Huge small mouth caught in northern Ontario

It looks like it is "pining for the water". HH -
My brother knows a biologist that works Lake Erie. They have had 5 explosive year classes in a row. Each year doubling the previous years output. Surveys suggest that there are 88 million pickereyes in Lake Erie. There will be pickereyes for many years to come! HH

My brother and a couple of friends got out this past Thursday. Yes, they got their 18 pickereyes in less than two hours, but this fish was the highlight of their trip. Caught on a dipsey, 90ft out and a trolling spoon. It ripped 100ft of line in the first run and took them 20 minutes to finally get in the net. They knew it probably wasn't a pickereye, maybe a sheepy, but no one in the boat considered this! HH PS... My brother is 6ft 2in PSS... I forgot to mention that the spoon used is called a greasy chicken wing! LMAO!

I got out on Tuesday out of Port Glasgow for a few hours... well it would have been longer but we were limited out in just over two hours. If you can't catch fish on Lake Erie, it might be a good idea to find another hobby! Some details: -find 58 ft of water (about 5 miles) -you want your baits tracking in the 25-30ft range. We did well with 5 colours of lead core running Ripplin Redfins and spoons off of Dipsey's at 100ft. I hadn't been to Glascow since the 80's and wow, what a set up they have there now! Four good launches ($25), clean bathrooms, fish cleaning station, restaurant ($$$) and marina. HH

Power here in Scarberia went out at about 6:30pm yesterday. I ended up listening to the Leaf game in my truck, in the driveway!! Came back on around 5:30 am. Stupid Leafs! HH -

I had to make a claim a couple of years ago when a tree fell into my pool during a rather violent thunderstorm. My insurance hooked me up with a Project Manager who does nothing but work between the insurance company and the customer. We got to talking about insurance companies and the one thing that has stuck with me was his disgust with Belair. The will do anything to not pay out. Deny, deny deny! Food for thought! HH

We have two vehicles, one get snows, the other doesn't. As such, one vehicle gets used when the roads are not cleared, the other sits in the driveway. Since I work from home, I get the one that doesn't have snows and won't go out unless the road conditions allow. Living in the city, I usually don't have to wait long for the roads to be cleared. I simply couldn't justify the huge cost, somewhere around $1500-$2k for rims and tires. So far, so good. HH

Wild TV has all kinds of fishing shows as does "Water". HH

Common occurrence here at the house in Scarborough. Not unusual to find Dove parts on my front lawn. Pretty cool to watch when they zoom in and start the case. HH

Back in the 90's, a co-worker of mine had a place on Dummer. He invited a group of us up for a weekend... none of them were fishermen except me. I brought up enough rods for all, got them set up with jigs and minnows, I casted cranks. Caught three pickereyes on the first pass along the shoreline weed bank. Good size as well. We didn't fish again that weekend as we were considerably over served, in no condition to drive a boat. Back then at least, I don't think anyone on the lake fished! If that has remained constant, I would say that you will do well on that lake. Look for the weed lines in 15-20ft of water. HH

How did it taste? HH

Dropped a brand new fillet knife over board to see how well it floated. Well, it was advertised that it would float, but I guess not while still in the sheath. Dropped like a rock. HH
