  7. Right on. Nice fish and welcome to the board
  8. well that beats the for sale sign I caught once
  9. My opener is the 15th...can't wait
  10. This is absolutely true. When I finally left my first job to become a GM elsewhere....guess who came calling about 3 years later? You got it. My first employer (whom according to grimsbylander I blackmailed) asked that I come back to join them in a significant role. Apparently they didn't feel my honesty (needing a full-time job) was blackmail! We chose not to go back as I loved where I was working. However, to this day (23 years later), I still have a great relationship with the folks who were wise enough to give me that full-time job they knew I was looking for.
  11. Bingo
  12. I had it free for a month a short time ago and noticed The Musky Hunter was not part of the line-up anymore...that was disappointing
  13. anybody home yet? I can't stand the suspense.
  14. Interesting...because 20 years ago I did this exact thing and it worked out great for me. I was an intern, and the boss was stringing me along...would only extend my internship rather than offer me full-time. I was a great employee (never sick, worked hard, no complaining, got things done correctly, had graduated top of my class etc) and they knew it. When I told my manager I was going to look for a full-time job elsewhere it could not have been 5 minutes later I was called in to see the General Manager. I was given a 10k raise, a fulltime job, and full benefits. So take it for what its worth. I was not blackmailing anyone. I told my manager I needed a full time job, and if one wasn't being offered here I would need to get one somewhere else. As an aside, I did mention I would prefer to stay here...but if there was no fulltime opening I would need to look elsewhere. And as someone who later became a General Manager themselves (about 12 years after that breakthrough), I can attest that I would have no problem if someone who had true potential brought this to me. Do I want the person that badly? If I do I would create a fulltime job. Truly valuable employees are hard to find! Do not let one get away.But...do you rate yourself higher than I do? THEN I do what grimsbylander has said...I tell you all the best, and if possible please provide me with two weeks notice once you find the job you are looking for. The chance you take. I needed a full time job, and I got it. Had a great relationship for 12 years with that company until I was head-hunted to become GM of a different company. So make up your own mind...but if you are a great employee I certainly wouldn't let you get away!
  15. will be a couple weeks before I can get out there...so don't sting em all!
  16. brutal. I would tell them I am going to start actively looking for a different job and see what they do. If you are as valuable as you sound, they will keep you on and make things right.
  17. Right on! Beauty fish
  18. So I have a 5 gallon tank for the outboard...but you can't see through the cover on the gas gauge...its all weather beaten and worn. It also isn't sealed well so water can get in there. Can this whole apparatus be bought separately? Its got a black lid that screws on, a "clear" gas dome that shows fuel level, and a couple metal rods with a float on them that measures gas level.
  19. I do not view "authorities" as us vs them. I view authorities as my cousin, my neighbour and the guy that I fish with who just happen to have a job keeping an eye on things. Regular people (for the most part). I admit I also have run into the odd "power-tripper" but I was polite, let him do his thing and had no issues. Why? Because I had nothing to hide and after they do their diligence they would know that (rather than just taking my word for it).
  20. gummy worms work. Friend of mine used a hunk of apricot once...that didn't
  21. Truly unbelievable...I could do better work and I am useless
  22. I am surprised someone would refuse the search. You have nothing to hide, so why waste these guys time? They are simply trying to do a job to protect resources. As soon as you reject the search you act like you are guilty. If you got pulled over at a RIDE check, and you had nothing to drink, would you refuse the breathalyzer? I can't understand the confrontational nature. I would just politely tell the guy "go ahead" and then I would have a polite chat while he is doing it. I would rather be 10 kms down the highway thinking "what a nice that guy that CO was" than be the confrontational guy who is now being given the gears and is still sitting at the checkpoint.
  23. Spent the night for the first time at our cottage, cut the grass, tidied the gardens, cut down 12 trees, fixed the screen door, took the kids fishing, bbq'ed some steaks, built a swim raft, had several fires, fixed the lock on the shed...and drank cold beer while doing most of the above
  24. Whatever happened to that marina in Jordan Harbour? My sister had a farm nearby and I used to launch my little tinny there after a day of work...never went under that bridge though, just fished the harbour
  25. ...funny...when I was commenting on the weight and that's its not like the "light" spoons...I had the Williams Wobler in mind. Been close to 40 years since I used a Williams Wobbler though...didn't know if anyone would know the reference...apparently one person would've!
