  1. Pull prop, take to Citywide Propeller Repair on Drew Road in Mississauga for repair, reinstall prop, go boating. You could also put a new prop on, get this one repaired and have a spare. I have 4 props for my boat. Address: 1867 Drew Rd, Mississauga, ON L5S 1J5 Phone: (905) 612-8040

  2. So, after 28 years of beating up my boat, the options were buy a new one, or rebuild mine. New boats are ridiculously expensive, and good used ones even more, so I rebuilt mine. Its a 1993 Starcraft 16 Widebody. Nothing fancy, but it has served me very well, and is very versatile. I take this rig to backwoods speck lakes, and troll the great lakes on the right days, and also hunt it right until I can no longer break the ice, so its seen its share of conditions, been swamped twice, and sunk at the dock once Lol. I dont think i could ever part with it to be honest. Anyways, here's some pics start to finish.

  3. I would get that repaired or replaced before using it, it's going to be out of balance and that might affect the motor. Like porkpie says, there should be a shop in your area to repair it, and it's always nice to carry a spare.

  4. Remove cotterpin, spin off the prop nut. Check to see if there is any crap or fishing line wrapped around the shaft, then hit it with a very light coat of marine grease and re-install. FYI there is an outfit called Citywide welding down in toronto that can fix that up good as new. I had one done there years ago and it turned out great.

  5. For solar to be effective, you would have to tow another raft behind you covered with 150 watt panels.

  6. So, for those wondering, I REALLY LIKE this Ryker! I took it to work and back today (1.5KM shy of 200KM total round trip). I have made a few more minor changes to it too like remove the red/black wind defuser and get a small sport windshield. A world of difference on the 407! Leaving at 6:30'ish AM I think I need to get some cool/cold weather golves... My summer one's didn't keep my hands warm and even worse in the cold valley's. So for anyone thinking about one of these, I'm very happy with it and I'm already over 1200KM on it.

  8. It's a bunch of tin boats stored at the landing on the lake. Someone with a battery drill and what looks to be a 2 1/2" hole saw drilled a hole in the bottom of each one of the dozen plus boats stored there.

  9. Really sad that we have to share this world with the type of scum that would intentionally ruin someone's property for no reason.

  11. same usage here. motor out to the spot and drift or anchor. the inflatable drift pretty quick. once I was unhooking a fish and getting reset, and I easily drifted 200 feet. good thing it was a small lake with no traffic 😅. What I love about the inflatables is the stability, comfort and the ability to take them anywhere.

  12. I use my motor mostly to get out to the main spot. The real reason for the electric is to get off quicker if need be . I will row when I need to move a 100 ft or so. My float boat is very stealth as I found out. There was just a light breeze on Sunday. The water was still calm and I was drifting .4-.5 MPH . It drove me nuts, as I was not marking my bait as the line was out from the range. My motor is 30lb. Speed 1,I was getting 1.5-2 MPH. Speed 5,it was up to 5 mph. This is on glass waters. This is an older motor and I know it draws . New one out of the box is on the list. My boat loaded as in the pics I posted, still did not touch the bottom in 3" of water. I love this thing.

  13. I think the “ballpark” quote when looking for a trolling motor is 2lbs thrust for every 100lbs of boat weight. Please don't quote me on that... You wont be breaking speed records for sure.

  14. Nice Lew! If you still have those boards, a quick kijiji ad would make them disappear quick. Save yourself the work, and help someone else. Not only is it stupid expensive, but hard to get too. I miss building decks. One of my favourite things to build. S.

  15. This is the second time I've painted this boat. First time was 15 years ago, and I did a TON of prep work then, and the paint stuck really well. I just used exterior latex paint, believe it or not. I used the same stuff this time, and just sanded everything and cleaned it well before painting. Its ultra flat exterior latex from sherwin williams. They just shook their heads when I told them it was for a boat, said it would never last, but if I get 15 years out of it, I'm fine with that LOL ......Its just a fishing and hunting boat man, doesn't need to be fancy. I can get you the actual code when I'm home if you want, but I just picked it from their colour wall and went with it. S.

  16. Well, the original floor when I bought this boat in '93 was 1/2" plywood, with vinyl, I ripped that out 15 years ago and re did the floor with presure treated fence boards ( cheap rebuild that time) I used it that way for 15 years with intentions of going to aluminum plate, or checkerplate, but just never got around to it. The panels on the side are a composite plastice/wood. They were a type of siding I used many years ago, and kept a bunch around when the job was finished. They don't fade, absorb water, or rot, but they are heavy, and not very strong laterally. They worked good there though, and will last forever. S.

  21. Thanks for the replies. I do have a proper charger for the battery which is a sealed lead acid 55ah battery. Thought of experimenting with a solar panel since I have one collecting dust the garage. Misfish, I was planning together real outdoor carpet, but found someone throwing this carpet out and surprisingly it was pretty thin and lightweight. Haven't had much water coming on the deck in the past, so hoping to not have issue with it getting soaked. The motor is a Goodman&sons raft motor which is super rare. A friend of mine picked it up for like $5 a few years ago.I know it won't get me anywhere quick, but should work fine for the calm smaller lakes until I get a proper Minn Kota.

  22. You're going to have a really tough time getting any sort of charge back into that battery with a solar panel.

  24. A quick clip with for the first voyage on Lake O with the family, including new pup! (my oldest son wasn't able to join us, but he will next time!) I kept things slow and steady as the wife was a bit overwhelmed being on big water, luckily it was nice and calm! I had to speed up the footage to give the illusion of going fast! https://streamable.com/klrh8m

  26. I was going to get her mounted to match the 15" I already have mounted to make book ends but had no means of preserving the fish, would of been a waste so back she went.

  27. MY minn kota digital maximizer 40 lasts at least 2 1/2 times longer on the water, compared to my non maxinizer.

  28. This might help you decide o what it will do. To calculate how long a battery will run a motor, let’s have a look at an average setup: 30 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor – max 30 amp draw 35 amp hour (Ah) AGM battery and a 50 Ah battery as well Amps drawn Runtime with 35 Ah Runtime with 50 Ah Speed setting Max Medium Low Max Medium Low Max Medium Low 30 lb trolling motor 30 amps 15 amps 5 amps 1.2 hours 2.3 hours 6 hours 1.7 hours 3.3 hours 10 hours The table above will give you an idea of how long a 30 lb trolling motor will run with a 35 Ah and a 50 Ah battery at various speeds. Running the motor at full speed will draw 30 amps per hour, draining the battery in a little more than an hour. Running the motor at half speed will draw 15 amps per hour, meaning you will get 2:20 minutes runtime. Running the motor at the lowest speed setting will draw 5 amps per hour, so you will get 7 hours of run time. That’s not that bad!
