  1. too funny. If I stole some drunk guy's gear I would be running and hiding, not making fun of said dude on social media. Never know what people will do...some of us are loose cannons who will react crazily.
  2. interesting about going slow...I would have figured rip along as fast as you can...less time on ice doesn't even give it a chance to break. Didn't think about the effects of the water below
  3. yuck...you don't just squish those in a kleenex!
  4. Ya that's a beaut for sure, worth the trek out
  5. I don't know names of any of the islands up there, but when I used to fish severn falls area we would launch at the marina and hang a left to go under the train bridge. There are countless weedy bays off the main channel...some quite small (half an acre?) and some quite large (10-20 acres). I would suggest trolling along the north shore (or at least what I am picturing to be north), and every time you see one of these bays pop into it and fan cast. There are more of these than you could fish in a day. When I lived up that way Severn Falls was usually my first fishing destination when the season opened..as the summer showed up I just found it too busy for my liking.
  6. very tragic, thankfully they were at least able to save one of the two
  7. eels and hand bombing a shark....that's good times!
  8. When I used to live in Barrie I really enjoyed fishing Balsam. Now that I am in Guelph I get out there only once or so a year. Still has a soft place in my heart and some great memories of nice muskies. With the pike coming in and then really multiplying in the last ten years I am glad to hear there are some small muskies in this episode (I haven't seen it). Hopefully there are lots of little ones in there still! Congrats to those who got to fish with Jim...very cool.
  9. sorry forgot to tell you the name of the store...but its near vaughan mills mall...in one of those plazas just north of the mall. Canadian Outfitters? I think that is the name but can't recall. The have good hours and good bait, but for good size suckers you may need to sell a kidney.
  10. very unfortunate Jacob's is so unreliable. When we head up that way needing suckers I now buy in Toronto because I had too many occasions when I would get there and nobody home. He has ruined more than one fishing trip for me...but no more! Pay a bit more in Toronto and have piece of mind. Even when his phone was working, he would never answer it anyways. That place was great when he had the first woman I remember (12 years ago), took a bit of a down turn when the next one came on board (8 years ago?), but now that she's gone (I believe) its terrible. Especially mid week I would never count on getting bait there...perhaps week-ends he is more reliable.
  11. I missed the whole game except the last 5 minutes and overtime...apparently I chose the right time to turn on the tv.
  12. Wow 4 hours is impressive. If I get 2 hours out of my kids (and they are boys older than her) I am happy
  13. reasonably common to see pike or musky choke on a bass or sheephead
  14. I would think the pike died trying to eat that bass, floated upwards and ice formed around them
  15. that is some serious perching
  16. I have done those drift boats for years (parents used to winter down in WPB and I was a single guy with time to burn). On those drift boats I have caught Black tips, sailfish, barracuda, dolphin, bonita, kingfish and all those goofy bottom dwellers. Never got a wahoo tho, hoping this is the time.
  17. awesome! We are taking a cruise with the kids in a month, the day we come back hope to get my boys on one of the drift fishing boats before our flight home. I will show them some of your videos for inspiration
  18. here all along she's been giving you a different story!
  19. I use that blue stuff, ten pound test. Really lets you see where the line is at when its laying on the ice so (hopefully) the kids don't go running through it and get all tangled up
  20. Old Ironmaker...it is their new Child tax Benefit...or whatever they call it. Conservatives had one too...I think my BIL was getting maybe 10k under that government. Liberals came in and all of a sudden their payouts triple. They didnt ask for it, didnt apply for it...it just started showing up because they had a "low" income and 6 kids..."low" because they just take out what they need. Now they can take out even less because liberals are just throwing the $$$ at them! Spend spend spend....the deficit will be astronomical in a very short period when stuff like this is going on.
  21. just a few people out on the ice out there! some nice looking fish tho
  22. The guy is a scammer, has no idea how to deal with our money. Let me provide a specific example. My brother in law is self employed with a wife and 6 children. They take out from their business only what they need to survive, other profit goes back into the business. Our government has decided to give them almost $30,000 a year in support payments!!!! Total abuse of taxpayers money. Ridiculous. and that is only one example. I can't begin to imagine across the entire country how much $$$ he is absolutely wasting. Buying votes I guess. Why would you not vote for someone who is gonna give you whatever you want? They were stunned to see the massive amounts of $$$ rolling their way
  23. Is that a little remora flopping around after that guy catches the black tip? Nice video!
  24. Not too many musky guys never had a C3 at some point!
  25. aaaah herring. Is there an easier fish on earth to catch? I guess that's why they had to be protected. Aggressive little buggers.Nice video Brian
