The people of the maritimes have also done well because they recognize that the health of one affects the health of all. They tend to respect and care for each other far more than the people of Ontario do. The no crown land camping policy is just plain stupid. They know how and where the virus spreads so apply appropriate protection where needed. I have a cousin who had it in September and he still has blood oxygen issues and may for the rest of his life. I suspect that this lake can be tricky to figure out, hence the bleach bottles marking the spots. When you are on a fly-in with limited time that makes sense. I fish a small lake up in Greenstone that has Walleye and pike and the Walleye are rarely found more than 50 yards away from a very small point of land. The strange part of this is that there are no discerning features on the depthfinder that would indicate a good fishing spot. I bet many of those fly in lakes are similar in nature. As much as I dislike trolling for Walleye, it can be an effective way to find those types of spots. It's true that 90% of the fish are in 10% of the lake..

It sucks because I was hoping to get out for the early season bite.. I will continue with the work on my house and yard I guess 😅
