  1. Simon is right about the privacy issue with drones.. People worry about them but they really should worry about internet security. Amazon echo or Google home in a kids bedroom?? THAT is nuts!!.... If people followed basic rules and common courtesy then we wouldn't need all these laws..
  2. The loss of a loved one is really tough the first year without them. Too many of my friends have lost family members this year. I have a friend who died in an Atv crash and she left a 5 year old daughter and an old friend lost her 14 year old to suicide recently.. I was scheduled to work on the 24th and 25th nights but I was fortunate enough to have the seniority to take vacation days.. I missed the chance to make the big bucks on Christmas day but money means nothing if you miss too many of them with your loved ones..

Sail has 20% off all fishing and hunting gear with exceptions on a few things of course.. Excellent prices on ice fishing items..

I was at Sail recently.. . Buckshot spoons I like were 5.50 plus 20 % off.. Sails 5.50 regular price was less than the sale price at Cabela's.. Bass pro isn't much better.. They are 8 something at Walmart and almost 10 bucks at Canadian Tire..
  5. I had an 07 Colorado.. Most reliable truck I have ever owned and I still see it driving around town..
  6. There's a chocolate toxicity chart online and it even lists the type. White is not toxic while dark 70% can be severe. A 50 pound dog would have to eat 2 pounds of dark for it to be severe.. Milk chocolate is not high on the list for toxicity..
  7. Years ago there was a truck crash on Hwy 11 involving a load of chocolate. The locals loaded up on the stuff and a local bear guide also grabbed a few hundred pounds. His dog got into the shed where it was stored and ended up dying after eating a bunch of it..
  8. I love hunting but finding a spot is tough when you live near a major metropolitan area...
  9. I feel for the workers at these plants. An assembly line is certainly not a fun place to earn a living. I work with a girl that quit Toyota..the money was good but the beating the body and mind takes wasn't worth it to her, especially after she turned 40..
  10. Birds clue in pretty quickly when it comes to hunters. The first time they are shot at it sticks in their mind. We may have to get creative.. My buddy shoots European house sparrows at his feeder so he has very few around but it doesn't affect the other birds because they know that they aren't the target..
  11. 83 employees died in the first world war and 3 in Korea.. My uncle served in the Navy in the 70s and 80s as a cook. I can only imagine being in the kitchen with the ship pitching and rolling.... He is now living his final days in a hospital bed at home with a breathing tube. Asbestos, smoking and cooking in a confined space took its toll.. It's a reminder of how many die away from the battlefield..
  12. We have a cenotaph and memorial at Stelco to honour the employees who fought.. I don't know how many served in WW1 but we had 2097 in the second world war with 84 dead. At that time in history women didn't work in factories but they filled in for the men who were off fighting and when they returned the women were let go. The company produced steel for millions of shells in the first world war and enough steel for thousands of ships and tanks in the second.
  13. I had an off-grid cottage for 5 years and I enjoyed the spring show but we sold it and never went back.. It seemed to cater to a market that was way above our budget..
  14. Lots of room for fraud, especially with hunting tags.. This will go south quickly.
  15. I haven't read it yet but it looks to be a dandy... One quiet morning with a coffee in hand I will read it..
  16. Those are some good sized walleye.. I don't have the money for a fly in but I have some pretty good drive to lakes up that way.. Heading up in 10 days for some Grouse and fishing..
  17. It's possible that they could survive the warm water outflow around the steel mills for a short time...
  18. As far as I know Cormorants are not protected federally.. The province was in the process of putting Bill 205 through the legislature to allow them to be shot on sight. It died when Wynne prorogued parliament..
  19. My uncle has a place less than 2 hours from keji and his lake is full of them along with smallmouth bass.. used to be a good trout lake at one time but they are long gone.. I swear there are northern pike in there as well but all the locals call them pickerel..

    Krocs

Got a pair for the shower at work but they aren't good for traction.. I also have a pair for launching the boat.. Not real ones, just the cheap knock offs..
  21. I find that a single Plano box holds more than enough tackle for trips like these.... Took me a while to figure that out though.. Lol.. I hope to fish Quebec next spring..
  22. When I was in northwestern Ontario we would be inundated with bugs and a few deerflies as soon as we touched shore.. then the dragonflies would show up and the bugs quickly disappeared...
  23. I just got back Sunday from the Nipigon area... We only had one fish in the 38 inch range but we fished mostly small back lakes for Walleye..
  24. Just got home from up in that area.. Too bad we couldn't get out on Nipigon due to having a small boat.. Lol
  25. the double sided skin coloured tape used to be deadly on them when you attached it to your hat..... unfortunately I haven't seen them around in years.. if you could find some and train the dog to wear a hat......
