  1. What were you using as bait? How deep were you fishing. Those silly perch can be a pain to find, but trying 10-15ft of water, then moving deeper if they are not there is a good starting point. Jiggin Raps tipped with power grubs always work on those little brats! HH
  2. Just me and the dog Bernie. I would stoke the fireplace, run over to where my wife and kids were nearby, grab a hot meal and get back home before the Kardasian, I mean fireplace ate all the wood. It was the only way to keep the house from freezing up. The pup sure was confused for the first day or two! And thanks again as well Cliff! Much appreciated buddy! HH
  3. This team is two to three years away from knowing what and who they are, given the young players they currently have on their roster. They will not win the cup this year or next, so IMHO, I would trade Dion now while his value is high. I have absolutely no proof of my feelings, but I can't get over the feeling that he's not really liked by his teamates. I know, no proof, but a gut feeling. Get a front line centre for Dion now and let the kids learn by fire. HH
  4. After 90+ hours of no power, our hydro finally came back on on Boxing Day at 6:30pm. It left us at 10:00pm on Dec 21st. The first night was fairly eventless, with most of the household already asleep, when the outage hit. A run to the grocery store for essentials and we as a family spent Sunday night together. As Monday rolled in, I could tell that my wife and kids had had enough and they took up an offer from a friend that still had power. That's when my solitary confinement began. I had limited fire wood here at home, to keep my fireplace going and keep my home from freezing up. With the generosity of neighbours, I had enough wood for a couple of days. I had heard that Oshawa had also been hit, so I called FishnSled the make sure he and his family were ok... They had power so no worrys there. He asked my how I was doing, well, I wasn't doing great, sleeping on the floor in front of the fire place, the fire place that eats wood like a Kardasian eats men! FnS said he had some wood in the back yard and after he and CCMT took the time to split it, he delivered it to my house! That wood saved my bacon and allowed me to stay in my house until the power finally came back on, on Boxing Day at 6:30pm. I just wanted to again thank FishnSled for being the kind of friend that really exemplifies what a friend really is! Thanks again Bud! HH PS... yes, having experience ice fishing certainly held me in good stead during this outage. I was actually quite shocked at how little my neighbours knew about cold weather survial and how to protect your house. And having the gear to survive was certainly an asset.
  5. I'd like to ride the storm out with Jaclyn of the weather network! HH
  6. This by the way was a poorly executed attempt at some humour... I was hoping that anyone who watched the HBO special, would have caught on... my bad! HH
  7. Well, if this type of play keeps happening, I think Randy may be "toast" by the new year! He must feel like he is "stuck in an oven" feeling the heat! HH
  8. Ha HA Ha Ha.... that's just perfect! Thanks for that! As for last evening's game. It's a three period game and the Leafs forgot about the first one! HH
  9. Yah, but how was the fishing? HH
  10. I enjoyed the show for what it was... but what I did take away from watching it, was what seems to me anyway and a very unhappy Dion. Would it kill'em to smile...once! He's living his dream job, with a dream wife and I can't help but think that he looks simply miserable. My take anyway. HH
  11. I was watching the weather on TV last night and noticed the temps in your neck of the woods. I kinda shivered a bit, then thought of you and kinda snickered a bit and thought, he better get that auger extention handy! HH
  12. Did it online last Thursday and the new card arrived yesterday (Thursday) HH
  13. We are talking about the Leafs here... since when have they done the right thing when it comes to coaches and the lineup, in the last 48 years! Logic has no place at the ACC! Key people out of the line up should not mean that those still playing should give up. It means that those still in the lineup have to step up and play better. That's not happening. Who in the organization has to take responsibility for the preparedness of the team? How long does this team test the patience of ownership? How long before those out of the line up are back in and will the team still have a chance of making the playoffs? I wouldn't be surprised if Randy is feeling a little tightness around the collar. HH
  14. So, how much longer and how many more losses before management decides to start making significant changes. It's the old story, you can't fire the whole team.... So, bare with me for a moment... Randy was not Nonis's pick for coach, he was Burke's. Burke was let go for not meeting the corporate profile that Rogers/Bell were looking for. I would lump Randy into Burke's camp, before I would place him in the "good corporate citizen" group. So, I have to wonder/ponder Randy's longevity with this team. Have the players begun to shut Randy out? Are there enough of them who turn a deaf ear to his style. They sure as heck have enough money to pay him and another new coach... Just some ponderings on a cold December day! Your thoughts? HH
  15. As with all things with kids, the less you make a big deal out of it, the easier it is on everyone. HH
  16. X100 I thought they played a great entertaining game, it was a plesant surprise. If Kuleman had some hands and a couple of other guys had some finish last night, I think they would have put a real scare into L.A.. Keep skating like they did last night and things will begin to turn around. HH
  17. Funny, but no one has mentioned the fact that in the last three years, CP has spent over a BILLION dollars "upgrading" their equipment at the main sorting stations. Here's real leadership for yah! Your volume of business has been in a steady decline and is expected to continue to do so in the foreseable future. Heck, this must be the perfect time to outspend our revenues both current and preceived. Flippin brilliant I say! Who ever made that decision, should run for a high level political office! RE job losses. Actually, the real number of jobs lost will be less than the numbers being put out as CP has an aging work force and many will be retiring before all the changes come into effect. Who's gonna pay those pensions is an entire topic on it's own. So, combine this news with the news today that Metrolinx wants everyone in the GTA to pay $.05/litre for their gas, with the money going to improve transit in the area and we have yet another grab into our pockets. I'm pretty sure that the $.05/litre is a bait and switch and that they would be resonably happy at $.02/litre, but given that organizations willingness to spent our way out of commuting hell, I can't help but think we are going to watch yet another billion dollars get wasted. Don't get me started on the gas plant fiasco! I think that the good folks in the Oakville area, should be the ones footing the bill for the cancelled gas plants. There, RANT over!LOL HH
  18. LOL Terry! I know a buddy of mine sent his suit back to Mustang to have it re-packed. I believe it was less than half the price of a new suit, but that was some time ago. HH
  19. Back in my college days, I worked for a Pharma Plus Drug store, delivering prescriptions in London. If I wasn't a good winter driver after that job, I wasn't every going to be! (Drove the snot out of that little Chevette!) As I watched the video, a thought kept creeping into my head... man is that ever going to be an insurance nightmare, for them and eventually all of us! HH
  20. Make sure that the foam hasn't moved by going over the entire thing, ensuring there is foam where it is supposed to be. If there is an "extra thick" part anywhere, likely one of the foam pieces moved. I've heard that the foam may lose some of it's bouyancy characteristics over time, but I can't say for sure. HH
  21. Bill, could see that potentially being the case, but I just don't get the same "vibe" against Chara, as I do with Dion. Being ranked as the most over rated player by his peers seems to be more likely, but I can't help but feel that there is more to this then I am hearing. At any rate, Dion gets what is probabaly a well deserved rest. I can't help but feel that tonights game is going to be ugly, for Leaf fans. HH
  22. Assuming that the suit is properly stored before purchase, than I would think nothing to worry about. Be sure to ensure that all the floation in the suit, is in the right place. After time, the floatation in the suit will move, making it far less than ideal. HH
  23. Why does it seem that every team that plays the Leafs, have a hate on for Dion? I have noticed that during scrums after the whistle, opposing players are always yappin at Dion. And it seems to be only Dion that they focus on. Yah, I know he tends to "pick on" opposition teams smaller guys, but the hate seems to be rooted much deeper than that. Am I imagining this or has anyone else noticed this. Just some Wednesday morning pondering is all... HH
  24. Pretty much sums up my feelings on that shop Drew! LOL HH
