  1. Hi Cliff, nice to hear you are enjoying some warmer weather and soft water fishing to boot. Good timing as this whole week we are going into a deep freeze again. It hurts to breath outside.
  2. The ice ducer would be ideal. I have a fish finder without an ice transducer and will be trying this, this year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYA8WQuH2uE
  3. The pond on Fossil Hill and Rutherfored is waaaay better.
  4. Hi Henry, Nice going. I have a 2011 18 Xcalibur. What are you fishing with? Looks like from the pics that your fore gunnels are lower than mine. I'm I right?
  5. In fact I store my grappa in the freezer. It doesn't freeze. It's best at that temperature.
  6. Grappa is like anything else, there is really good Grappa and bad Grappa. The really good stuff I reserve for peeling paint. The really stubborn paint that won't come off with anything else. If I'm forced to drink it from tradition pressures (being Italian) it has to be colder than ICE cold and have a chaser.
  7. Really good song!! Just voted. Like the band name too.
  8. Ditto on the Wealthy Barber. For the DIY, also strongly recommend the Wealthy Barber Returns. Especially the chapters on low cost ETFs. Simple, low cost, low maintenance investment strategy. Got rid of my FA after reading that book. Will be looking for a fee only (unbiased-non commissioned) FA to audit my projections.
  9. I always thought that if I forgot something, all hope of catching fish was lost. Even if I don't go get it, I still forgot it and its bad luck.
  10. ... The smallmouth is laying peacefully in the basket net with the middle treble hooks of a 3" jerkbait in its mouth. You grab the pliers. You try to unhook the fish with the pliers in the net without even touching the fish. Didn't work. Now you have to reach in lift the fish and remove the treble hooks without getting impaled yourself. Lipping the fish is dangerous because your thumb and fingers are very close to the trebles and you know the fish will try to shake off once lifted, whipping the treble hooks around. You can't get a good grip under the gill plate without touching the rakers and harming the fish. Can't get a good grip around the shoulders. How do you hold the fish to remove the trebles?
  11. How to start a fishing fight ... set the hook!
  12. With the 50 amp breaker vs 60 amp, you might trip the breaker more often. I never tripped once with the 50amp. If you find you are tripping the breaker then upgrade to 60amp.
  13. I did the exact same upgrade and was fine with the wiring and the circuit breaker. In fact, I tried to find a 60AM circuit breaker but couldn't. No issues with the 50.
  14. I have the 798 with down imaging. I switch back and forth between down imaging and regular mode. I actually like regular mode better because the colour variation and double bottom allows me to determine what type of bottom I'm dealing with. Maybe I don't know how to use down imaging properly?
  15. Your title is the same title as my wedding song.
  16. Hi Cliff, has the water level on Sturgeon changed since the weekend?
  17. You can find out which areas are affected at the following link: http://www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca/residents/emergency-services/flood-information
  18. It got higher today. The Kawartha Lakes website stated that it will keep rising into next week.
  19. The disadvantage of using the battery from my ice fishing sonar, is another battery to charge after each use. Not convenient is all. As original poster, we have a dual port on board charger. So would have to buy a three port or take out the third and charge it offboard manually.
  20. I have the exact same problem as mentioned above. I am going to connect the sonar to the cranking battery. Is there a risk of draining the cranking battery after running the sonar all day? Wouldn't want to have the motor not start because of this.
  21. I'm crossing my fingers for the April 20th weekend. Might be wishful thinking considering the forecast includes snow on Thursday and Friday this week.
  22. Are you willing to seperate? If so, can you send me more pictures of the red/white bobber and asking price?
  23. Wow, good to know. Thanks for the update Cliff.
  24. Congratulations! Seems you'll get the best of both worlds. If you need a hand (labour, as I'm no carpenter) with dock work let me know. I could help on weekends. With the new free time, also let me know if you want to hop on my boat anytime, fishing rod in hand.
  25. x2 - Never had issues with 832. My used bled 832 is now the same colour as my new PP Slick Moss Green.
