huzzsaba Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 That's where Im going in less than a week. How thick was the ice? How do the operators get their guys to the huts? Or is it walk to your own hut type of arrangement lol.

Or is it walk to your own hut type of arrangement lol. A typical sled/atv is about 400-600 pounds, that Jeep is at least 3500 pounds. A sled with 2 guys and gear still weighs less than a 1/3 of the gross weight of the jeep.
Dara Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 And after he gets out, another heads out with an ATV and hut...death wish
irishfield Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Well I bet it was a LOT cheaper getting that jeep out than my buddies C185 in Timmins yesterday !

chris.brock Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Well I bet it was a LOT cheaper getting that jeep out than my buddies C185 in Timmins yesterday ! What's the story there? That plane looks to be on wheels. Edited February 1, 2016 by chris.brock
misfish Posted February 1, 2016 Author Report Posted February 1, 2016 Bad landing, but cool pic of the lift .
irishfield Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 He was going cross country and got into icing conditions. With his wings loading up with ice he had no choice, either land or be landed! He broke threw the slush crust into 18" of surface water. Got off pretty lucky, other than the helicopter recovery it will cost him a prop, engine tear down and a lower cowling. Thankfully it never went over on its back.
pike slayer Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 Buddy is lucky he had a jeep. Just pull the carpet to dry and the drain plugs but Geez what an idiot going out there.
