How many more years do we have to endure the Leafs finish without a high draft pick and nothing else to show for it?
-
What was ugly in the Michalek/Phaneuf was what happened before the fight. Phaneuf slew foots, then Michalek spears.

I think you've already won the contest before its begun.

Same here. I have an 18' Legend XCalibur (Fish n'Ski). I knew going in what to expect in terms of ignoring the initial package price (with the under powered motor, accessories etc). Got a quote for what I wanted on the boat and compared apples to apples. What sold me on the boat was the aft convertible bench to huge casting platform. Really happy with the boat.

I have a mirrorless camera and agree with all that MJL said especially when you put on a zoom lens, the compactness is gone. With a mirrorless, I still get the LCD display to show the scene. On a DSLR you have to look through the view finder and its good for taking multiple shots in rapid succession (sports or fish jumping out of water etc). With mirrorless, its a lot slower.

Thin Waterproof Gloves - Existence unknown
manjo39 replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
These are expensive, but did you consider them? Seems they're perfect http://www.simmsfishing.com/shop/socks-gloves/g4-glove.html -
Also good for large live bait presentations (e.g. saltwater) where you want the bait to swim freely and let the target fish take the bait before engaging the main drag and setting the hook.

Check out the following link. They do knife repairs including tips. https://toshoknifearts.com/services Worth a call at least.

Facts of Fishing THE SHOW 2015 - Some of what I do.
manjo39 replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Hi Ryan, a thought that dawned on my while watching last season, was that Facts of Fishing has the best cinematography of any fishing show. Its not even close. Really evident in that clip. Loved the back cast of the spinner bait right at the camera! Is that what you do for the show? -
Apisabigo Lake Adventure - With The "Fly Me In" Contest Winners!
manjo39 replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Wow, fantastic report. Not only is it evident that you are a great outdoorsman & fisherman, but also an excellent writer. Very well written. I thoroughly enjoyed the read like a good novel. Hey, you should write a book! It is my dream for you to take me and boys to Anjigaming Lake. They are 7 and 10 so maybe a bit young yet. What is the price point of a trip like that? Please send me a PM and I'll start saving my pennies (They don't make pennies anymore, so I'll start saving my nickels). -
Anyone go for swim after that?

best Fly Combo Travel Kit for under$150?
manjo39 replied to 123chadder's topic in General Discussion
I was looking at this a while back. That rod is $159 USD. The website states $45 standard shipping to Canada. Duty and taxes, its probably closer to $300 CAD. -
The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. Honourable Mentions: Jimmy 'Super Fly' Snuka. The best of all 'High Risk Manoveurs' high elevation jump from the top rope. Ricky 'the Dragon' Steamboat as a close second. Tito Santana's flying forearm. Bam Bam Bigelo's tatooes. "SD" Special Delivery Jones - best underdog. Great American Hero - Hulk Hogan - watch'ya gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you! Rivalry with Nikalai Volkov - Russia number 1, USA hack-to. Tag team with Iron Shiek. Undertaker's recessitation from lying motionless on the mat.

Very well said Cliff. I always remind myself to savour every moment I have with my family and friends. It makes the fishing outings that much more special.

If you don't mind the back deck of my boat, you'll be fishing way more next year. Unless that working in retirement thing gets in the way

First drift of the morning and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
manjo39 replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
It happened to me twice on the lake this past summer. First cast, 5 pound bass. I headed back for breakfast shortly after. -
I also grew up going to the Danforth Greek restaurants on late Saturday nights. They just opened Astoria in the Coppa's plaza on Rutherford and we went as a family a while ago. Brought back some memories.

Leafs-Lightning tonight. Let's see who shows up. Let's go Raptors!

Worth every km. You're feeding your soul.

Thanks for the heads up Lew. Now if we can only do something about the bogus car dealership add-on fees.

Hi Cliff, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Pass on my best wishes to Sue and your daughter. I had no idea Sue (and you) was going through this. She is always a ray of sunshine when we see her. Let me know if there is anything we can do for you.

Craig gave great advice. I have a 'second rod' and reel that I bought for a down South trip last year. It is an Okuma 'Baitfeeder' ABF 40B Reel with a 9'6" Rapala Baja Surf Travel Rod (4 Piece with Tube that will fit in Luggage). The reel is made with an auto trip bait feeding system. It's like a second drag system, made specifically for letting fish take your bait with very little resistance. You will hear the bait feeding drag click as the bait is taken (so you can leave it without watching it). When you want to set the hook, your turn your handle a bit to enable your main drag and set the hook. Actually, I don't know if I'll ever use it again and thinking of selling the combo. Its made for saltwater and has two spools of 30lb braid on the reel spool. PM me if you're interested.

I get my respect for an honest days work from my Dad and his generation. Growing up, when it was a struggle to get food on the table and not knowing where your next meal was coming from. By the time my parents had a family we were more stable thanks to his work ethic, but knowing how my Dad grew up will stick with me for the rest of my life. To this day, even though we are not struggling anymore, my Dad is happiest when he has a nice meal with his family sitting with him. He asks for nothing else. I understand where Cliff is coming from.

Bernie's post got me thinking. (ya ok so that is rare)
manjo39 replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Cliff, congratulations on finding that contentment. I'm looking forward to the day when I have the 'freedom' to choose to do something else. I don't know what that is yet. I don't see myself stopping work altogether, just do something else other than the rat race. Maybe I'll ride shotgun with you Cliff just to keep you company Reminds me of Forest Gump when he cashed in his stock from the fruit company (Apple). Lt. Dan told him he didn't have to worry about money no more. That's good. One less thing! He decided to keep his current job and did it for free because he enjoyed it so much. Cutting grass on a riding lawn mower for the University. Can't wait to cut the grass on Saturday morning! -
Excellent website. Lots of good info there. Not just about outposts but preperation too! I especially like the "breakfast-on-the-go" bacon & egg muffins!
