  1. I don't know much about it,I've always been in a zone that don't allow pike fishing until mid May. Anyone know if or when nippissing usually has ice out? If that zone don't allow it then disregard nipp.ill go further up to a zone if needed. Thx
  2. this weekend i decided to go up somewhere in the haliburton area and try to fish some back lakes from shore, but would hate to be fishing a trout lake. im just looking for bass, pike, muskie lakes. can anyone point me in the right direction? some lakes i could try that have a decent shoreline thanks.
  3. ya its not looking good. guess it will be a game time decision. i wish i could get out on week days.
  4. just curious where everyone is fishing this sunday. i havent been out once this year, was supposed to last weekend but all the thunderstorms we were supposed to have cancelled it,and as most of us know it was all sunny and warm,to my dismay. its hard to get out at all, life keeps getting in the way, sunday is supposed to rain and im concerned about the wind and cold front, mostly the wind. im gonna do my best to avoid it. original plan was to go to the parry sound area, but if weather is gonna be better elsewhere ill go there lol
  5. ex gf had a cottage on that lake. we were on it all the time for years before they had to sell. caught lm bass and pike, panfish. small lake, really not much going on there. but last time i was on it was 14 yrs ago ,give or take.
  6. i remember my parents driving us up there after it happened. i was 8 yrs old and i remember climbing hills of rubble that used to be homes.
  7. thats the one. im gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this isnt a free launch? lol have any of you fished here? i might go in about 2 weeks if i can get my boat ready in time, but im told its shallow and rocky.
  8. anyone here familiar with deep bay? boat launches etc. you can inbox me any details, thanks.
  9. i live in stoney creek and i either drive to grimsby tackle or bills, both more than twice the distance from me.this shows good customer service goes a long way. if your looking at fish finders go to grimsby tackle, they will spend half a day with you to show you the ins and outs,he loves to play with them.
  10. this thread makes me laugh. i guess fishingworld has changed its tune over the past 2 years or so. they are notorious for poor service. i used to work behind them and anyone at my work that fished would drive all the way up the mountain to bills because fishingworld trated people like they were tresspassing. i also remember another thread on here about fishingworld and not many were happy about them.
  11. when i bought my yamaha,i was looking at suzuki as well. ive heard nothing but good things about them but there are only 2 or 3 dealers in ontario i think. so if something happens while on a trip you could be SOL. which is the reason i bought the yammy
  12. wow.insane to have it so early. damn,oh well. thanks.
  13. i go to it pretty much every year, but i was told it was 2 weeks ago, what the hell? isnt it usually in march??
  14. it blows my mind anyone would buy fishing gear at CT. grossly over priced.they have the odd sale but only stock a few of the items. i like bps.
  15. i find myself more of a rod snob than a reel snob, but you guys arent the first to tell me to spend more on the reel. ive also heard that the shimano cardiff is a good option, but no one mentioned that here . it might sound silly but im turned off by abu garcia. my first ever baitcast set up was the black maxx combo and that only lasted 2 hours before the rod broke 4 inches from the tip,and the 3rd time out the drag broke.ive replaced both with shimano set up and doing good 2 years in.i had a friend give me his black maxx reel because his rod broke. i wont rule out abu but im ho-hum on it. my bass and pike set ups are mostly shimano and st.croix. 13 fishing rods have me interested, but i dont think too many here have used them so im hestitant on straying from shimano and st croix. ill improve my set ups over time, little by little so the wife doesnt notice. if i drop 400+ on a reel or rod,i might be burried with them lol
  16. thanks for the opinions. im looking more to have an all in one rod to start. i dont know how much musky fishing ill do this year.i still like going for pike and bass often. ill need something heavy to throw bulldawgs also im right handed and use my left to reel.i have a right handed baitcaster i tried to get into it but couldnt. im right handed and i use my left foot to push on a skateboard (when i was a kid) i shoot right handed stick in hockey, and catch with my right hand as a goalie, but in baseball i catch with my left and throw with my right.......my point is ,im just not right, haha
  17. I dont ice fish so i try to stay away from anything fishing related during the winter (out of sight, out of mind) but the itch is growing... in the fall last year,i started to fish for musky using undersized gear i use for pike so its time to get the proper setup. so i thought id research a bit and maybe pick up something when bass pro has their spring classic. what gear is everyone using here for musky? i wont be going too crazy,so my budget will probably be in the 160/160 range rod/reel anyone use 13 fishing rods?
  18. i have friends who laugh and call me paranoid. i always take my gear out of the boat with me even if its only for 30min while i eat. it sucks lugging everything 3 times a day up and down to the boat but i still have it all. living in hamilton makes anyone paranoid about thieves! but a boat seat........thats interesting.
  19. awesome. aside from that one how long were you there and how many did you catch? im always down for trying new lakes
  20. the question i have is this....I bought my rods and gear with a lifetime warranty,so having bought my rods with this offer shouldnt they still have to honor it? grandfather rule?
  21. damn.ive never had to use their warranties but knowing my luck ill break all my shimano gear somehow. it does make me reconsider when buying new rods tho,and might go to st.croix.
  22. Thanks for the tips, ive seen enough rocks already this year!
