Steam or boil in salted water until almost cooked through. Add to fry pan and fry in butter and garlic. HH

I had Rogers to the house to do a service call and I talked to the tech about this "new" service. He was a 20 year Rogers tech, not a sub-contractor and he told me that neither he or any of the techs he knew, had the slightest idea on how to setup this system properly and make it work. He also said that at the time, Rogers was struggling to get customers signed up for the service and that he expected to be put on some kind of training soon, as customers sign up for the service. I have an analog solution to this digital service... he's 90lbs and has a mouth full of teeth! LOL HH

Yah, I still don't know where mine is! LOL HH

Hi John, As I understand it, you do not need a permit to replace a driveway, just for a new one. Also, here in Scarborough, your driveway's width must not exceed the width of you garage. As far as recommending someone, well, I was more than displeased with the folks who did mine, so I won't recommend them to you. HH

I have one, couldn't tell you where it is right this moment! Even if I did know where it is, it would probably take me a few minutes to figure out how to turn the dang thing on! Enjoy life without that menace! HH

The saddest part for Torontonians is that there is really no alternative on the right. And given the city's past experience with left wingers, I wouldn't be overly surprised if he won again. HH

A very old drinkin game we played years ago... The Bob Newhart Show... you had to drink, every time someone on the show said "Bob"! Also, "Barley Trek". Write down the names of all the characters in a particular Star Trek Episode, put them in a hat and have everyone involved, draw a name. Kirk was the challenging one. A drink for each time someone on the show said "Captain". Two drinks for "Captain Kirk" and finish your bottle if you heard "Captain James T Kirk"! A word to the wise, don't use the episode where there are two Captain Kirks!!!!! HH PS... re Italo. I met him at a Quinte Fishing Series tournament and he was a complete gentleman and had time for everyone. I may not like his TV style, but I can't say a bad thing about the man himself.

Good that the wood was purchased legally... I was simply trying to make folks aware that they may run into trouble crossing into the US or into Canada, with "exotic" wood. The border dudes are trying their best, but they are not experts in wood and could in all probability, cause you grief. Confiscation comes to mind. Sorry for the derail Chris, I think your work is 2nd to none! HH
-
Nice job as usual Chris... can't help but think I would ruin that fancy wood in short time, trying to stick a hook in there! LOL I know you use well sourced woods Chris, but I don't know if you or others are aware of CITES. There has been an international push to protect difficult to source wood species and as a result, you could find yourself in trouble should a well meaning border agent spot what they "believe" to be "exotic" wood. They can and will be confiscated... Here's some info that is oriented more toward guitars/musical instruments, but I think you will see that it could be relevant for fishing equipment as well. Not trying to scare anyone, just trying to make aware. www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/manuals/ports/downloads.pdf HH

Tracker Tundra - Legal Advice is Appreciated
Headhunter replied to young_one's topic in General Discussion
If the boat sank to the bottom, they may be able to retrieve it, but as Steve said earlier in the thread, unlikely. How deep were you when it went down Will? Also, they don't always sink to the bottom, sometimes they have enough buoyancy to suspend somewhere in the water colum. If that's the case, the current in Adolphus could well have it somewhere in Lake O by now! Just really glad that your here to have this conversation Will! HH -
Being the dinosaur that I am, it's my humble opinion that each and every license issued should be mailed out with a copy of the provincial regs in the envelope. That would eliminate any "excuses" that one could come up with and provide proscuters with the leverage they may need should court be required. If things keep going the way they are, the MNR is going to go the way of Rogers and others, charging us for our own bills! HH
-
Now I definately see the merits in your post and couldn't agree with you more... that said, I guess that logic doesn't come into play when it comes to trout and their yearly trek up the ditches. HH

Ha ha... Georgian Bay Fishing Camp is also where I spent a week. That was almost 13 years ago! BTW - they still have the same boats and motors! Cliff, my wife and I were fishing a bay one evening. She at the front, me at the back with the fish finder. The ff is reading 15ft and suddenly were are dead stopped. There was a rock submurged only 6 inches below the surface at the bow and 15 ft of water at the stern. And no, you can't see them in the water due to water colour! I had to get out of the boat, stand on the rock, in the middle of a big bay, and push the boat off the rock... and that rock has dozens of relatives hiding beneath the waves! HH

