  1. ...and as far as impeller goes...it eventually kicks in...I think motor has a themorstat and needs time to warm up. Willl replace it sometime this summer as a preventative measure
  2. how the story ends..(I did a separate thread on this)....there was a ton of water in the gas tank the original owner gave me. Lesson learned,,,don't use someone else's gas! Freshtrax came over, took everything apart...we drained gas a couple of times...took carb apart twice... got rid of a whole bunch of gas...got er running and now she runs like a champ!
  3. 2 questions...Severn Falls? and how is Princie? still treating you right I hope? (oops I suppose that is three questions)
  4. I fished there once many moons ago. As I recall there is tons of shallow weedy water up there, especially in Little lake. Wasn't too hard to find the pike
  5. that thing is ridiculous
  6. Most of my fishing is done for muskies on L St Clair. Since the people I take are usually pretty new to musky fishing no way am I gonna cast! Couple rookies launching giant baits is not good for my health. Plus in L St Clair you can have 2 lines per person. With three guys in a boat, trolling 6 lines off planer boards, it works out pretty effective most days
  7. I have a curado which I do like...only problem is I troll sometimes and the lack of a clicker is a bit unfortunate. Was distracted while trolling with one of my sons last year when he says to me "Dad why is this real spinning"? Grrrr..turned around in time to see the rod buckled over drag peeling out...and then it was gone.
  8. Man that sucks. Hope they still find it. Check Rush Lake...maybe it made it all the way over there. The water flows that way doesn't it? Or does it flow up from Rush?
  9. ditto on the salty's. I have 4 bolted on my regular boat plus a clamp on model for the cottage tinny
  10. you can't remember a week-end without fishing...I can't remember the last time I did fish. Probably ice fishing sometime in February
  11. There are people everywhere that recycle these kind of things. When I was in Barrie I did a funeral for a man who lost his wife...he mentionned what he did (collect and sell scrap). A couple weeks after the service I dropped off a lawnmower for him to scrap. A few years later unfortunately that man also died...when I met the rest of the family and told them the story, they mentionned how their father had often talked about the funeral director that dropped off a lawnmower for him! Thought that was really neat...so whatever you do...not the landfill...find your local guy who does this stuff and give it to him.
  12. I just picked up a lawnmower like that at a garage sale for 70.00 (and that included a wagon for the kids!)
  13. I remember fishing in there perch so thick you can walk on em some days...and other days,,,wasteland
  14. I will do that...as soon as I figure out what the cylinder head looks like
  15. Great story. Never done a fly-in...and since I have 4 boys who would all want to come along not sure it will ever be in the cards. You certainly make it look appealing though
  16. I did do that...it was pretty hot. Not scalding or anything, but hot enough that made me think maybe it should be replaced. Then again, I'm not sure how hot it should be!
  17. So it does eventually start peeing out...I suppose maybe there is a thermostat in there. Having said that, it doesn't come out in a real nice stream...more of an intermittent spray. The plan is to replace that as a preventative measure
  18. knows his stuff indeed. Saved me from the wrath of my wife as well for buying faulty motor
  19. One of the issues was the gas can the guy gave me had more water in it than gas apparently. But I think there was more wrong, because even if it was watery gas, you would still get wet spark plugs after half an hour of pulling. The plugs were dry even after repeated pulls
  20. After buying an outboard on Kijiji, I got real discouraged when it ran very poorly when I got it home (why it didn't get tested at seller is a long story). By poorly, I mean it didn't run at all. I posted here...got lots of great advice...but when nothing was working I was in over my head. Well what do you know Freshtrax sent me a pm and offered to come over and get it running for me! Well that motor was pretty stubborn, but he did manage to get it going after a bit of sweat and contemplation. Now she is purring like a kitten. Starts on first pull and my wife isn't giving me the gears for dropping $$$ on a piece o crapola engine. Thanks Freshtrax, you really know your stuff!
  21. I had heard the same...by committing suicide before he could be found guilty again (first conviction was under appeal) he opened the way for family to get a huge payday. If they actually succeed I hope it is all taken away and given to the families of his victims
  22. very nice. Used to visit that store regularly when I lived in Toronto...now its just a special occasions thing. Biggest musky selection I have ever seen
  23. wow great fish and a great story...only negative is the amount of comapny out there. Sometimes I run lines 450 feet back, wouldnt trust it with that many out there
  24. Wow you guys are awesome with the replies. Luckily a local member has offered to have a look so hopefully we can get it going. The former owner has also told me he will look after getting it running but since he lives in Barrie hope this works first rather than figuring out how to get it to him
  25. he did mention stomping on the priming bulb might free it up? Blast of pressure...assuming this is even the problem
