  1. Very nice Chris! I agree, catching fish is a bonus to the day, and I would be happy to tie into a Sheepshead! ( never caught one!)
  2. #3 and #4 would be on my list as well Paul!
  3. Good thoughts Dan! That is really what I was thinking. The positive and pleasant experience is more important than the actual fish count!
  4. 10 &6 years old! Lol ok for me to walk out, but not them! Do you know if all hut operators still have to have their huts off by the 15th?
  5. I was thinking of trying to get Grandkids out on Simcoe during March break (14 to18th) with a rental hut but then it dawned on me……..are all the huts off by the 15th?
  6. Video glitch? ……..I have no idea what you talk about!
  7. I spend the money I used to spend on razors, on tackle!🤪
  8. I wanted one to eat, but I was hoping for something younger and maybe a third that size.
  9. Beans, give me credit…….after 17 months…….I did go for a haircut a couple of weeks ago! Lol
  10. It was like trying to bring in a cinder block that kept circling the boat! The thing pulled like a freight train and just would not come up!
  11. Sounds weird Terry, but you and your Wife were in my dreams the night before! Lol
  12. Had a great day on the water yesterday! Got into some Bass and real nice Crappie early on……..and then finally Mr. Whiskers came out to play! I had a blast with this ol’ boy on light spinning tackle! Drop shot rig and Gulp minnow gets it done! IMG_1396.MOV
  13. The Anchor lock or Spot lock is a useful feature though!
  14. Doug, my first bow mount trolling motor in the 80's was a Minn Kota. The thing was a Power Drive and it was plagued with foot pedal issues, but otherwise worked great. I thin switched boats and got a Minn Kota Maxxum 65 with cable steer foot pedal. That thing was bullet proof and would plow through any weed bed with ease. It was only 12 volt but had the Maximizer technology and was easy on the battery. When I bought my new 16.5 foot tiller with 40 HP Yamaha in 2017, my Wife convinced me to go with new technology and get the Motorguide Xi5 55# with 54" shaft & with remote control, wireless foot pedal, Anchor lock, and I can even control the thing from my graphs! So far, it is no match for the weeds like the Minn Kota was and I am on my third remote! The things just quit after a year or so. If I had to do it over, I would go back to cable steer and forego all this technology! I find the motor does the job fine on 12 volts though.
  15. Ha ha ha! good one! My new F-250 does not have this! I didn't want it. My Wife was disappointed, but I said the last two trucks had it and I never considered using it! No way I am backing up using a little dial!
  16. My last boat was a built in tank and this one is a portable. I would take the portable any day of the week! I have a 16.5 foot Alumacraft with a 40 hp 4 stroke Yamaha. The thing sips gas!
  17. TJ, I think we all need to sit in a chair and stare at a river! LOL
  18. I don’t think he is done with the Garmin set up……….yet! Lol
  19. Oh I hear you! A part of me embraces all this technology, but there is another part that yearns for a simpler time. I am easily frustrated by this stuff, but the inquisitive side of me wants to learn more! It is a viscous battle! Lol
  20. That is exactly it Paul! I already had the network in there, so it is just adding in the tee they give you. The Lowrance units found it automatically, but the device list only had it as a number. My Buddy gave me his Lowrance units as a huge upgrade to what I had when he switched to Garmin live Scope!
  21. Apparently, the larger engines may have more sensors that give more data? I don’t see engine temperature or oil/water pressure that would be nice! This is the same plug that a dealer would plug their laptop into for diagnosis I believe?
  22. Ok, so I started looking into this data cable for my 2017 40hp Yamaha a couple of years ago. My Lowrance HDS9 graphs have the capability to display the info on my screens through the NMEA 2000 network that connects my two graphs and reads the gps and transducers I really could not find any info specifically pertaining to my motor online. When I bought the cable two years ago, it says 50 hp and up! I finally spoke to a fellow at the boat show two years ago from Yamaha, that really seemed to know what he was talking about. He said it should still work and agreed that if I had the plug under the cowl, it “should” read the data available. Well, finally, after being my overly cautious self (understatement of the year! Lol), I installed it! I am delighted that it gives me RPM’s, hours on engine, rate of fuel being consumed, and probably lots more! Hours was my main objective! I installed a little stand alone battery operated gauge a while back when it was new, but the thing eats batteries! My fishing partner claims it will just be another distraction to keep me from fishing! Lol
  23. bigcreekdad, is your 60 hp Yanaha motor a 1998 as well? If so, that is where I would have wanted the update more than the boat.
  24. Always a good idea to pick up a few new cotter pins and replace them each time you pull one out.