Pretty dangerous waters as Terry said. Not only is it extremely rocky, but it is also pretty secluded and can become a very difficult place to get to and away from based on wind and fog. The yacht folks use them as a stop over while running the North Shore. From what I gathered when I had a cottage nearby-ish, smally fishing can be outstanding as well as pike, but there is a lot of areas to fish, to find 'em. Lauching is usually out of either Key River, if the water is high enough or Byng Inlet. Just be sure to follow the marker buoys or you'll find yourself knee deep, or deeper, in trouble. HH

Interviews are like horse races... sometimes there is a clear winner and sometimes there is a photo finish. Sometimes you just have to be just that little bit stronger than your competition, to win. HH
-
Watch out for open ended questions. "Tell me about yourself". That's an open ended question and one that gets asked alot. There is really only one correct answer to that question and your response will tell the interviewer a great deal about the way you think. The correct answer to that question should always be, "What aspects of myself would you like me to discuss". Interviews are NOT about tossing hand grenades or atomic bombs at questions, they are about sharp shooters finding and aiming for a specific target. If you start to answer the question, without getting them to narrow down the question, you will be ssen as a person who jumps to conclusions (and tosses hand grenades!). If you jump to conclusions in an interview, you will do it in the job. "Tell me about your experience fishing and your knowledge of fishing equipment". Response - "I have been fishing for X number of years and have experience fishing multi-species. Is there a specific area of my fishing experience you would like me to discuss?" The employer now knows that they can go to you anytime and you will give them what they want/need, without "stick handling" around the issue. Again, if you do this in the interview, you can be expected to do it during your working life. Also, remember that during the interview, the person doing the hiring is putting you into the role, in their mind's eye the entire time of the interview. How you say what you say is almost as important as what you say. One last thing... people tend to get nervous during interviews. A little nerves are good, as they tend to get the blood flowing, a lot and your brain goes dead. Smiling is huge! A smile says that you understand and agree, without saying anything. Any other questions, let me know... HH

Similar Cliff, except the Long Gun was Federal. Our fabulous Ontario Gov has been dealing with E-Health since Smitherman was Minister of Health. Over a billion into it, they decided that perhaps the path they chose wasn't the correct one to take and a "re-write" was in order. I don't know what the current price tag is at, but I bet we are close to another billion with no tangible results. Couple that with the gas plant fiasco and there's close to three billion evaporated. As I have said before, we don't seem to have a "money shortage" to fund projects; we seem to have a spending problem. Wait until we start to see the 40% increase in natural gas costs as well as the 50% hydro costs we will be absorbing... the whole time we are selling hydro at a loss or worse yet, being charged by other jurisdictions just to take away our access. Yes, it's time for drastic change... HH

^This... now I have no love lost for this government, but as I understand it, the dude was in place at E-Health well before Wynne became Preimer. He was just re-confirmed recently. That said, I have to wonder what the current state of "E-Health" is and futhermore, how much more $$$$ we have poured into it, with still nothing to show. I guess the first billion spent was a test to see how much more they can actually spend. HH

27lbs of illegal sturgeon eggs !! Busted!!!
Headhunter replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
Exactly... I bet their the market for illegal Sturgeon eggs hads diminished as of late. That's not to say it doesn't still exist, but I bet the rumour mill amongst that crowd has them second guessing their activities. That said, I'm also pretty sure that it won't take long before there are two more who will take their place. I have to wonder though, if those folks who have "the right" to catch what they want, when they want it, have any internal discipline, that could inhibit those takers, from selling to the non-entitled? Scouted a new Creek. A tease til opener.
Headhunter replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
That creek should hold some decent bait Brian! I can't imagine fighting all that bush for an opportuntity to hook into bait! But that's just me! HH -
The long and winding road to Leaf respectability has bodies littered all over its sides... I remain skeptical that this will change with this announcement. HH
