well that's weird...I don't remember any "lady" ever working there. I do remember the "new one" cursing a blue streak when I woke her up early one morning
-
funny you two mention it....I have been specifically looking for a nissan 9.8 or a yamaha, although open to other options if necessary. Their is a yamaha out there...but its a 20 hp and a long shaft...so needs a 14 footer with high transom...haven't found a cheap one of those yet so haven't acted on the motor.

New would be wonderful....but since the budget has long since been blown...this is "what is the cheapest way to get me, and some renters out fishing"...and paddling aint gonna happen!
-
Thanks for all the input. We took possession today so naturally had to sneak up there after work tonight, couldn't stay tho, have to work tomorrow. The ice is fully off the lake moon glimmering off the water...a good feeling! Now that I know the ice is off gotta get this boat thing figured out!

Have you ever worked for a company that: NF
Rizzo replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Nice gesture! And yes I have been fortunate to work for places who throw you some extra $$ for going to meetings on your own time. I always made a point to thank the boss for that, telling them it wasn't necessary but very much appreciated. Those little gestures by employers go a long way -
Spincast...when I rented out a place we owned before, I always ensured there was LOTS of mixed gas up there for that exact reason. I generally provided all the gas for someone's stay

GBW...that is exactly what I am looking for...minus the trailer! Once its at the lake it will stay at the lake. Gonna have to check distance to havelock but sounds far
-
haha I love that. My buddy often says something runs "like a raped ape"...gonna have to remember "scalded dog"

We recently got a waterfront property, so now I have need for a tinny to keep up there both for my use, and if we rent the place, something for the renters. I plan to get an aluminum in the 12-14 foot range, with a motor somewhere in the 9.9 to 15 hp range. Its not a big lake, but want something with enough pep to maybe tow one of my kids (one at a time!) on a tube once in a while. They are young, don't need too much of a thrill. But for the most part...trolling around (also with the kids) for an hour or two here and there. Its been a while since I owned a 2 stroke, but I think I am leaning that way. Having said that...very open to suggestions on both 2 vs 4 stroke, specific manufacturers and also the vintage of the motor. Was hoping to get something maybe 10 years old...but see lots of motors from the 1980's that guys are charging huge dollars for. Are the 80's motors bulletproof or something? I am stunned to see what people are asking for them on Kijiji. Almost has me wondering if "they don't make em like the good old days" because prices of 1980's motors seem almost the same as early 2000's. Then again...just because guys are asking $900 for a 35 year old 9.9 doesn't mean they are getting it!

living the life! I used to fish a lot of Florida golf courses....some big bass in there never seen a texas rigged worm before!
-
what size you looking for and when do you need it? Are you willing to go used? I am in the market for a small boat, but have no need for the trailer. I have been looking only at boats that come without the trailer...but if I knew I had an instant taker of the trailer....

River pike this time of year? Prince Edward county
Rizzo replied to Weeds's topic in General Discussion
No clue about the fishing but it sounds like we have similar fond memories of growing up spending time in Prince Edward County. If I could only count the number of times I got kicked out from Sandbanks...man that made for some interesting adventures. -
I have tried a couple other things, always come back to the 80lb powerpro

Nice way to end a great season. But those extra pockets can get really annoying when you are trying to find something!

Welcome. I just moved away from Barrie a couple of years ago. Man you are in for a treat. Great place to live, nice people and some awesome fishing at your doorstep. Shouldn't take you long to find it!
-
hahaha...there were so many zeros on the price I am not even sure how much they want. Seems a little small if you ask me Anyways, you are correct, I have been looking. Funny thing is, I actually just bought a place a few weeks ago, closing is still coming up. Your timing is quite coincidental. Unfortunately, its not near Barrie....that was just too far away (not to mention a few zeros out of my budget). It is on a small lake called Habermehl..over near Hanover. I actually asked a question about that lake on here at the time I was looking....and since I got zero public replies (did get one pm) I thought that is a good thing! The less known the better. You are welcome to launch your personal craft there any time. Apparently it has dink pike and stunted largemouth...perfect for my kids!

Things you notice getting ready for spring
Rizzo replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
never ever retire a lure that works. I have one supershadrap that is absolutely trashed...yet it continues to get trashed even more. I will run that one on one planer board and then a different one on the other board. Other than some hook rash the second one looks quite new, just doesn't seem to garner the interest of the first. -
Family fishing with Reeds on Lake Nippising
Rizzo replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
Great trip! Little tip...most people clean their fish before cooking em -
Those are some fun decisions to have to make. Since I have never done a fly in I have zero advice....however, I am excited to hear how it all works out!
-
To me it would make sense to take it off, I always do and wouldn't complain if they made it a rule for others. I have banged my shins off exposed hitches more than once. You also see cars with neatly punched holes in their front bumper! These things perhaps might not have happened if a receiver/ball was not in place
-
That's a thank you for all the food. Nice to get a thank you from the front side...sure you get plenty of thank you's from the back as well!
-
largemouth bass...decent one but I've caught better
-
Nice! I can't believe you counted all the way to 107. After a couple I've already forgotten how many I got.
-
Anyone know anything...anything at all about this lake?

All the best in your search. A few years ago I was looking for a good quality used boat as well. Figured it would be like finding a good used car. It wasn't. Tons of cars out there coming off lease etc...not so much in the boat world. I personally was hoping to get something just a few years old. That didn't work out so I ended up buying new. The fact that you are willing to go 10+ years old will help...should give you a lot more options than I was able to find. Make sure to let us know what you finally buy! Exciting times
