Joeytier Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 I've got an opportunity to score a great deal on a brand new non-current (2013) 9.9 Suzuki manual start. Having trouble finding much info on these newer motors. I understand Suzuki's to be a fairly reputable name in the world if outboards, at least with their older 2 strokes, but these 4 strokes I don't know much about. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
Cosmos Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Very reliable motor, friend of mine is using one for last couple years. Very happy with it.
lew Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Never owned one myself but anybody that has one is very happy with it.
John Bacon Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Suzuki made the Johnson four strokes. They are a good motor. The only downside is that there are not as many dealers as Mercury or Yamaha.
Joeytier Posted March 6, 2015 Author Report Posted March 6, 2015 I have a dealer about an hour south of me in Bonfield, which is where the motor is being sold from. Sounds like my decision is all but made. The motor is priced at $2000 for brand new non-current 9.9, which is good considering that I'm seeing 2-4 year old Merc 8 and 9.9's going for upwards of $2500!
2 tone z71 Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 As much as I love the yammy outboards ..if I could have last summer I'd a bought the suzi..great motors ..sweet find ..good deal ..congrats
vance Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 That must be from Sampson's,I have been there a few times and they seem like a good dealer. The locals in the area have nothing but good things to say about him. vance
spincast Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) you wont go wrong with one. Great motors with rave reviews from the trade mags. I have a 20 for a kicker - love it. Edited March 6, 2015 by spincast
Roe Bag Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Very reliable motor. I've owned two Suzies. 1995 15 hp two stroke oil injected. 2001 15 hp four stroke. Both were absolutely flawless. No issues whatsoever.
chris.brock Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Before I bought my used pontoon, I was looking at a new one with a 40hp Suzuki 4 stroke. I researched it and liked what I was hearing. I would buy a Suzuki. I didn't buy it because I cheaped out and went for a used boat.
Big Cliff Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Well, don't know if this will help but I had a 1980 55hp oil injected. Sold it about 5 years ago now when I bought my new boat and motor and it was still running like a top!
mikdor Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I bought a non current 2008, 25 hp Suzuki In 2009 and got a 5 yr. warranty and I have never had an issue, runs like charm and easy on fuel. So if I were You I wouldn't hesitate. Mike
icefisherman Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I've been using 115 HP 2 stroke Suzuki for several years on my Lund. Great motor...never a single issue with it. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
bow slayer Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I have a 70 hp 4 stroke Johnson(actually a suzuki) best motor I have ever owned,5 seasons with it ,it has been perfect.....if you do research you will find that there are very popular down in Austraila and the south pacific area.
wormdunker Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 My bud has a 40 hp, 4 stroke Suzy. Purrs like a singer sewing machine! Very easy on fuel. It is also very quiet. He has ran it 6 years now & never an issue. Jump on it!
musky666 Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I am hoping for good stuff from the Suzuki I just pulled the trigger on- if its as good ( or better) than my Yamaha I will be very happy!
Lunatic Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 when i bought my yamaha,i was looking at suzuki as well. ive heard nothing but good things about them but there are only 2 or 3 dealers in ontario i think. so if something happens while on a trip you could be SOL. which is the reason i bought the yammy
musky666 Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Thats about the only knock on 'em that I could find as well- was able to move up 25 hp for same money over the yamaha so seemed worthwhile. Small dealer near where I fish in North Bay, so hoping he can help if needed.
fishindevil Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Great deal grab it !!!! Before someone else does !!! A few freinds of mine have them and same feedback !!!! Flawless no issues at all !!!! Show us some pics of the new motor !!!! :-))
