  2. ding ding dind.. you win dumbest comment award..
  3. This one really bothers me.. His show was by far my favorite and he never hid his past which was refreshing to see. One of the best story tellers of our time..
  4. $1800 a month for rent is crazy..my mortgage is less than that by several hundred bucks.. eventually something has to give with this kind of market.. There's only so much money to go around...
  5. Sad story.. You have to be very careful with boats and alcohol, especially in a remote location...
  6. found a nice little 12 footer...
  7. Looks like the weather was good.. The fishing too..
  8. sent you a PM
  9. I'm kind of worried about my job... we were supposed to expand our steelmaking but now I'm worried about even having a job..
  10. I am heading up there mid June.. We are staying inland and may take a trip to Nipigon for some Pike fishing. If I had a bigger boat I would stay out on the lake on an island. I look forward to seeing your report!. I know the backroads can be interesting but I have been hunting moose in the area for a number of years which gives me an idea of where we will fish... I spend nights laying awake working on my list...
  11. looking for a reasonably priced 12 foot aluminum within 2 hours of Hamilton.. getting tired of the scammers on kijjij...lol
  12. Hopefully I can get into some whitefish when I go to the Nipigon area in June.. I would love to smoke one..
  13. What kind of wood is the best for whitefish?.. I would think maple or apple/pear would be good rather than hickory but I haven't tried to smoke one yet..
  14. I haven't really found a great method for ribs yet but for salmon I use a simple water, kosher salt and brown sugar brine.. I found that apple gives the best flavour for fish along with a maple syrup glaze.. All of my smoking wood is stuff I cut myself so I can choose the size. I recently tried a combination of soaked chunks and dry sawdust and it worked great.. Offset smoker with homemade charcoal..
  15. Lots going on.. Lol.. The power is back on thankfully.. .I think we have all of our shingles but a lot of damage around the area..
  16. One gust at the Hamilton airport was reported at 127km/h.. all the new homes around us are losing shingles..of course they use OSB and cheap 3 tab shingles so what can you expect...
  17. Last year I looked over the side of the boat and there was a pike eyeing the Walleye that was on the stringer. I quickly pulled up the stringer and the pike went after my nephews jig.... He joined the walleye on the stringer..
  18. I have a tiny patch of snow left in the yard.. I may pull up a chair just to cheer on its demise..!
  19. The fine seems to be in line with the offence this time.. 3 thousand dollars is a lot for too many crappie. They are one of my favourite fish but in most lakes they are actually invasive. Hopefully this sends a signal that limits will be enforced...
  20. The overnight news on Friday was saying that the truck T-boned the bus. By morning it was "under investigation" which means that the police weren't about to jump to conclusions. Witnesses or survivors may have been the ones mentioning the fact that the truck blew the stop sign..
  21. If it's the same Martin lake North of Northwind then you can't drive to it.. We made our way in to the lake last year but didn't fish it.. ATV, canoe and bush wack.. Lol.. Very pretty lake but I'm not sure how the fishing is. Years ago there was a cabin on it that I believe a logging company had been using.. The loggers fished it heavily at the time..
  22. I believe that you have to walk in once at the gate.. The Ontario government created the conservation reserve back in the early 2000's.. Bauers has benefitted for sure but I don't think they had anything to do with it... There is a limit to the number of boat caches (15) for commercial operations and 29 private, the private ones being scattered at different ares of the lake.. We moose hunt up there with a trapper ( his zone) and the maze of old logging roads lead to a lot of interesting places...
  23. Yes, you need to rent a boat from an outfitter at Onaman..I have never fished it due to the fact that we have easier access to smaller lakes in the area..
  24. An extra prop is probably on your list already.. Definitely a small tool kit as well..
