The mister twister was a fantastic discovery I made around 40 years ago. As a kid my "opa" and I always trolled for pike using Williams Wobblers. One day I saw a Mr. Twister with a little silver spinner in his tackle box...an early precursor to a "spinner bait". I decided to troll that thing...outfished Grandpa so bad he soon switched. Both of us trolling Beetle Spins or whatever the heck they called em. I don't use them anymore, but it sure taught me spinnerbaits catch fish

I see baby barracuda, wahoo (although I first thought it was a kingfish), and then a ballyhoo (they make fine bait)

Well the decision got sped up...turns out Rona was having a scratch and save this weekend. Couldn't turn that down. Unfortunately I only scratched 15% off...but its better than nothing!

ya horseshoe is a nice lake. Couple of shoals to watch out for. Fished there years ago the guy at the marina (at that time) gave me a rough map of lake showing shoals. There are some big pike in there too. I will send you a pm

Contractor is a buddy from Barrie, so he doesn't have any local contacts or accounts. But whichever one is more likely to give me "contractor pricing" will probably get the business! Heading up there Saturday. Hoping Rona will let me do a "scratch and save" if I open an account, and then add items to that account over the next week or so as the material needs become known. I know this much...crapload of 12 foot deckboards and a wack of 6x6x12's too! Anyone want to rent a cottage next year for their family let me know. Gotta pay for this fancy new deck somehow!

Its a crazy big deck Brian! I am going lower cost materials like pressure treated and basic wood spindles vs cedar and metal balusters. Been a bit since I did the measurements but I think its close to 700 square feet...oh ya...and its a good 8 feet off the ground too!

Earlier this year we got a cottage up near Hanover. I did a couple small projects myself (couple of floating docks) but didn't really check around on price, just used Home Hardware for all the materials. No clue if I got a good price or got fleeced. Now we have a significant task...replacing a pretty big deck. I have been told to expect material costs to be around $5000. Much more than my $300 swim raft! Anyone have any thoughts on these two potential suppliers (HH or Rona) with respect to price or quality of lumber? Rona has a scratch and save this week-end but I am not quite ready to place the order yet as my material list isn't here from the contractor.

We used to have a cottage near there on "Windfall" lake. I never fished Roberts because it seemed way more populated than many other lakes in the area. The spots I went to (and they had easy access) all offered great pike and bass so I never needed to bother with Roberts

cant say I have ever casted thru a birds nest but it would make sense. Every once in a while you get one where no picking is required, just keep pulling hard on line. Now this video is something else. That I will have to try some time....almost excited for a backlash to happen

Awesome! One heck of a fish. I have a buddy in Barrie who always casts a dang believer when we go out (for me I just use it trolling as well). So you are not the only one (even from Barrie!) who likes to cast em.

Sounds like a lot of work. I would just buy more minnows next time

I would say 4.5 lbs or so...unless all the other guys laying around it are 3.5 pounders! It certainly dwarfs the others
