adam lancia Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 That looks great! And lots of nice, solid looking rocks to put anchors into for a dock. I think he said the two windows on the left side will be 5' x 8', those little ones are just temporary.
DRIFTER_016 Posted August 5, 2015 Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Looks awesome bud! Will there be more and larger windows facing the lake? Those 2 little windows in the front are just temporary. There will be 4 5'X8' windows across the front. Where ever you see bare wood is a window. Edited August 5, 2015 by DRIFTER_016
lew Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 The place is really coming along great Dave and thanks for posting the pictures of the progress.
solopaddler Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Those 2 little windows in the front are just temporary. There will be 4 5'X8' windows across the front. Where ever you see bare wood is a window. Wicked!
DRIFTER_016 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Got my front wall beam finished, also got the scaffolding done. It works great!! Also got my gable end ridge braces in place and have mostly completed assembly of the ridge board. It's going to be interesting trying to get the 41' long piece of 2X12 eighteen feet up in the air!!!! Lots of wild fire smoke here the past couple of days too. Edited August 6, 2015 by DRIFTER_016
JoePa Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Just got done reading this post for the first time - all I can say is - WOW -
akaShag Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 That's a pretty clear day up there compared to last year at this time! Some days we could not see ten yards on Great Slave for the smoke.......... Doug
ratherboutdoors Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 It's going to be interesting trying to get the 41' long piece of 2X12 eighteen feet up in the air!!!! Perhaps you could convince the Hydro chopper to give you a lift?
DRIFTER_016 Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 Well it took most of the day but I got the ridge board in place and secured!!! Took about 2 1/2 hours to rig the crane and about 3 1/2 to raise the ridge and secure it. I figure the board weighs in at about 250#. Think I'll do light work the rest of the day and start rafters tomorrow.

Cleaned up all my construction debris and whipped up a set of temporary stairs for gettin' in and out of the crib!!! No more climbing the ladder to get in and out.

DRIFTER_016 Posted August 7, 2015 Author Report Posted August 7, 2015 Got my 4 gable rafters up and in position. Took longer than expected as I had to work to get my master rafter fitting properly. Lots of up and down the scaffolding with a 16' 2X10 testing and marking..................... The good news is the rafters all fit perfectly. Time for dinner and then see how many I can get done after dinner.
leaf4 Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Crazy! Nice job so far. Hurrying to finish up the roof before you're back to work?
DRIFTER_016 Posted August 8, 2015 Author Report Posted August 8, 2015 Hopefully the rafters will all be up before I head home on Sunday. Back to work on Monday. Got 4 more rafters up after dinner.
