They say you really know who your friends are when the crap hits the fan: OR

You go down to the basement at 7:00 am and find out that your septic system had backed up and there is crap all over the floor, the bath tub is over flowing and the toilet and everything is covered in it.

I called the young fellow that sometimes works for me and within 1/2 an hour he, his dad, and his dad's helper showed up. I was sicker than a dog with this flu from hell to the point I'd had to go to the hospital yesterday morning so I was not in very good shape.

Well, those three guys dug up the septic tank, found out that the tank wasn't draining properly. We called in a friend that owns a pump truck (honey waggon) and a friend that is an excavator, the pump truck was here in 20 minutes and pumped the tank then the three fellows worked their butts off to clear the line from the house to the tank and then started working on the basement.

By noon, the excavator friend showed up and they started digging up the drain line from the tank to the field bed. They found the problem, a disconnected header line, fixed that, checked everything over, installed a second line (or something) so that this could never happen again then came back inside and finished cleaning up the mess in the basement. They washed everything, sanitized it, Steam cleaned the carpets, and finally finished up at 4:30.

When I went to try to pay them they just smiled and said "take us fishing some day this summer".

I am so very blessed with some of the most wonderful people in my life. So many people on this board would be here to help me if I ever needed it, sometimes I am almost afraid to ask because they always go way and beyond.

I may not have a lot of money but I feel like the richest man in the world! :worthy: FRIENDS!

Great news Cliff. How often though have you been on the other side of that equation? It boils down to what Don (Tracker) said. Hope you're getting over that bug.

LOL no Wayne your camera didn't get wet, in fact that is why I went down stairs this morning; to get the charger and stuff and make sure the battery was charged before I sent it. (and no, you don't get a discount because that was the reason I went down stairs LOL) although I am sure glad I did!

Cliff, I've never met you, but you have helped me with your small engine knowledge and was very much appreciated. I so glad that there are people like you willing to help out, damn if I was closer I'd have my boots on.

Hope it all works out well for you. On this board all you have you do is ask and they come running.

Glad to hear such a nice (in the end - no pun) story that worked out for you Cliff. You have my number if you ever need a hand (please, just not a septic problem) with anything.

With all the people you have helped over the years, it's good to see some of that goodwill pay back for you. Money isn't everything boys and girls, remember that.

BTW, get better.

    • A family and friends fishing report

For the last 5 years in the summer my wife and I rent a cottage somewhere within a 2ish hour drive from Ottawa for a week of fishing and relaxing. March of last year our little guy was born and the trip has turned into more of a family vacation than a fishing trip as expected. Last year we found a cottage we really enjoyed with great fishing and decided to book it again for our 2019 trip. This year my good friend and his wife joined us on the trip which is always a lot of fun. The little guy is

    • BASS OPENER FAMILY/FRIENDS FUN REPORT

My Bass opener was delayed a bit as I had some other commitments opening weekend.  I started Wed after the opening weekend and fishing was great.  Caught 50 or 60 fish that were mostly small but did get a few this size.  (swallowed the hook so it was lunch the next day with a couple smaller ones)   The long weekend came and had to put the rods down and keep the boat docked while the non fisher people were visiting.  We still had fun even tho the fish were calling my name.

    • Friends with Criminals

A great thread has sparked up on another bass forum that I frequent. The thread asks about who you may have known that ended up being a hardcore felon or criminal. pretty intriguing and interesting stuff, especially because the majority of people claim that you would never suspect so and so of being a murderer or bank robber etc etc. Personally my uncle has been in and outta the slammer his whole life but his stuff is just from hanging with a tough crowd i.e. bikers etc. and suffering from

    • A tough week for our friends down south

After 2 (what looks to be) "murders" by police officers and another 10 police officers shot in (what looks to be) retaliation this week, emotions are running high with a lot of people. I fear it is only going to get worse before it gets better. Thoughts go out to all of the victims in all 3 cases.   Terrible terrible stuff.
