Great Week on Nip/Upper French

Recommended Posts

Another great week at Sandy Haven Camp on Nip/Upper French.  Been going there for over 35 years and its about as good as it's ever been.   Three generations of Dietz boys hit the Nipissing grand slam.  Boated two muskies, had hooks in two more and numerous follows.   The walleye bite was hot with 40-50 fish days and limits of keepers.   Bass fishing, smallies and largemouth, was real good too.   That place is on fire!

You guys did great,  great looking fish. I fished West arm with my son last weekend in july and did great. Love Nipissing,  endless opportunities to fish and never disappoints. 👍

A few weeks back me and two good friends did a trip 5 years in the making.   We have himmed and hawwed  made excuses over the years this that and the other but we finally made it to Nipigon. Its an intimidating lake, no known charts, shoals that literaly jump out of 200 fow , not many campsites marked, water is cold as sin and a few hundred km from anywhere.  But over the years seeing a few reports here and there of the monsters that lurk we couldn't resist the urge any longer.    We l

    • Great day at Rice Lake

Hey everyone  We had a great day at Rice lake,  walleye cooperated from the first light, and I was happy to see my buddy getting his first Rice lake walleyes. Wind was there from early morning,  but it only did good for the eyes as they love a little chop. By 11 am we had the limit.  Cheers! Gino

    • Should I consider the french river?

Hello there, just got back last week from my yearly Canadian trip with my father. We have been going to a location that has good smallmouth fishing but mediocre walleye fishing unless you are able to get into back lakes which we are not able to with my setup. I have an old 17 foot aluminum boat with a 9.9 that goes 15 mph with two people and our gear. It has been remodeled and is a much nicer than what you can rent most places so I bring my own boat. Where we currently go we end up moving around

    • Great Finds (NF)

Last year when I went South the place I rented didn't have a BBQ. I ended up at Wall-mart and found a little portable charcoal one for $14.99 US, bought a bag of briquets and proceeded to cook all sorts of things on it. It's not very big, perhaps 14" in diameter but it was perfect for two people and I have even managed to cook 4 decent size steaks on it at the same time. I liked it so much that when I got back home I bought two more of them ($19.99 at Wall-mart here), one for here at the house a
