No meat shortage here today. Felt good to cast again. buckshot tipped with a minnow head under a float. They are still deep and staging. Caught close to 20 perch too but we don’t get those simcoe giants.4 points

I think this is the kind of scenario that Ang is referring to, and it is exactly what opening weekend of trout season will look like in many, many areas. That's the problem.3 points

I'll be 70 in a couple of weeks , diagnosed COPD about ten years ago but not having any issues now , going out to cut the lawn today , 50 by 175 lot. Wife although younger , has emphysema and shortness of breath. I call our chances of survival somewhere between slim and none. Pension keeps coming in so no need to go out except a weekly grocery shop at R.C.Superstore during seniors hour Tuesday morning, we are isolating till the coast is entirely clear regardless of the rest of the world.2 points

So jealous man we're getting close to the in between stage. Still safe ice in certain areas but it's leaving quick. So glad there's 500 lakes within a half hour drive and I bet I wouldn't see another soul on 499 of them.2 points

In order to help myself stay sane and hopefully help others as well, one of the things that we've started doing to more Facebook & Instagram chats for any of you who are on those social media platforms. In fact tonight, I will be hosting on the "EVERYTHING You Wanted to Know About FISHING but were afraid to ask..." Facebook group page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1421921441322251/ a "The Science Behind Fishing" chat with Fisheries & Oceans Canada Fisheries Biologist, Pure Fishing Ambassador & Ontario BASS Nation Conservation Director, Jason Barnucz - The Reel Angle and Ontario MNR Resource Management Technician, Rapala & HT Enterprises Inc Pro-Staff, Wil Wegman. We will discuss the recent 50th Bassmaster Classic, the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Conservation convention held there and so much more! Feel free to comment with any questions that you may have for these two! Don't miss out on what should prove to be a very entertaining and informative session, it will start at 7:30 PM tonight (Wed. April 15th)!1 point

I just got me a Helix 5 Chirp DI GPS unit (won it) and I cannot wait to use it to replace my old 525. I have already had to contact the warranty dept. with a concern I had and they shipped me a new part no questions asked. I have tinkered with it from time to time as I set it up as a portable unit and it looks easy to use. But if I was to go spend a LOT on a new unit I think I would like to go touch screen. So much faster to mark spots vs looking for a button.1 point

A good fishing partner is someone who knows how to get the boat ready at the launch. Ropes, bumpers , plugs . Can back up truck and trailer if needed. Funny, good conversation. Knows how to work a fish finders . Has good fishing knowledge . With all this being said, looks like I will be fishing by myself.1 point

Alberta is starting up bc is preparing to start up i think it is too early , but I’m betting in a week or two. We will start up. Maybe local businesses that employ local people in areas with little or no out breaks with testing and some distancing. It will happen1 point

Some guys are retired CEO's like my newest B-I-L. He sold his twin engine air plane, took up fishing and went out and bought himself a 52' offshore something or other. I have yet to see it, or be invited out on it. My wife has been invited out in it. She didn't even take a pic, she said it was cute, CUTE !!!!!!!???????1 point

I went barefoot a few times fishing and like I said have the scars to prove it. Nothing like ruining a week at the fishing camp when someone needs to drive you to Pembroke a 90 minute 1 way trip away to get stiches in the hoof and not being able to put weight on it for another week to F up the Walleye opener. Padded front casting decks, come on man! City boys strapping 300 HP 4 strokes on 3 @ 4X8 sheets of plywood stacking them end to end. That's funny you said that about being R.C. When I was a kid and an Altor Boy, (no all the rumours are not all true) I thought when they said "thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife" I pictured someone covering the next door neighbours wife in a nice blanket.1 point

Parkay flooring? thats at least what I know it as. My first house had it. 48 hours? You’ve got this!1 point

Nice coffeeffee table Dutch. Please don't play ice fishing and drill a hole in that gorgeous floor. I'm trying to remember what those hardwood floors were called when they were in every apartment high rise built in the early 70's. Then in the 1990's they were all being ripped out. Now you can't afford to replace them. Please what were they called? Herring bone? Yes herring bone me thinks, thank you all. Sometimes you guys are of no help whatsoever. Here I go reaching for a cigarette. 48 hrs no smoke and counting.1 point

I didn't get the bottom of the boat wet last year. Hopefully with all the therapy I've taken my back will hold up for a few trips out here on Erie and up north this year. Even number years are always my best years. So here are a few pics of my bigger Pics from 18'. That's me in the green shirt, 35 lbs lighter than a few years before and a few years younger than today. The ugly guy is our former Mayor of Hooterville On. Every time it was time to take his boat out he had a town council meeting to prepare for!!!! Cheap ^&*$%. . Wow I actually posted photos. A monster has been created.1 point

Ontario numbers are spiking because they are doing 3 or 4 times more testing so we are starting to get a more accurate count. Hopefully it will level out in a few more days1 point

^^^ This Shoppers sells 4 liter jugs for (I think) $1.49 if you buy 3 or more. So for $5 you can fill you batteries all summer and take a bath in the rest. lol1 point

One of my tournament partners does this, but worse he always talks on speakerphone so that he can continue fishing. I used to listen to him talk to his girlfriend for an hour at a time about drama with her friends, listen to her complain about work etc etc on speakerphone in the middle of tournaments. Luckily they broke up lol, but not sure if it’d be much of the same with his new GF lol1 point

Well my daughter gave a a turkey carcass from the weekend as she can't be bothered to make stock and soup. She has it figured out now, get Dad to do it all and then get soup for nothing. But that's OK, I ended up with 4 qts of soup. So that was a perfect excuse to break in my new dutch oven to bake some artisan bread. Talk about easy. No proofing of yeast, just a 2 minute mix of the ingredients including using hot water. Only a 3-5 hour rise to double in size, a quick fold over and shaping by hand and on a sheet of parchment paper and place in bowl while oven and pot is warming to 450°. Remove dutch oven, place paper and dough in pot with lid on and in oven for 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake further for 10-15 min to crisp up crust. Turned out fantastic, nice crispy crust and nice and soft inside with a texture similar to Sourdough. All for less than 5 minutes of time. . I can see it now being a regular occurrence in out kitchen.1 point

Nice David! hopefully the chats went well The guy with the muskie, I'm guessing the boat he's in is named the Kingfisher? If it is, I bet he's in Port Severn? lol1 point

Well I have been very fortunate to have had (and still do have) many wonderful fishing partners but the best one was my brother in law Herb. Herb was a lousy fisherman, not very good on the net, but he let me sleep with his sister 😁1 point

It's too bad the sandbox got messy cuz it was nice (for me anyways) to see the mix of topics on the same page. I totally understand that the time had come for these measures, and I hope this will smooth things out. Mod life is a thankless job, been there, done that. still have the t1 point

We found out that we lost my wife's aunt to the virus yesterday. She was in a home, late 80's in age. It was touch and go last weekend, she spiked a fever, than on Monday, she felt good and was eating ice cream. Her fever spiked again on Tuesday and by Thursday, she was gone. This thing is decimating our older population. We need to stay the course to save who we can. HH0 points
