  1. If I was a betting man I'd say we are in for a year with lots of slush and white ice.. dangerous for sure!!.. early snow and a late freeze.. my annuals are still in flower and my neighbor has vegetables to pick. The trees have their leaves and most are green to boot..
  2. Hey Dave, I recognize some of those characters!! .. maybe one day I will be off work for one of your events..lol
  3. Unless it gets really cold in November I don't see any early ice this year. The water temperatures are fairly warm still.. a harsh winter can occur because of the lake effect snow magnified by warm water..20 degrees over the next few days..
  4. I'm surprised that the snaggers aren't around.. I gave up fishing for salmon because of those guys..
  5. I have an ATV.. that's pretty much it..lol.. not worthy of a photo...I would like for find a good older snowmobile for ice fishing... Kind of like Chris Brocks...
  6. Just another day in paradise...lol
  7. Wow, you have yourself a baseball team!!.. that's one busy household..
  8. What happens in the US is always fascinating.. especially in politics.. compare a voter in California with one in Georgia and you would think you are talking about 2 different countries altogether ...
  9. I can tell you that in the last several years we have taken a big step back. 7 years ago I was making 15,000 more a year than I am now and housing prices weren't too bad.. in that time since we have taken a hit with health and safety, our pay and cola etc while housing, hydro and taxes have increased.. I remember making 3 bucks an hour bailing hay for my uncle in 1984.. in grade 11 I was paid $5 to paint at Sears and by grade 12 I was working 35 hours a week with weekends off making 6.88.. home at 9:30 pm, back to school by 8 am for 3 classes..
  10. TD home and Auto -$225 for a 400cc Suzuki
  11. There was a distracted walker on hwy 6 that was hit by a truck.. my father knew his father.. the accident in Brampton appears to be from an impaired driver(not 100% on that) and my sister-in-laws son knew them.. my condolences to you Manitou
  12. That is a good deal!!.. I have used wag jag as well with good results..
  13. To clean a Grouse just stand on the wings and pull the legs... then pull the breast out and cut off the wings...
  14. I like the bargain basement at Cabelas but other than that I usually don't buy much at either store. Sail, bills bait and fishing world have everything I need...
  15. An East coast report would be awesome!!.. we also stop in Drummondville on the way east.. a hotel desk clerk once told us to park near the front door and we always follow that kind of advice.. that and buy gas at the last Ontario station and the first new Brunswick one because the price in Quebec is too high..although the price of beer at the Costco there is right!!..
  16. I was right where I am today.. at work.. back then we had to crowd around the radio to hear what was going on (in between charging and tapping heats) along with updates from the guys in the cranes ... I didn't see any television coverage until 7:30 that night... I can only imagine the shock of someone coming out of the bush after a week and hearing the news days after it happened..
  17. Argh... agency nurses can be pretty bad.. the good ones get good jobs and some of the not so good ones take the low pay agency jobs.. either way there's no excuse for something like this!!
  18. How do you go about fastening the seat mount?.. it's an area with a lot of stress..
  19. I used to have a place on the Burnt River system above 3 brothers falls.. lots of small muskies and smallmouth below the falls.. we did quite a bit of snorkeling and you wouldn't believe how many big logs are still on the bottom of the river..
  20. Go to the local wharf and watch how the locals fish.. you should be able to get a few flounder, especially if you can find some live clams for bait..
  21. I love how many deer there are in the park... you pretty much see them every day!
  22. A bottle deposit would certainly help get rid of the waste created by the bottles..
  23. The amount paid for resources to the government is too small to begin with.. if we can get a case of 24 plastic bottles of water for less than 2 bucks after bottling and transportation is factored in, then Nestlé isn't paying enough for it. Regulations should be tightened up for all who have water permits..
  24. From petersens hunting.com...As hunters, we must recognize that widespread expressions of outrage over hunting are not random. They erupt when people perceive hunting as a form of vain, thuggish conquest: one that disrespects animals, has no serious purpose, and serves mainly to gratify hunters egos. The less concern we demonstrate for animal welfare, the less we are respected. The farther a hunting practice drifts from meaningful utilization of the animal, the more objections are raised and the more difficult it becomes to explain such hunting as demonstrative of respect for life. 25. Try Dr Jason Archibald at St Joe's.. they have an ENT clinic in the hospital.. he didn't really help me with my vertigo but it's a crap shoot dealing with stuff like that.. you should have better luck..
