Let start this, so no more posts are ruined by others with there opinion on no or yes for photoshoping . As you notice I really don't care about the photoshop work. In my opinion I don't see the use of giving a report and tactics, if you are at the Ganny and I am up at Meaford, the report is useless. Just my opinion.

Anybody else..........

I don't see a problem with photoshop stuff.

Some people don't want hoards of anglers fishing and/or ruining their favourite spots,

so they change the background to hide the location.

Some photoshop for humor, etc.

Some pics are real, but we believe they are photoshop work, like people in tutu's. :w00t::P

Reports are for everyone. If you're not interested, you don't have to say so.

If someone reports from B.C. and I'm in southern Ontario, I look at the report

as just that, a report.

I wouldn't turn my nose up or get bent because it's from somewhere I probably would never fish.

If I like the report, which I usually do, I'll say so. If by chance I don't like it for whatever reason,

I can move on. Is this too simple a concept for some people to understand. :dunno:

I hate photoshopped pics.

Ah yes Roy. That photo was obviously sharpened. A little too much Photoshop IMHO.

I ALWAYS photoshop my pics....my nose isn't straight and my hair is a mess most of the time. I have to look the best in pics....

Oh wait...did I miss the point????? :D

well from where I stand or sit

the word photoshop has become such a Generic word, when talking about photos.....that it in itself has very little meaning....

if I use photoshop to download and save my photos, have I photoshopped my photo.....

if I use it to resize the photo have I photoshopped the photo

or if the flash didn't go off and I lighten it or darken it or change the color so my shirt looks like the color in real life,

I say as long as you don't change the size of the fish..or the person holding it, who cares what they do

Carp hit the nail on the head here..Some people are critical of trivial stuff it seems. Its interesting to see some of the photo shopped pics.

I use photoshop to enhance a pic that didn't turn out just right. Nothing wrong with that. I don't bother with changing or deleting backgrounds because we get so little pressure on the lakes here that it's not worth worrying about. Several thousand lakes in the area and little pressure makes it a great place to live and fish. Fun stuff with photoshop is ok with me too.

personally I have seen good spots see more pressure due to photoshop! This water park used to have noboy using the fountaines now my family has to wait bout half an hour to find parking just to get in

Also How does ChrisS feel about photoshop?

Like seeing the pics...and I like seing the background as well.

But I fully understand why some back grounds are blacked out...If I felt you could tell my spots I might do the same(if it was a smaller sensitive area)

But really...

I'm WAY more interested in the report.

Whats working, techniques...whats new etc.

There are some on the board here that are great for this...full detailed report with Pics to boot!!!

Thats the good stuff there ;)

Thats the kind of thing I like to see, but hey...

By all means post your pics, brag, be informitive...maybe do both, or do what you do.

If I'm not into it...I won't Reply.

i'm all for it, but personally I like to leave the background it and do various touch ups to make things look nicer (like DanC)

Well most of you know where I stand on this issue.. I have no issue with touchups resizing etc.. But to put yourself in a casino holding a rainbow... it definately takes something away from the report... and borders on foolishness. instead of being a pic of nature and angler it has become a picture of the angler and only the angler. There are other fishing related websites out there that this is all that is posted (edited pictures) and those sites are full of people I dont think I would care to fish with..I wonder if that is why so many anglers migrate here because they are fed up with other sites....and they even state "I finally found a place where I am comfortable" then the same thing starts here and they will move on again once the get fedup enough...

I am all for reports and pictures etc... but some of these reports have turned into less of a report and more of a LOOK AT ME type of post...

Just my opinion folks dont shoot me for it.

I agree with Gerritt. I changed to this site specifically because people took pictures of their fishing lives, not just fish. I like all the pics and don't look at any that I don't like. It is personal editing. We do it all the time when we change tv channels because we don't like what's on. :)

I hear ya buddy.

But I'm a grand stander though.

It can take a lot of time and effort to catch a fish and prepare the dang reports.

I am not computer savy and it can take me hours to type with one finger and figure out the rest of the posting nightmare.

I do blur my backgrounds too protect the locations (as they are in urban areas 80% of the time). On the odd occassion when I haven't, well the PM's rolled in telling me to be more courtious to protect others spots.

The casino thing is a little much though!!!

I am curious though (sorry if you've mentioned it already) are you opposed to blurring photos to protect a location?

P.S. I believe that any report with/without pictures is a "look at me/look what I caught" self gratification.

I also believe that the OFC community is based on information exchange and self gratification.

Information, entertainment, aquatic voyeurism and ego are the foundation of our participation here.

To be honest Snag for me (me myself and I) I like pics that show scenery... I personally think that the reason I fish is because I love being outdoors surrounded by nature. How can I say this and get my point across correctly....???? If there are obvious landmarks say a skyscraper, or a fishing lodge, a bridge, yes if you are concerned about your spot then by all means blurr it out as it is an obvious landmark... but if you are surround by trees and rock (yanno nature stuff) then leave it in. It adds so much more to the report and to the pictures in general.. In away I agree with you yes some reports are a type of self gratification... but as of late some of these reports have gotten worse and worse... look at my trout I caught it in the Grand Canyon! these are hardly reports but are more along the lines of see me and my fish!! I took heat (in pms) for posting my last report because I didnt edit the pics and I told people where I was... for christ's sakes you could see the Blue Mountains in the background... heaven forbid..

I will not edit my pictures as I think pictures of mothers natures beauty are just as deserving of praise...

perhaps we should start editing the backgrounds of Owl pictures too.... just so NOONE else can photograph them... understand what I am trying to convey?

not to mention the fact that SOMEONE owns the pictures that have been used as backgrounds... and could be sued without having permission to use them or paying royalties. This site could also be asked to remove said pictures via legal channels. <--- Just a thought..Please do not post copyrighted material. <-- as per the board rules... we know OFC doesnt need anymore legal hassles.

Looks like we are pretty much on the same page.

I have never inserted another image to conceal a location, only blurring.

I don't have the time or skill to bother.

I also prefer the au' natural look; whenever possible.

I will also preserve mother natures beauty by posting hard to locate, un-adulterated photos and posting blurred, don't-come-here-and-ruin-the-fishing-for-me photos.

I have to warn you now that I feel an urge to include your likeness into one of my future posts!!!

Cheers
