dave524 Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 None of them have been retired by the Leafs. They have honoured several; but they have not retired any of them. my bad then, I thought JVR going to number 25 from Salming's old number 21 which he was wearing meant they were retired.
leaf4 Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) my bad then, I thought JVR going to number 25 from Salming's old number 21 which he was wearing meant they were retired. That's because they DID retire them, 13 numbers in total representing 19 menhttp://www.cbc.ca/m/sports/hockey/nhl/leafs-retire-17-numbers-1.3807250 Edited October 16, 2016 by Lucas F
DRIFTER_016 Posted October 16, 2016 Author Report Posted October 16, 2016 None of them have been retired by the Leafs. They have honoured several; but they have not retired any of them. Actually they retired all of those honored at last nights ceremony. And added Dave Keon's # to the retired list. That is why JVR now has #25 as his # was one of the ones retired last night.
muskymatt Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Matthews had a once in a lifetime game. He'll never do it again. The laffs have a loss against the Sens and a win against a Bruins team that will finish in the bottom 3.
Old Ironmaker Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 They will wear the same numbers but with an asterisk beside them. But you are all right there soon won't be any numbers to wear unless all double digits. Look what you started Wiener. If I remember right 99 represented the year his Oiler contract expired or it was for 99 million up to 1999. Lucas I don't know why you would want to hold off making the playoffs. Even of a team doesn't go deep into the playoffs that playoff experience is very valuable to a player no matter what sport.

Better draft picks, and most of the young guys being drafted early on go deep in the junior ranks anyway so an NHL run while different, not largely from an ahl cup run, and once you get a good group of young guys the better chance is they are a deeper, more talented group
DRIFTER_016 Posted October 17, 2016 Author Report Posted October 17, 2016 Matthews had a once in a lifetime game. On that second goal of his I thought the Sens had 5 Dion Phaneufs on the ice!!!
chris.brock Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Better draft picks, I'm not into that theory. Play to win, don't hold back the horses. Draft smarter. I hope we've got the right people in place to do that now. The Wings pull rabbits out of their hats and the Oilers don't.

leaf4 Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Speaking of rabbits out of hats... Where was Joe colbornes hatty, and Richard paniks when they were on the leafs lol...
Acountdeleted Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 Ok so I'm a leafs fan but WHAT THE HECK BOYS? A 4-0 lead with a few minutes left in the 2nd and they end up losing 5-4. Babcock has to teach those kids some D. Loving the firepower but geez. Where was the backchecking?
Oggie Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 Did I hit replay in my PVR? Am I watching the same team as last year? Where's Reimer when you need to blame it on a goalie??
Canadave Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 I can`t think of anything more boring than watching a bunch of guys I don`t even know slapping a piece of rubber around to see who can get it into the net the most times.

Some people pay to see a bunch of guys they don't know slapping around rubber intentionally! The internet is an amazing place! Hahaha
muskymatt Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Ahhhh, all is well in laffland!! Brilliant!

grimsbylander Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Ahhhh, all is well in laffland!! Brilliant! Leafs lose...Matt crawls out of hole. Leafs win...Matt is quiet Leafs trade crappy players to Ottawa...Matt is in hiding Leafs get #1 pick...Matt is totally invisible It's like Groundhog Day. Wiarton Willie, Punxsutawney Phil and Musky Matt!! Here's hoping you earn your rightful place on Gobbler's Knob and the Leafs get another great pick!
AKRISONER Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 why has no one brought up the sens atrocious attendance this season...major talk that the franchise is toast! http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/senators-attendance-slump-sign-of-decade-long-malaise-1.3811686 lol embarrassment of a canadian hockey team

Had to wait a couple games to see what was happening. Laffs are off to a losing start. Sens are off to a winning start. Traded players doing well. #1 draft pick has 1 lucky game before the dreaded blue and white disease absorbs him for life and his career is over. Invisible is a little harsh and not totally correct. Lets just say I was gloating in the background

leaf4 Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 "Traded players are doing well." Hahahaha enjoy thinking that with Phaneuf and his 7million dollar cap hit!
BassMan11 Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 Regardless of how this game finishes. 3 things are apparent with the Leafs. 1. We are going to have lots of speed and skill upfront 2. Our D obviously needs a few more pieces 3. Andersen is not the tender we are looking for. Exciting team to watch though lol!
